Run: 2D Short Animated Film (HD)

This is my first animated film, made using Toon Boom Harmony Advanced. Improper fps (8fps and at some times 5fps), hopefully I'll make a better fully animated film later!

Brieland4 I know exactly what you are talking about! When I was in school I gave them what they wanted and did my own thing outside of class. It wasn't fun but you do what you have to. Keep going though! Just see it as an opportunity to work on anatomy! It isn't forever! Just keep being yourself! And make sure you pursue your own style regardless!

I loved the film, the meaning behind it was very interesting and made me think about a lot of things. Also your style is so beautiful and the fact you were only 15 years old when you made this blew my mind. Keep up the good work! ♥ And this is to all of you viewers: this little animation also reminds me of how people have no idea what an artist can do. Like they are always looked down upon... I am currently studying at some art college and when I tell people about that, they usually ask me the question: "Oh and what are you going to do after college? Is there even any jobs for artists these days?" Seriously? Just look around the world people! Artists design your clothes, they decorate your home, they are behind the movies you watch, the commercials you see, the books your kids read, the cartoons, the magazines, the video games and any good brand needs a tasteful logo and image design! And the list goes on! They need artists! They need us! They need our services, they need all of us to do someting! So if you feel like you have the talent and you want to become an artist, go for it! If you dream big and you can! You make your own luck! Don't just sit on your bums, go and always search for the opportunity to get higher, take smaller jobs if needed and advertise yourself! MewrMewr thank you. I'm a young artist and really needed that support. The compliments I got went in one ear and just came out the other. I don't believe i did great. Honestly I began to cry when I read that comment. I began drawing for more than five hours each day for weeks, and barely ate or drank anything. Yet, this game me so much hope, knowing I can accomplish what I want to do, I want to go alto an art school, I want to become an animator, and I will. I've also heard people ask me when I tell them I want to go to art school for college "So what are you gonna do after that? Post KZbin videos for a living?". I think the wings resemble the freedom in toughts and the potential of creativity. Schools and education in "Cages" (For example are you in thast education system not allowed to choose wich direction you want your life to go) keep your mind down an kind of force it in the social system of life. When your "Wings" get cut off, you're _ok_ with having no dreams for your future and are _ok_ with living as the average office worker for the next 30 or 40 years of your life every day.

School doesn't just do this subliminally. I go to a school that is absolutely filthy and has staff that make you want to die. And on top of that, this one kid was beaten up so badly that she went to the hospital. Everything about the current school system is making me hopeless and suicidal. And my parents are just making it worse by invalidating everything I say or keeping my feelings bottled up. I almost jumped off of a building. This school system has made me miserable, and if there wasn't such thing as forums.school-survival.net, I don't think that I would be alive right now.

Same here. I try to mix my studies with my writting proyects, but sometimes I feel like I won´t be able to have a job and write at the same time. On the other hand, there are some writers in my family too and they support my passion while helping me decide between bein a teacher - with less time, but money and more places to work on - or a librarian - a lot of time, but less money and poor choice of place to work on. I guess time will tell for everyone struggling like this. Good luck with your passion.

This totally describes teachers. I think of school as a horrible place where it's just plain, boring, and all the same. I think of it as a prison where teachers brain wash you into becoming mindless children and change you like that forever. I try to use as much time as possible to keep my wings while others are cut off, so I just think of some amazing animations like this! You can do whatever you want with your imagination, don't let anything get in the ways of your dreams. I really hope that helped! D:

Neferpitou I don't think school is the problem or even the teachers at all, you have the choice to make your stay memorable and fun or not, and it depends on the teachers, not generalizing the people and the profession, if they wanted to place the inputs of students onto their subject or not. Besides, you shouldn't let those two stop your creativity, or that's what you think. Not everyone is going to appreciate of your fruit, and you shouldn't take it by heart if they dont see the beauty. The real world is tough for those who are passionate and their stories could be a story to make the doubtful to be inspired by it. :3

Neferpitou some professions and workplaces have repetitive processes and even sometimes the situation for an example teaching and sometimes even cooking at a restaurant, even the waiter taking the same notes and meals from menu. A security guard, even a police at times, as a housekeeper, and etc. The only thing that is opposite at hand is your choice to be different, to change the cycle of what is to be expected, mend or break your habit. Schools can sometimes repeat the same strategy of teaching but it doesn't mean, you have to follow the exact example from either your teachers and classmates. You can always be different, it doesn't mean it is bad to stay the same as everyone else. With how you handle the things you do in school affects your perspective of what really is school to you. I understand if school really have its flaws in its system but it doesn't mean it is entirely broken. you gotta do what you already have and try to make things out of it, either memories of great times or even a scholarship... it only depends on you. Repetitive doesn't mean it is bad too, but it does get boring sometimes I understand that.

