I want robin to know, he is appreciated. my friend is blind, and cannot read reddit for himself. I introduced him to this channel because he used to always love it when I read reddit posts to him, but now im too busy to. he is a huge fan of the emkay team, and robin is his favorite narrator. so, whenever you feel like you aren't affecting anyone, remeber this: No matter how small of a thing you do, it will always affect SOMEONE. you just need to make sure that you are always doing something that will affect someone in a POSITIVE way. which, you are. we are proud of you, Robin, your work is very much appreciated.

Little kids can be adorable when they're at the age where they lack the social awareness to keep their thoughts and questions to themselves. When my hair was dyed teal, I was walking through the mall when I heard this little girl go "Mommy look, a mermaid!" She was pointing at me very excitedly. Her mom tried to put the little girl's hand down, but I waved her off because I found it endearing and it made my day. I dressed up as a mermaid for Halloween that year.

It's also because those questions they ask come from a place of sincerity. That's the hidden condition in "no stupid questions": a question asked with no desire to gain knowledge, is a stupid question. But if the purpose is to become smarter than you are now, then ANY question is a legitimate question, even if it SOUNDS utterly inane

Some time later, London was updating the recordings with new voices and she was devastated. @26:40 I have an autistic child who is practically non verbal. He usually only repeats things he hears, or actually has learned to sound out and read things. There have been very very few times where we've had very small conversations and they make me so happy! I've seen parents here and their get annoyed or upset when their child talks to much and it crushes me because they don't know how good they have it to actually have a conversation with their child on a daily basis. One day my son will be able to ask me about the world, and I'm so so excited for that to happen, even if it's through writing or sign language. (Note: I was also diagnosed with Autism at a young age and also didn't speak for a very long time, so I understand all he needs is time and resources to learn how to communicate the best he can)

@@tieflingcorpse9817 learning to speak will help him be more independent as an adult. Even if he learns it later, or on top of sign language, our society is so dependent on spoken language that if they didn't at least _try_ to teach him to speak it would be like intentionally disabling him. 27:55 this one about not being able to get out a sentence really hit me. I have a stutter and I have to see a speech pathologist every week for it, this happens so often to me where someone will cut me off before I can even finish getting out the first word of my sentence. One of my favourite things in the world is that when my partner realises this is happening she'll literally tell everyone to shut up and let me say what I'm trying to say.

Whoa.... Seeing Robin respond to the 9 nanas with 'I wish I would just get that pound cake' made me realise how privileged I am. Because I am clearly one of the have's, who, when seeing a news story like that, thinks 'man, the have's should give more to the have-nots' and not 'man I wish I got something like that.' Which I suppose a have-not would, because they need them.... Whenever I see a give away box or a food package or something like it, I never think 'man, that looks amazing to get.' Because all of the things I see are things I either don't want or can just buy whenever I want. And I just now realised that for some people, something like candy or fancier food isn't something they can afford. So this is a rarity and a treat for them... When for me it's something I can get whenever. I am so privileged.... .__.

My only thought was that maybe I should make myself a pound cake. Or, even better, a seven flavor pound cake, which is based on the cold-oven cake recipe and the secret 7th flavor is butter flavoring because the cold-oven cake recipe only works because it uses margarine instead of butter. If you use butter then the crust doesn't develop properly and the crust is the best part. Unfortunately, I don't keep flavor extracts on hand because I don't bake often enough to justify it.

The post at 6:14 with the random cat coming into the house. A similar story happened with my husband and I. One day we left our sliding door to our backyard open. I was stepping out of the shower as a cat walked by the bathroom door. I approached the cat immediately as we didn’t own any cats. The cat was friendly and laid down for some pats. My husband and I pet the cat and eventually it left on its own. We don’t know who the cat belonged to, but it would occasionally come to our house to hang out on our couch. Sometimes for a few hours at a time. We nicknamed him Felix. Felix’s visits started to become regular and we would see him all the time. Then we had to dog sit for a coworker for 2 weeks and then Felix never came to visit us again. This was over 10 years ago, so wherever Felix is, I hope he is doing alright, or at least lived a good life.

