I live in San Diego and i dont blame the sea lions. Finally, he got his get back , for himself AND the homies. People (mostly tourists) have been harrassing them for years. They see all humans as a threat now. Even the ones who arent bothering them. Leave them tf alone!!!

So weird that it would bite a man who was (ahem) clearly doing his best to stay away from the sea lion and leave it alone.

Sure hope that sea lion is OK. I guess sea lions are as territorial as surfers.

Back in the 90s there were no sea lions on those beaches so what happened, overly protection and now they have overly populated or moving around?🤓

Yes. Biting humans is a rare sea lion behavior [except in South Africa - Rabies] BECAUSE over a couple hundred years time they learned to stay far away from humans because they'd get killed. Biting and other attacks will now become more common as they lose that well justified fear of man. They're kind of like Coyotes that way.
