Hi Henrietta. I am glad you are still enjoying a little treat and not forgetting your husband’s needs as well. Cranberries are a good addition too.

@@geoffsbakingblog I really can't wait to make them... I have started batch of blood orange marmalade and will manage atray of the flapjacks with dried cherries while waiting for the pectin from the fruit to do it's thing... Thank you so much... Oh I wondeer what a batch would be lick with candied peel??? Hmmm...
@geoffsbakingblog3 жыл бұрын
@@julie-joywilliams7280 I am sure candied peel would be good. Here in the UK we can buy mixed dried fruit, raisins, sultanas, currants and chopped mixed peel. It is available all year, but I will wait and make a Christmas version of the flapjacks, using some spices too.

I like oatmeal cookies so I'm sure I'd like this. It's interesting how names mean different things. Ask for a flap jack here and you'd get pancakes. If you buy sherbet at the store you get a frozen dessert. A cross between ice cream and sorbet.

HI Tim. I am sure you would enjoy these flapjacks. I know a number of different food items that are confusing between the UK and North America. Chips in the UK are what the Americans call 'fries'.

I've recently gone through a flapjack phase 😀 Can't beat this version (original) but I also made coconut and glace cherry and chocolate chip as well I gave a tray of each to a neighbour and it was all she ate that weekend 🙃

HI Graham. I know the feeling. It is very easy to forego dinner and just eat flapjacks.

They look delicious, thanks! Can I use salted butter instead, and not add the extra salt?

HI Reliant Robin. Thanks. Yes you can use salted butter and leave out, or reduce, the salt in the recipe.

Oh these look really good. Thanks for the video. Shakespeare refers to "flap-jacks" in Pericles, Prince of Tyre. "Come, thou shant go home, and we'll have flesh for holidays, fish for fasting-days, and moreo'er puddings and flap-jacks, and thou shalt be welcome." Act II Scene I

That Shakepeare knew a thing or two. I bet he was a dab hand(if you know that expression) at making flapjacks when he wasn't busy with his plays.

Hi Miss Dream. Your message has appeared in the comments thankfully. The previous 3 messages came in my email but never appeared in the comments. Hopefully all is back to normal now. Yes these do bring back memories of days when we didn't have much but were able to have the occasional treat.

@@missmaryhdream6560 Oh I receive emails for all comments. Then they appear in the comments section too. But some of yours never reached the comments. So I left a message in the comments for the Blueberry Sponge video to say I wasn't ignoring your comments, they just didn't appear for me. But hopefully all is working properly now.
