@FeierLin3 жыл бұрын
@@RainbowPlantLife my family is Mongolian and Chinese, so replacing meat with firm tofu has worked really well in things like dumplings, using smoked tofu as a replacement for stir fried meats is also great. One of the hardest things for me is replacing eggs/egg yolks in desserts. Chinese people really like the distinctive taste that eggs give desserts like egg tarts, chiffon cake, mooncake, so that's the challenge I've been trying to tackle the most! Usually, though, most things' flavor doesn't actually depend much on the meat, so replacing with tofu is very easy--the hard part is convincing resistant family members to try it :)
@Alina_Schmidt3 жыл бұрын
@@FeierLin Yes, Tofu is great 😊 I heard many people use kala namak (black salt) to season when they want it to taste like egg. Maybe it‘s worth a try. I recently had an egg salad with Tofu and kala namak which tasted very well.
@FeierLin3 жыл бұрын
@@Alina_Schmidt kala namak is pretty good for imitating sulfur in eggs for savory dishes, but east Asian chinese egg desserts are more about the creaminess of the yolk. I've been experimenting with using vanilla and barista oat milk to try to imitate it. It's definitely different from what people usually think about eggs.
Your amazing at what you do and the Naan recipe is divine, AND your relationship with your parents is so beautiful!!! They are both legends!!! Keep it up, thanks for sharing!

I guess your parents are the type that brag to everyone about you and your accomplishments and are so proud of you (quite rightly), and obviously love you very much. I will watch more of your videos as I have recently retired and now have the time to make individual daily meals, instead of spending an entire Saturday once a month batch cooking enough for 10 servings of each dish, and making about 6 or 7 dishes so I can just come in from work and microwave a couple of meals for me and my hubby who is a truck driver, and would get home at odd hours, so was very appreciative of anything warm and home cooked. However, he is now realising what a fresh home cooked meal is like, and so is his waistline unfortunately.

This recipe SLAPS. I’m an absolute moron when it comes to cooking but I took on the challenge and it worked out perfetctly. Best naan I ever eaten, thanks for the recipe.

if you take the dough out of the bowl as it is, cut them up before balling them and then closing off the bottom of each cut so the dry top is the only thing exposed on the outside, it will allow for more rise. the dried outside from the initial rise in the bowl allows the CO2 to better trap in the dough allowing for better better bubble formation. I learned of this from an Italian pizza chef and it changed the game for me.
