I have followed every bodybuilder for 48 years. I started training at 18. I was in Arnolds days. Worked out with him twice. Then I as time goes by I started noticing Lee Priest, and kept watching him all through his career. Now I know many will disagree however, if you look at the full package of Lee's legs, forearms, abs, biceps etc., his symetry is perfect, and one of the best bodybuilders I would say in the top ten ever. He has a witty personality, and just an all around good guy. I have heard comments about his tattoo's who gives a shit. He had to stay clean cut for so long he earned the right to say F**k it, and enjoy somewhat relaxing while being what he wants to be.

Lee is the most consistent personality in bodybuilding over all these years. I love how he didn’t attack anyone about the skipping body parts thing. A small joke about flamingo legs but didn’t name anyone and also just talks about the logic, about getting what you want from the gym. Just train arms and calves if that’s all you need from your training. He’s so based and not a snarky guy like so many newer “personalities”
@iargueta12203 жыл бұрын
Some people just can’t understand that once a week is enough to build muscle if you do it properly. One person actually got mad at me because they asked me how often I did chest and I told them once a week, they thought I was lying.You should spend about 45 min to 1 hour working now that’s it! Five exercises per muscle group 1 minute rest max between sets, 3 to 5 sets whatever you prefer. On leg day and back day you can rest longer periods because those are hard days. Take a good supplement immediately after working out! Do this and in two months you will have impressive gains

Much of what Lee said is what Mike Mentzer was saying 30-40 years ago while being ridiculed and ignored by many.
@midnightflyer75103 жыл бұрын
Mentzer was all about minimal number of sets though and destroying a given body part in one or two ridiculous sets. I don’t think he ever advocated 20 sets for any body part, let alone biceps. Forced reps and strip sets was Mike’s game as was Dorian’s who followed Mike’s “Heavy Duty” training protocol. Sometimes he would even rest longer than a week just to recover from the damage done!
@Coneman33 жыл бұрын
I know. Mentzer argued for training once a week per body part and that you cannot change the shape of a muscle via different exercises. These were controversial decades ago but now Lee is advocating them. Lee said biceps only need training once a week. Less controversial these days but heresy in the past. I’m not saying everyone trains like Mentzer now, but we have moved somewhat towards his position.
@midnightflyer75103 жыл бұрын
@@Coneman3 My buddy was fascinated with Mentzner and high intensity back in the early nineties. Big Dorian fan too. He wound up paying Mike for phone consultations. I remember him sometimes waiting 9 days to train a muscle, especially legs, but he would obliterate it with one or two exercises, one set each! It would work for a while but then he would go back to more volume after it stopped working. We all trained a body part once/week back then but if you did HIT, you had to drastically cut vol. Our conclusion after years was that it’s good to periodize HIT in but not for long since it can lead to injury as Dorian found out regularly. My buddy hasn’t done HIT in years cause of injuries. He finally earned his pro card as a masters! I thought the trend these days was training a body part more often, 2-3x/wk. Sometimes I’ll train 2x/wk but for the most part, it’s still 1x/wk for me even after 35 years.
@Coneman33 жыл бұрын
It can be hard to keep up HIT, although there are many different interpretations of exactly what it is. John Little advocated a very brief version, Arthur Jones an extreme ott version imo. As you increase intensity, you have to reduce training frequency and maybe this point is lost on many. I also believe changing exercises is a good thing, as well as not always using max intensity. My best tip is instead of doing more than 1 identical set of anything is to do single sets of different exercises. This puts maximal stress on different groups of muscle fibres to increase overall muscle stimulation. Intensity is the most important factor in muscle growth stimulation but there are other tactics which can help which don’t involve increasing intensity. Ultimately though intensity increase has to be the general goal. No big bodybuilder uses light resistance. Frequency of training depends on individual recovery ability, age, health, gear etc. 4-7 days is supposed to be minimum time for full muscle recovery.
@danstafford59773 жыл бұрын
@@Coneman3 When you have a 20 inch arm it only needs to be trained once a week... a 20-inch arm needs more recovery time than a 15 inch arm... the heavier the weight it takes less frequency!