25:30 this reminded me of the time when my psych professor mentioned about having known this one person who grew up in abject poverty, like somehow his family barely had a roof over their heads, and all he ever wanted was some biscuits. They are literally the cheapest biscuits that one could buy and he couldn't afford it. This man, somehow made it big enough to bring his entire family out of poverty and is now a fairly successful businessman. He had invited my professor to a house party and my professor noticed that on his mantle and other display furnitures, apart from the usual display items (like porcelain cutlery and crystal animals), he had those biscuits in there, proudly sitting with the other displays. Now since my professor knew about his poverty, he understood exactly why he has them in there. Somewhere deep down inside him, he had longed for those biscuits for so long that it has now become a part of his personality. So yeah, if adults are buying toys for themselves, let them. Maybe that was something that they longed for all their lives but is only now able to get it for themselves.

i never understood this mindset. presumably, he shares a bed with her. hence, he is often asleep (and therefore vulnerable) on a regular basis around her. she presumably has access to his kitchen, where there are presumably knives. it doesn't matter how tall you are if you're laying down, it really doesn't. and this is just the most simple scenario that I could come up with off the top of my head. I had only 5 seconds to think of this. she has had a hell of a lot more time than that. he doesn't even need to be asleep. in general, the person starting a fight has the advantage, especially if they have had time to plan. it doesn't matter how much larger the victim is, especially if the aggressor is around them 24/7, and someone they should be able to trust. it's true that, in a fair fight, where both participants are forewarned and evenly armed, the average woman will lose to the average man. abusers never, ever allow it to be a fair fight.

26:30 Totally agree. If you're an adult and you buy a toy for you because it makes you happy, there's nothing wrong with it. I did that several years ago: I was roughly 21-22 years old at the time and I was walking around in a Disney store, reminiscing about the times my mom and aunts would take me to the one at the mall after clothes shopping. At the time, the Maleficent movie had come out in theaters, so the store was selling Sleeping Beauty merchandise. Among said merchandise was a stuffed Maleficent dragon! I absolutely love dragons and had always wanted a Maleficent dragon stuffed plush since I was a little girl. After 18 years of searching, I had finally found one and it was the last one they had. The speed in which I ran across that store and snatched her off the shelf was insane 😂 To this day, she remains one of the best purchases I ever made for myself and is one of my greatest finds.❤❤

Like a day ago, I helped some little lady collect something from the top shelf of a freezer and she was overjoyed by my simple act of kindness, I rarely ever do anything sweet for others but I couldn't deny that enjoyed doing it Something so simple and compassionate can bring someone more than enough joy than anything else, it's so simple but it's even more necessary

As a person who forgets to yield but has also been interrupted a lot, I know how it feels. So what I do is that I realize im interrupting someone. Stop talking, and if they're not talking about it anymore because I interrupted them or someone else did, I ask them "Sorry about that. Can you please continue what you were talking about?" And it always makes them happy

Two animal facts on here that I can confirm and have experienced myself. Fact one: When I was ill with tonsillitis a long time ago a cat walked into my house and sat for three weeks on my bed - until I was better. He was big, with thick silver fur like a mole, so I provisionally named him Mole. We found his real owner [right on the other side of our 5,000 population town] and it turned out that he had brain damage from a car hitting him earlier in life, which made him forget stuff. I can't remember what his real name was but it wasn't Mole, haha Fact two: I've looked after a lot of wildlife and been associated with the local RSPCA wildlife hospital, so when I went to get a patient checked one time the vet plonked a young swan into my arms. It was a juvenile, so fully grown but with super soft grey 'fur' instead of feathers. It instantly wrapped its neck round mine, just like the photos here, and the vet said, "No, you CAN'T take it home!" XD

Most of my childhood I had the moral support of a fat, torti cat named mooch . We named her mooch because one time I left the front door open when I whent outside to play as a kid, and she just walked in the front door and sat on the couch like she owned the place. Later she found her way over to the food and litter (we already owned a black cat named midnight) and just... didn't leave. Whenever we were moving she would straight up jump into the car with us and stare at us expectingly like "okay where are we going? Let's go already". She died from cancer at the age of 18. I miss her. I can't help but to notice how ever since she's does, there's always been a steady streak of strey cats coming up to my doorstep to keep me company. I think she told them about me .

