Degenerative disc/ stenosis

These exercises should be comfortable, not painful.
1. Reclined hand to big toe
Extend the knee until you feel tightness in the nerve, keep the leg bent or straightened if possible. Bend and straighten decressing tension on the nerve.
When the leg is raised engage and point your toes.
2. Reclined pigeon pose
Piriformis stretch (an important hip rotator that gets tight with sciatic problems)
Do both sides (30 sec holds)
Alternative stretch is a reclined twist
3. Strengthen the core to stabilise the spine with Bridge pose. With a degenerative disc stop lifting when you feel pain. This pose trains the glutes and lower back muscles to work together.
