I'm 3/4th's through the audiobook. I have to say, Shari is definitely a talented writer with an important and very engaging story to tell. I don't think this book is just an opportunistic cash grab. I think her story is something that feels like it does deserve a place in the world, and it deserves to be read or heard. She's super good at writing for a 21 year old, and I would still consider this book well written and very engaging even if she was 40.

Ruby learned how to be mean from her mother! Obviously, the abuse was generational. I knew Ruby's mother when she was young, and she was mean. She had few, if any, friends. I'm sure these character traits were passed along. I can't wait to read Sheri's book. I hope this entire facade is exposed and that shame will come upon the abusers. Even though Ruby was caught doing this exploitation of her children, for money (millions), her sister Bonnie is continuing making vlogs and is "using" her children for content. The saddest thing is that none of these children have any friends (after all, consent would have to be granted because of the constant video recording going on.)

some of it might be generational trauma....but every individual is responsible for thier own actions...its not her mothers fault that she tortured. i grew up in a pretty abusive household and i wouldnt even THINK to treat my kids(if i had them) half as bad as i was treated growing up.

She and Jodi H have been sentenced to serve between 4-60 years. The length of sentence will be determined early 2026 I believe, but unsure on the exact date. I’m sure it will be covered on KZbin when the time comes

Guys, stop giving Shari Frank ALL these attention. She comes from a very abusive family, that posted abuse and never got stopped. Now that she is out, people are using her voice to speak their minds, she is exposed again, beings used again and beings shown on media again. Are you talking about Shari, the oldest one shown here? Or the next oldest kids? Shari tried her best and repeatedly contacted Protective Services, and caseworkers did visit. But a judge refused to sign off on legal intervention. It’s not their fault the government failed them.

Often times like others mentioned, legalities get in the way she could be charged for kidnapping her siblings bc the parents didn't give permission for the minor siblings to be with the legally adult sibling even though they are blood related siblings. Truly sad especially for these terrible situations :(((

If you remember, Ruby’s level of abuse didn’t escalate until after Shari had left home for BYU. She wasn’t allowed back in the house and had only minimal contact with her family because of her mother barring her from seeing and talking to her siblings. Shari tried to get them help via wellness checks and neighbours, but to know avail because of how the Utah system is set up. As for her younger brother, Chad. Ruby kicked Chad out of the house at Jodi’s direction. He went to live with his father, in his condo and neither Chad, nor Kevin were allowed any contact with the rest of the younger siblings. They had no idea of the extent of the abuse inflected and ongoing from Jodi and Ruby until the arrest and investigation of the situation. Thank God Russell got out and went for help. He thought he was going to jail, because of his brainwashing, but that young man was brave enough to escape and seek help.
