Finally! Someone using this to actually cut brush and not just overgrown grasses and common weeds. I was very hesitant to get this because of that reason, so thanks for actually using this as a brush cutter. 👍

I've had one of these for two years now. It's a champ!!! I could. ot be happier. I use it to tackle the infamous blackberries prominent in the northwest. It makes short work of them easily. I run it hard like I am using my stihl. It never gives up. I recommend this for anyone with thick brush or blackberries. I did have an issue with the guard bolts coming out though. Just remove the guard and drill it out to 1/4, tap the mount, and use nylocks. Haven't looked back since doing that.

Hi! Just purchased the 40 volt battery Ryobi with the metal head. Use it on Japanese Knotweed! It was the millipede stampede inside my stone wall basement which motivated me to take drastic action. JC Erlicht , my pest control, company recommended that I keep all vegetation away from the house so I invested in a Ryobi!

I rented something like this from home depot, but it didn't really take out my brush. And I had to use my regular weed eater for a few things, but the trimmer itself had good reviews on a lot of test sites and channels I've been on. A lot of my brush and shrub that was growing up I ended up just digging up. A lot of it had seemed to grow back after only using a lopper last year

Some advice: adjust the carb to run richer cos its set very lean from the factory. Dont use 50:1 fuel mix its just about enough lubrication for the engine. Use 40:1 it provides better lubrication and doesnt sacrifice power. Your machine will last a lot longer and run better by doing these 2 things

Hey Joe, I just got one of these bad boys and like it a lot. Not sure how to change the head to put the weed whacker on though. I know it came with the tool to lock the blade but I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to lock it. It would be awesome if you made a video to display how to do that on this particular brush cutter!

Thanks for the review. I just picked up a Ryobi 2 cycle 17” trimmer. Haven’t opened the box yet but will next weekend. I also picked up the brush cutter but was surprised to see that the edges weren’t sharper. I have a question and if anyone can help, I’d appreciate it. Does anyone recommend TruFuel and if so, what ratio? If not, how do I mix gasoline with the oil? I’ve always had electric trimmers so please excuse my ignorance. Do I pour the whole bottle of the oil they supply with a gallon of gasoline? For me, mixing is always confusing. That why I inquired about TruFuel. Thanks in advance for any input, it’s appreciated.
@jetenginethrust863
@jetenginethrust863 5 жыл бұрын
Look up your oil to gas ratio online or in the users manual. I need your model # to look up the correct oil to fuel ratio for your weed whacker. Tru-Fuel is much better suited for you because you don't have any experience mixing fuel with oil. The following KZbin video is one of the most simplest to understand. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXXRfYaXoLp0fqs If you can afford it get the ratio premixed Tru-Fuel recommended by the MFG of your Ryobi 2 cycle weed trimmer. Lots of videos here on KZbin on how to mix but to be honest I want to smack the shit out of most of them for not explaining how to do it without confusing someone without any experience. Get a mixing bottle like this one on Amazon Maxima Racing Oils 10920 Quick-2-Mix Oil/Gas Ratio Mixing Bottle. Shoot me a message thru here on KZbin if you have any questions, BTW I'm a 54yr old professional A&P Mechanic/Aircraft Mechanic.

Are you able to swap blades to a circular blade instead of the three blade that it comes with? Looking for something sharper to cut with. If so, what is a blade that will be compatible with this Ryobi?
@GettinJunkDone
@GettinJunkDone 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Hannah, thanks for the comment. I'm pretty sure that there will blades that will fit. Plenty have done that very conversion. In the end, I no longer own this Ryobi and have since upgraded to an Echo PAS that can take different attachments. One attachment I have is the circular saw blad style brush cutter that you describe. It works great. BTW, I'll be using your comment during my live stream this Sunday, Episode 37. Hope you can check it out.

Did I hear you say the head guard may OR MAY NOT be used? You mad bugger - ALWAYS use all safety equipment and every safety part supplied (and even buy extras)... you're not invincible you know! Nice video by the way, I've just bought one of these.
@GettinJunkDone
@GettinJunkDone 4 жыл бұрын
I know that you are probably right, but I have never used the guard on any of my trimmers. This brush cutter is also cutting thicker material that tends to just flop over instead of flying through the air like sand and pebbles do with a normal trimmer. Again, I know that you are right, but I've never used them and I never see the professional landscapers use them, at least in my area. Again, I know you're right. Thanks for watching...even though I know you're right.

The shoulder strap came with the brush cutter attachment. Echo also supplies one with their attachment. I'm assuming that most manufacture would have something similar. I bet you can find a strap that would work online, ebay or amazon is where I'd start.
