UPDATE: Super typing compilation is up! kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWHGZmdoft6Merc Despite this keyboard being AMAZING for its price, it is FAR from perfect. This is a custom mechanical keyboard that dives between new users and enthusiasts, where it has all the features necessary but also has the lowest pricing through bulk production. There's a lot of things that Glorious should be doing better and cutting corners is not of them. Some enthusiasts and elitists of the keeb community might feel some type of way because of this keyboard - but it was something that was bound to happen eventually. I just hope people don't suddenly start calling themselves EXPERT keyboard builders with this ONE board. At least build more than 1 keyboard variant before you give yourself that distinction :) As a reviewer of the people, if you want a good quality keyboard and you're not an enthusiast, you're good to go with this one.

Worth the wait for your thoughts on this. Even though I’m a total beginner I can’t help but listen to your “enthusiast” cons... And I really can’t believe the knob isn’t programmable! But frankly I love the look of this board and think I’ll be happy
@rks54573 жыл бұрын
It is programmable. The direction is just normal. Like every other knob in the world, clockwise means "increase". If you are used to a car or anything with a knob like a stereo, stove etc. etc. the clockwise is "higher" and the counterclockwise is "lower"

I filed the stab holes in my brass plate. It is very easy if you use flat files with "diamond" surface, like the ones used for model building: they're cheap and effective. In 15 minutes of work Durocks v2 were fitting perfectly and the plate looks like new, I got really smooth and clean edges! I think that working on the small qwirks can make this keyboard even worthier then the price you pay for it. It's a great DIY platform!
@rks54573 жыл бұрын
The knob direction shouldn't be an issue at all for most people. It's like every other knob in the history of control knobs in that the clockwise motion means increase and counterclockwise means decrease. Think of the volume knob on the gmmk pro as a typical control knob found in thousands of types of stereos ever made where clockwise is up, digital audio workstations and editing software where the knob going clockwise means high or more etc. etc. It makes sense.
@Romsicle3 жыл бұрын
The issue isn't the direction. It's the lack of customizability from the get-go. I've gotten used to it, but this is not a good look

There are no GMMK Pro keys, it’s a barebones kit so i comes with the case, pcb, plate, and stabs. You have to buy switches and keycaps separately. A similar switch to the Romer-g would be the mx brown, but it is a pretty bad switch, I would suggest watching some reviews on switches to see which one you like the most.

Thank you for this video! Flex batch here, this confirms my suspicons regarding the stabilizers and I'm very glad I ordered my own Zeal stabs + krytox 205g0 in advance. This will be my first time lubing a keyboard! A couple of questions though: Is there anything beyond an aesthetic difference for the plates aside from the metal shaping on brass and aluminum or is there an acoustic difference in the sound? The one thing I didn't account for when I made my reservation is the gasket foam, would you recommend swapping the foam with an aftermarket replacement or do you think the foam included in the box is sufficient?
@Romsicle3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Brass is much stiffer than aluminum so switches will sound much thockier. You'll be able to hear this once I upload the sound comparison of a bunch of switches on all plates. I personally don't think it's sufficient so I would probably find some aftermarket foam. I know Taobao sells replacement strips for the KBD D65 so I might try that.

@@introbrilliantm7583 I gotcha and agree. Another thing I don't see a lot of is long term reviews. It's always testing a brand new board or switch out. Which is cool for uber enthusiasts who constantly buy shit and flip it and barely use a board as a daily driver and if it is, it's something that they use at work and is silent. One of the worst examples of this is reviewing switches that have a break in period and just reviewing em fresh and calling em shitty. Like nk cream switches sound pretty good when you break them in and then lube them after. Also, comparing switches by using one of each switch. The first thing I found out when I got into this hobby was the difference btw how one or a few switches sound vs an actual full typing test. It's obviously expensive and time consuming to do several full alpha key tests on these but it'd be a real world example.