My education system is like this only I'm from India (Please no hate) in our education system its not important about how much student has understood the stuff or how much he/ she has learned , Indian education system checks our memory how much we are able to remember I'm in 12th grade just to tell u guys the study level my best friend is in Canada in class 12th and the syllabus of maths that Canadian students study in class 12th is the one Indian students do in class 9th and a year younger, Failures are not accepted never ever if you get below 90% forget that you'll even get admission in any college. In a single month we are supposed to learn 13 chapters of economics (Micro level class 12th) , the burden is just too much if you are good in studies people will force u to take science do engeenering or become a doctor if you are not just sit home if you choose Humanities with light subjects like art or something of ur interest EVERYone will call u a looser , hopeless person with no future

currently, this is whats happening in my country. they are forcing students to take some higher level of studies if theyre good at academics. This is a new curriculum though and im second to the last batch of students to take the previous curriculum.. so i didnt get to experience that. thats petty accurate where I am too. I just started medical high school and we learn 23 lectures in biology in a week and a half.i recently went to visit my friend in her high school and I found out that I was doing collage level math and chemistry.There is no such thing as art in my school and if you doodle in your note book or just in a sketch book you get punished.

I feel like I got my wings cut right off before. My old school was horrible. I got bullied from ninth grade to twelfth grade. Younger kids were even bullying me. It got worse and worse each year, but this year was the absolute worst. I got pregnant and people hit me, kicked me, shoved me, called me names, etc. One student told my lover to hit me, kick me, or even push me down the stairs. He did not, thankfully. School was just horrifying. I felt alone, depressed, stressed out.. Teachers were even bullying me.. Everyone said I was not getting bullied though. I got called crisis on twice before, but not this year. I cried in classes, the hallway, on the bus, at my lover's house, and at my house. My mother went into school so many times and the office would talk to the bullies. The students acted like they were innocent and that I was the monster. Please, for those out there, do not lose your wings so easily. School may be hard, but do not let them cut your wings off. Promise me.

Same with me with writing. I used to write very much and I loved it but we don't do creative writing in class. Instead we write boring essays which are written like a newspaper and not like a fantasy book like I would have prefered it. Last week was the first day that I tried to write again (after years of a writers block - I have ideas but I just sit in front of my computer and stare frustrated at it) and I'd say it was successful. Sooo... idea-block can be overcome. It can just take time but the ideas will come back.

I think that there is no wrong or right answer as to what this animation means because everyone interpret art differently. I think that it means that in the world when we are young everything is colourful and we are carefree, but when we grow up we face reality and it is dark and gray and limits us from our dreams. Because of this, the girl in this animation purposely put herself in the cell to get killed because she wants the guy to have a reason to run, to chase his dream, to have a purpose again. And sometimes in the process of chasing your dreams you have to loose people in the way but you need to be willing to chase your dreams. That's my interpretation of this.

I can relate to this so much. In middle school i was never encouraged to do any art based subjects buts instead history and science. Now I'm in college studying graphic design and I've never been happier. You should never let the system cut your wings before u can use them.

Skai Lee It's pretty much; the wings represent freedom you feel as a child to choose your own 'path' per-say, and as you grow older they begin to doubt (like they have been saying) and now they realize they're going to be stuck anyway, when hey go off and explore they see jail cells that are classrooms, and the girl accidentally goes inside, sealing her fate forever, and now she'll no longer get to choose her own path, so the wings are CHOPPED OFF. Hence her freedom is gone. And she doesn't get to do what she wants. This actually happens a lot, I wanted to be a writer but my parents made me study physiology. It happens a lot, and this is an example. -well thats how I saw it.

Although, my mind came up with an alternate ending. Instead of chopping, the wings atrophy due to them not being used.
