[SAMSUNG GALAXY FOLD UNBOXING]
As I walk to FedEx to send back my Galaxy Fold review sample, one thought in my mind overrides every other: "how do I get one back in my hands?" Because even though it costs nearly $2000, and it's big and heavy and you need to treat it with kid gloves … the Galaxy Fold really does help those of us who do a lot of computing on the go, and don’t always want to carry a laptop.

@waynosfotos
@waynosfotos 4 жыл бұрын
I have to disagree, why is it not perfect? Phones years ago where a lot smaller, yet we now complain about a smaller front screen??? When a huge screen is a fold away!!! Yes some apps don’t fit the format, but this is a app thing, not a phone thing. apps for some strange reason keep using different form factors so is any phone perfect for all apps? Look at IG, why a square, it is a real dumb format, then they do stories, with a different form factor? So something has to be under par. I have the phone, it is great! Yes insta stories chop the top and bottom, would be nice if you could just pinch it in, like a tablet (which it really is). I do feel Sumsung have done a great job with this fone for a first release, it is premium, built very well, has top specs, and just a joy to use. As for the crease, I know you see it on these vids but in reall life it is very hard to see, you need to tilt the phone to see it, watching content you can’t see it. The main downside is really the price, but buy a top apple with the new Ipods and you are not that far away, with just a normal phone.

@@imperfectninja6291 by the 6 or 7th step the device will be around $2800. I havent seen and line of devices that has lowered in price after step 1... by the time folks get what they are looking for in this device it still will be overlooked or frowned upon because of price. I'm glad to invest in step 1, we investors are the reason there is a step 6 or 7. No iphone 11 if no one purchased 1 or 2, no note 10 if no one purchased 1 or 2. No fold 6 or 7 as u wait for if no one purchased 1 or 2. But this thing has sold out in other countries so its definitely for someone. For myself, I am glad I now have a folding tablet in my pocket, its exactly what I have been looking for and have no regrets for paying $1980 or the future $2800 lol. #not4everybody

@@TMW_ShadowStarr I am gentle with it but I'm that way with all of my phones. The only thing I was worried about was scratching the inner display but even that fear has faded. I find that phone calls, messages, light internet surfing can be done with the primary screen, so I only open my phone about 20-30 times a day when I'm playing games, watching KZbin or reading large articles. I sold my Note 10+ when I got the Fold and I don't regret it one bit.

my opinion on the fold after having owned it you cannot see the crease you can however feel the crease it is extremely fragile i would not recommend it for that reason like one mistake and the screen is gone you have nails if you touch those on the screen in a bad way that screen is gone and i can't recommend that type of thing playing games you are always careful not to touch a nail on the screen you focus on it all the time the notch is impossible not to swipe over to get to the notificationpanel the notch is the biggest problem i have with this phone the outer screen could have been used for the normal camera so you could use the normal as a selfiecamera the screen is way too warm like most galaxy devices seem to be thats a personal opinion i wish it had a symmetrical design the corners did not need that curve the other side could have that big metal bar as well that metal bar is just amazing to touch and hold i love it yeah the batterylife is incredible so much that i have gotten careless on charging because it lasts well through 2 days on EXTREME usage like 2 hours of gaming and screen on max brightness all in all great attempt and you start to love it but it's better to wait for bendable glass it's an amazing thing but paying 2400 for what is essentially a prototype is stupid even if you're rich unless you desperately need the big screen for work, on the other hand the quirkyness gives it character it's not just a boring phone it is unique and that makes it feel different makes me think back to the old htc advantage

I agree. I do believe the Galaxy Fold is the future of smartphones. Being one of those people who uses their phone for both entertainment and productivity (I’m using an iPhone Xs Max by the way), the Galaxy Fold is very appealing for people like me thanks to the big 7 inch screen that can fit in your pocket. It’s a phone when you just need to make a call, a tablet for work and everything else. However, the very expensive price tag, the fragility of the device (no IP rating, the plastic screen, etc) and the app optimization for such a device are still big issues that need to be resolved. I love the Fold, it’s a very practical and exciting device, however as of right now, it’s more of a proof of concept than anything. But, at the very least, we know it can work and that people are excited for such a device.

I love my iPad mini...it’s the perfect travel reading size. At bars, airports, road trips, etc. The problem with it is the actual “travel” part. I always wished I could fold it up and put it in my pocket instead of needing to shove it in a backpack. Now I can do that😀. The front screen is awesome for quick interactions...Caribou coffee rewards scanning, quick check for next upcoming meeting, podcast controller. The beauty is you can set your outer home screen different from your main home screen, showing they put a lot of effort into the software interface, not just the hardware design. Best Buy’s has these on display at certain stores. Swing by, worth the visit.

I think this problem of the screen can be resolved including dustproof & water if they use a different mechanism, for example, "like the screen is rolled in a pillar, like a projector screen and when we unfold the display comes out with it. also, this may be arranged in so many configurations, with lower curvature(less fatigue) to the display". obviously this design is a flaw and required to change this. but the foldable seamless display, Definitely possible. Another example, LG Foldable TV.

Watched this video on a Fold and couldn't agree more, thanks, Samsung, for making smartphones exciting again! Switched from an iPhone X and battery life is so much better!

Smartphone companies push for bezelless designs and curved screens because some people (Tech Reviewers) think the average consumer want that. Sure notches are and have always looked ridiculous, but tear drop designs like OnePluse 7 or even the Essential Phone are perfectly fine. We simply want a device with a great screen (tear drop is fine), excellent camera, clear audio and a battery that will last at least 2 days.

Like all new technology it will become much more popular when the price comes down to where we can all afford it. For now I'll stay with my S10 plus which I was able to snag for $600 just 4 months after its initial release.

The Fold is an incredible versatile device. Practically 2 devices in 1 with mobility a major upside. Imo I prefer to carry less weight and bulk with 1 device rather than a phone and say notebook/tablet separately.

The Galaxy fold should be a part of the Note line. The internal screen screams for s-pen support imagine how much more use you could get out of it. if they get it working across the fold, and get the kinks out by the 3rd gen I'd buy it as my next phone upgrade. Or I'll probably just get the note 13 which ever comes out first.

Nice job on this review. You focused on the “feeling” and experience vs specs and “facts”. That’s a harder story to tell and you did a great job. 👍

It's been the better part of a decade since technology has been legitimately cool. I may not find the fold to be the best phone on the market, but it certainly would be the most exciting to own. And I will say, spending $1,000 on something boring versus spending $2,000 on something exciting... I don't know, maybe it's worth it
