Use whatever works! Good for you - I never thought of that, but I still don’t like the brush idea for tire dressing. For some reason I like something more rigid to put pressure on the application. Thanks a lot for watching and sharing what works for you 👍🏻

Great video! My favorite is the ergonomic foam one you showed at the end of the video. I do small circular motions (like applying wax) to work the dressing into the nooks, lettering etc... then do a few quick linear wipes to smooth it out.

Thanks for sharing! That’s my favorite as well. It doesn’t seem as durable as I’d like, but works really well. Thank you for watching.

great video bruce, i like using the hybrid application method ESPECIALLY with carpro darkside, use a foam or microfiber applicator to apply it then go all in like bob ross with the og tire brush or similar tire brush and paint the dressing evenly for a “happy little tire” 😜🐿️💨

I also prefer a sponge as well, then a microfiber sponge, and lastly a boar’s hair brush for regular tires. I also find if I use a boar’s hair brush it does not apply as easily as the sponge on those regular tires. However, for aggressive AT or MT tires I use the boar’s hair brush because it gets into those deep aggressive sidewall lugs. Those lugs wear out my sponges and foam applicator. The microfiber does not wear out but cannot as easily get into the lug crevices. I can see how this brush being big can coat the tire faster but not sure if it would hit the crevices as good as boar’s hair. I also use Koch Chemie for my tires and appreciated your feedback using the OG brush with it.

Bruce. I really like your videos ... especially your excellent presentation of products and detailing processes. Your videos provide very thorough and well-presented information that reflect your personal detailing process and honest assessments (pros and cons). This is very educational and gives me confidence that you are not using your site to "sell" products ... but rather to share information and help out weekend detailers like me. Keep up the great work! FYI, I use "purpose designed" Detail Factory brushes for my vehicle tire, wheel surface and wheel well cleaning ... as well as for my interior maintenance work. They are my go to brushes. I also happen to use the Adam's applicator for dressing the tires ... for the same reasons that you seem to select it as your first choice. I use different shampoos, etc. than you do. But, to some degree this reflects my preference to use up my current supply before trying out some other products (should the products that I use not meet my needs and expectations). With summer approaching, I am looking for some of your and your viewers suggestions about the "best" ceramic coating products (easy to apply and lasting more than a year ... to warrant the preparation work in readying my vehicles for a ceramic coating) products that I should invest in for my vehicles. Sorry for the long comment ... but, I am a fan who looks forward to each of your new videos!

Thanks, Ken. I always try to be very transparent and honest in my perspective. I’ll be doing a “New Car Series” very soon and will go through all of the steps I took to detail it, including ceramic coating paint, glass, and wheels. I used Armour Detail Supply coatings and have been really pleased. They are relatively new, but very responsive and are producing some fantastic products, including their coatings. Thanks for being a fan and watching. I appreciate it very much.

I agree with you 💯. Have you tried the autofiber tire saver dressing applicator? Has a hydrophobic layer that prevents product from soaking in. Its fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
@Bruces-Garage6 ай бұрын
Yes! I have used that applicator, but solely for ceramic coating and interior dressing. I haven’t used it on tires, but I’m sure it works great and likely uses less product. Is that what you use?
@96spectyper6 ай бұрын
@Bruce-Weinberg yes I use that one for my more durable tire dressings like carpro darkside. Since it has the hydrophobic barrier you use less product.

What bench do you use in this video? I have an old Rubbermaid kitchen step stool I use easily when washing my Ford Edge roof but I can not reach the roof on my truck. I’m looking to replace my old RV brush with a new one to reach the recesses on the roof of the truck.

Thanks for watching. I use the Werner work platform www.homedepot.com/p/Werner-45-in-x-12-in-x-20-in-Aluminum-Pro-Work-Platform-with-300-lb-Load-Capacity-AP-25/301578816 and it folds up nicely. It also adjusts in height. For washing, you might also consider the Autofiber Mitt on a Stick. It allows you reach while washing - it uses a high quality microfiber mitt on the end, so it's not going to damage your paint. That's another option as well.

A stiff style of brush is what I like to use. That definitely seems too soft to control the dressing application plus the bristles don’t appear dense enough to help with the length of the bristles. Disappointed in OG for designing a product like that. It could be much better.
@Bruces-Garage6 ай бұрын
I agree it’s too soft, but Matt loves that with OG tire dressing. So it works well for him, but I wasn’t feeling it.
@atikovi16 ай бұрын
Don't really like using applicator sponges or pads as they don't get the dressing into all the grooves and pockets unless you go over the same spot half a dozen times. A brush seems ideal, just should be stiffer. Maybe cut the bristle length to half and try it.

Great video. There are quite a few OG products that are nice not the best for the job at hand….
@Bruces-Garage6 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. What OG products do you find that are not useful? I’ve had good luck with quite a few of its products like decon soap, pressure washer wall mount/wand/setup.
@rubenharris92415 ай бұрын
@@Bruces-Garage sorry Bruce. Just to clarify, it’s not that the OG products are bad, it’s just that they are not necessarily the right or best product to accomplish the task. Thus leaving the buyer with a “cool” product that doesnt necessarily get them to their ideal end goal. Your brush video is a good example.

How does it work with Matt’s tire dressing ?
@Bruces-Garage6 ай бұрын
I suspect it works really well - at least for Matt, because he had previously used the similar bristles to apply OG Tire Dressing. However, I’ve never tried the OG Tire Dressing. I’ve got so many different tire dressings now and honestly they all work. . .some are a bit more durable, but regardless they all work. So I’m not too interested in trying another dressing. Thanks for watching.

Detail factory makes good brushes but I don’t really see why anyone would want to pay 25% more for this brush when you can save that money and basically get the same brush without the “obsessed garage” branding on it.
@Bruces-Garage6 ай бұрын
It’s $19.95 on detail factory’s site which seems in line with their similar brushes. The screwball is $42.95 and this uses the same bristles, just a bit smaller. So while I didn’t buy this brush, the price doesn’t seem out of line to me. But I agree, I’m not paying more simply for branding.
@NeemoHose-ir5ht6 ай бұрын
@@Bruces-Garage yeah their normal large handle brush is only $14 and is pretty much the same size as this brush.
@Bruces-Garage6 ай бұрын
@NeemoHose-ir5ht Yeah I saw that. I kind of was factoring in the screwball bristles for the extra amount. Who knows…it’s definitely softer than any brush I have-which is why it just doesn’t work for me on tires. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. Appreciate it.

Thank you for the vid Bruce. I’m having a brutal time finding an applicator that I can use to apply Darkside. I have Pirelli Scorpions on my pickup, and about 90% of the sidewall of those tires have tight vertical ridges. I can get the dressing on, but then it gets all blotchy and imo doesn’t look right.
@Bruces-Garage6 ай бұрын
@@JohnD15317 I’d try that Adam’s Hex applicator (or a similar version). Another option would be a large microfiber sponge applicator. I’d suggest the Gyeon applicator, but I think it might be too small for a truck tire. Thanks for watching!
