How is the buffeting? One of the major complaints with the 2020 edition was that you couldn't drive them with the window down any faster than 50kmph / 30mph without getting beat up. And if there is a Kia made version of the Ford Mustang. They called it the Genesis Coup, it's a thing of the past with Genesis splitting to become a separate brand, and the advent of the Stinger and G70, but the old Genesis was a RWD mid size V6 that leaned towards performance. Just like base models of the Mustang.
@savagegeese

Yes it sucks. (Buffeting) The only way Toyota will address it is the owners of the car go to the dealership and complain.

I was waiting for this video ever since the 2.0 was revealed. Thank you for being the only car reviewer, as I expected, to give a specific comparison between the 2.0 and 3.0, unlike the vast majority who only mentions differences that are evident on paper even when they have a chance to drive the actual car. You also are the only car reviewer who also is not jaded by the enthusiast crowd, who will always yell 6-cylinders and more horsepower, giving more weight to your unbiased reviews. You never once said "I wish it had more horsepower." like what every other 2.0 reviewer says, cementing that they already sit in the cabin with the mindset that it's not it's own car but just a lesser version of the 3.0. Even though the 2.0 was most likely not the focus for selling out of Asia, Tada-san must be content to have one non-Japanese reviewer understand why the 2.0 exists and what he did to make it unique. My straights mean traffic and I have no access to a track. Now I can feel more confident about making the right purchase when I do pick up the 2.0 (or a Miata... lol).

Yep, SG definitely took off the nostalgia goggles so many other reviewers have on and they call an apple an apple. It's a tuner version of a BMW they slapped a nostalgic name on to sell cars; it's a great car, but it's an upgraded BMW Z clown shoe and the driving DNA shines through, it's not a real in house designed Supra like the Nissan Z35 is a true JDM evolution of a JDM legend. If Toyota called it something else, anything else, folks like myself would have been irked less but the fact they tried to pull the wool over our eyes, the Zupra is just a lie on wheels, albeit a fast one. Way to go Toyota, you went from being a great OEM with the AE86, GT-Four, MK4 and SW20, to a high end slippery spineless tuner shop.

As 2020 owner I am not even mad, you are just $2k away of 430whp with a couple of mods and a Tune. Would be interesting to see the Tuning potential on the 2021 with the 10:1 pistons. As for the 6 vs 2 exhaust ports, I don't think that's a bottle neck at all, people are pushing 650/700 whp and the transmission starts to slip before the Engine is maxed out. The only concern would be price wise, the 2020 will drop in price, but if you keep the car long term that is not an issue either. We appreciate this kind of reviews Mark, great quality and honesty. My second car is fact the Z4M (06) and my Supra is exactly the Matte Gray, just like the one reviewed. It's funny to see both reviews from you just weeks between them!

Last time I was this early, the FRS wasn't rusty underneath But on a serious note, I can't believe Toyota still REFUSES to offer this with a manual. Most of the people I've seen buying these cars are car enthusiasts in some regard and many who would've otherwise considered it did not solely because of the auto-only option. I'm guessing it's because BMW doesn't want competition between the Supra and M2 more than anything else! Also, thank you so much for actually looking at those suspension changes and chassis changes underneath! So many car journalists don't examine cars in such detail as you do and it's what keeps me coming back to your channel every review!

They won't add it because it would kill their upcoming GT86 replacement that has manual. It sucks that they are manipulating you this way. Why not let the product speak for it self? Make GT86 worthy, and lightweight, and people will choose it over the heavy Supra to carve mountains even if they both had manuals. This way two subpar products and you must choose lesser evil.

It's so unique compared to any other KZbinr. Also, don't feel sorry for me for owning a 2020 Supra. The changes from 2021 don't effect me as much as I'm not leaving it stock... a $300 catless downpipe and $500 tune which I can upload from my IPhone is good for 500 crank hp. I think people latch on WAY too much to the old Supra, and completely disregard this one for not being a 100% Toyota product. I mean, in reality, the Mk4 probably wasn't as good as this. It's straight up a huge evolution, and still adds up that space for a heapload of tuning ability like the Mk4 had, except probably being a whole lot better. And its just like Savagegeese said, adding a manual to it, giving the interior a more Toyota look with that mk4 look except modernized, and for the love of god disabling the damn fake engine noise, and imo people couldn't bitch anymore about it. Unless they're just unpleasable.

That was a surprisingly balanced take on these cars, thank you for actually taking the Toyota-BMW partnership seriously. Objectively, it's a match made in heaven! Toyota with the precision, the quality control and the renewed passion they're showing just by actually producing a MK V Supra, and BMW who have stubbornly stuck with rev-happy, front engine RWD I-6s in their true sports-cars... Combining these different cultures and producing the new Supras and the new Z4s should be applauded! Toyota didn't really need to produce a new real performance sports-car and BMW didn't really need to produce a new performance roadster, in fact, neither of the marques really objectively needed this. In fact it's just joyous that both BMW and Toyota still have the nerve, the will and the funds to actually bring new enthusiast cars to the market. In this day and age, it really has to be commended, because truth be told, these cars will probably decrease the profit margins of both Toyota and BMW. They did it anyway! They both should be commended for actually providing serious sports-cars at actually reasonable prices, given that these models will be low-production niche cars at any price these days.

The complaint about the BMW collaboration is realistically silly when you consider all the facts of what it takes in today's world to successfully produce and sell these type of cars. And if you really think about it, it's actually a GREAT blend. You borrow some BMW engineering and add in Toyota's painstaking reliability standards, and THEN price it below the cost of a BMW equivalent. I see absolutely nothing to complain about!

To be fair to him, I think there's a pretty big difference between a track-day car, something you could take to the track once in a while, and a track/race car, designed predominantly to be driven on the track.
@hyperbomb02
@hyperbomb02 4 жыл бұрын
Toyota also said it was targeted at the Cayman, a car with a manual. Clearing the air though, a car can be designed with track days in mind, but that doesn't mean they are going to take track days with no issue stock. Early 86 had track day fuel pump, brake, and (arguably) tire problems and that car was specifically targeted at trackdays. Hell Toyota/a dealer was sued and had to pay because of it.

The mx5 was a collab car as well, but it has a dedicated manual! The difference to me is that Mazda is actually trying to build a car for the market, where as Toyota is having someone else build a car for the market & then their marketing department is trying to tell people what they want. To me, Mazda should be the example of how a collab sports car is done properly WRT preserving the manual.

Actually Mark, Tada-san said that, they'd pop the strut brace on when they increase the power output. He also said that, on the v1.0 Supra, they left the brace out so as to achieve a perfect "balance" (because the torsional rigidity is higher than that of the LFA), and that the enthusiast could add them because the airbox was designed to take it whilst also leaving holes for it. Thanks again, guys for enriching us with a 'premium' viewing experience (even though there were a few typos here and there).

Review drags on a bit in the beginning but I won't knock 'em down for artistic license. This is the most intelligent review I've seen on this vehicle. So many clueless KZbinrs out there. These guys did their homework. The gas consumption of this vehicle versus performance and price point is incredible, IMO. As for the BMW'ish aspect, it's more a cost issue. Most of the Supra buyers probably don't care. Collaborative development is needed these days due to cost of production. As for the manual, yes, I understand, but money and profit says the very low percentage of buyers is not worth the financial risk.

It's just like the same Keyboard Warriors whom talk sh*t on the A90 Supra "not being a whole Toyota car", yet where was everyone when the A80 Supra MK4 was in dealerships when that vehicle was a poor seller?