Honestly Warrior Cats is such a based series, they are not scared of letting children see the darker moments that some other childrens' series are, which in my opinion can help kids understand that bad things happen and bad people exist, while still fighting against them and trying to make situations better for everyone. I love that series so much that I recently auditioned to voice act in an audiobook for the series :3

I am here to validate the fact that cats will absolutely walk into a stranger home and adopt a human. I had that happen to me several years back. One of my relatives was cleaning the floor in our kitchen and left the door open to allow the floor to dry. Next thing, I know there is a kitten that is climbing up the arm of the chair that I was in to come and lay on my chest. We did not have a cat. Our neighbors cat had just had kittens a few weeks prior to which we were completely unaware, and this kitten had wandered off and found its way to our house.

21:00 i haven't had a spider in my house in years. See, spiders only stay if they get enough food to eat. Keep your house clean, deny food sources to pests like flies and ants, and flies and ants won't be in your house. Without flies and ants, spiders have no reason to be in your house either. All you have to do is keep your home clean and you won't have pests. You might have one visit you when the weather gets cold, but generally don't stay. They get hungry and leave.

Coming into a restaurant shortly before it closed has happened to me once and that was one of the nicest experiences I ever had at a restaurant. A friend and I came into this Thai restaurant about 15 minutes before they would close, although we did not not know it. So we sat down and started looking at the menu when the owner came over and told us that they would like to close in 15 minutes. So, since we were quite hungry, I asked them if it would be possible if we order something and take it with us. He agreed and got us our food 4 minutes after they‘d close. We left a huge tip (where I‘m from, tipping is normal but only very small amounts to thank for good service, because waitstaff actually gets paid) and left, eventually sitting down in the park close to the river and enjoying really good food.

11:18 reminds me of a dream i had of my old childhood cat. Even though I dreamt it when I was like 7, i still remember it crystal clearly: My cat had died at this point (both in the dream and irl). But in the dream she would sometimes appear in the corner of the bedroom, right next to where i slept. It was maybe once a month (irl the dream prob lasted about an hour but there it felt like months). Every time i tried to run up to her to pet or cuddle her, she'd fade away. Then, one day she stayed for longer. I ran up to her and i finally managed to hug her. She layed in my arms. Right before she disappeared, she said my name. "Svetla...". Then she faded away for the last time. That was the last time i dreamed of her. I will always miss you, Pisa. Rest in peace.

As far as I'm aware, people didn't smile in photos back then, not because of exposure times, but bc getting your picture taken was treated as a very serious event, like getting your portrait painted. It was an historical record of who you were, so future generations knew you existed, and what you looked like

If they build webs they can survive outside. Many spiders get inside from confusion or by simple chance. I let out one spider on my front porch and it stayed there for months. It's not like spiders are domesticated.

i used to hum a lot as a child. never an actual pre-existing tune, rather I'd come up with my own. I'd click my teeth together for percussion. one day my mom told me it sounded annoying. After that I stopped humming when there was a human being within 50 feet or range of sight of me, and I never tried my hand at learning how to make music because my confidence was shattered. I still love music, and I still don't dare do more than mouth along to it silently when no one is looking. I told my mom about this recently, and she didn't remember that this happened at all.

24:26 Something to add to that, pretty much all apartment buildings on the housing list (in my town at least) you gotta pay to use the washer and dryer. Mine is on the cheaper side, but most are almost $6 for one load in the washer and dryer. It's very ironic how the ones who have the LEAST AMOUNT OF MONEY have to pay to do their laundry, that and if your apartment building on housing is not owned by the county, it could be literal weeks for the elevator, your toilet or the washer to be fixed. My best friend waited for almost 2 months for a clogged toilet. Source: Best friend and me living in housing currently
