There is this thing that humans do called 'pack bonding', only we don't limit it to our immediate pack, we can bond with anything ... mates, friends, pets, plants, rocks even fruit with faces drawn on ... so it's not a problem for us to bond with alien species and you must understand human pack-bonding is not a one-way phenomena. If you are nice to us we will be your friend, if we are your friend there is nothing we will not do for you and somehow this draws a similar response from those we have bonded with. In short, be nice to us and ours because there is nothing we will not do for our pack!
