@Piñata Canelita Or just normal women. Spanking for instance ripples the uh, lady gutter, in a supposedly not unpleasant way. So, women do enjoy a good spank. Not some, most. The thing is, there's a difference between one good slap on her arse to get her fired up for action, and a whole series of slaps being the action. It's the ones where the slaps are the action that you need to be worried about. Those be the ones with daddy issues.

I don't think it should ever be accepable to hit another person (male or female), especially if they're significantly weaker than you, except in self-defence (as in, stopping them from them attacking you). If your partner, male or female, is so irritating to you that you feel the need to resort to slapping, you shouldn't be with them in the first place, so break up. People will crucify Chris Rock then make excuses for Sean because he's 'classic' or I don't know what.

This is not about streetfights. This is about slapping her back into her place. He is an old 50s-60s Macho, i remind you. Thats why he says "Then we get into another area" after she asks him what happens when a woman slaps back. Because then its a fight. The thing about not punching women ever in any situation is not rooted in emancipation, but in the context of non-emancipated society. It was the "moralist" position of those who though of women as the weak sex and more like innocent children than adults. Furthermore, women were at the considerably shorter lever in almost all possible, societal, legal, physical, fiscal etc. ways. The position Connery takes is the "pragmatic" position inside the same framework. For him, its like beating an unruly child to get it back in line. Thats why its just a slap. Beating women, though it happened through all classes of society, was seen as brutish and something lower class people would do. At least in public. It was seen as an act of a man that was not mentally strong enough to keep his wife under control by other, more elegant, means. In an emancipated relationship, there is no justification or "sound reason" for any of the participants to beat the other. Because nobody has to be put back in line in the first place. Nobody has the right to force the other to do what they want and nobody is entitled to exclude the other from a decision that includes them.

I´ve slapped a guy once when he just kept talking and talking in the middle of a group project and we had a deadline / it was sorta a competition. And I felt bad immediately afterwards. It depends how strong the person is who is giving the slap. Will a woman suddenly forget the effect a violent slap in face from her husband has had on her? Couldn't that memory of violence give her nightmares just as much as a verbal abuse could to the mind? I'm sure you'd agree with that, but to say one act of bullying would leave more mental scarring than the other is a mistake.

You’ve failed Sean Connery. Your manhood has failed you and you’ll never sleep with Miss Moneypenny. You’re supposed to slap the woman so she can’t say the hurtful things, but to be slapped by a woman instead of risking your feelings... You woman of a man.

@@shadowviruz I cannot believe what I'm reading. You talk about Sean Connery speaking from the perspective of what was "normal in his time". If that is the case then I'm led to believe that you are of this time also, o Any man that knows how to convey his frustration or anger towards a Woman without hitting her, is a man I respect..Why does anyone need to hit another person to achieve silence? I say it's because they lack the intelligence, moral standing and the maturityl The only time I'd excuse it was in an act of self defence, if the lady was repeatedly trying to attack him with a knife for example and she was am expert in the use that knife. Even then I'd have a heavy heart. It's quite clear that Sean Connery had a short fuse when it came to this issue. A decent man would walk away to defuse a situation that became heated with a woman, if all other means fail. But his way of bringing an end to an argument which reached tipping point would be to slap her. You agree with this?! Shame on you. I'm not naive enough to think that everyone can be reasoned with. There are many women who do like to test a man's patience to the limit, waiting for him to take the bait. But you need to be bigger than that! It's the weak way out to slap anyone you're having an argument with, simply because they're baiting you. Just because it was supposedly "normal", doesn't make it right, either then or now; no matter how you try to dress it up. I can't fathom how you can say one is more hurtful than the other. I think you are speaking about your own reaction to both. The fact is that both acts are hugely disrespectful. Slapping anyone to shut them up is thuggish. If the power in your choice of words is not enough to calm her, the be the better person and walk away. I know that may be hard for some. But I don't care how hard or soft the slap is. It's the intent because once you raise your hand you've lost control.

Well instead of answering any of the points in my novel, you decide to criticise me for it's length. You could've expanded on the point in your argument about me proving Sean Connery right, but you did not. You must really hate reading novels. You must be an odd person to find my long response to your pointless reply staggering. What you should really be staggered about is your lack of criticism of Sean Connery for wanting to hit a Woman. Here’s a story for y’all. My father grew up in a big family(8 kids) he was number 8. After playing outside with his friends he came home to get a drink and planned on returning to his friends down the street. My grandmother saw how filthy and dirty he was and demanded that he take a bath. My dad did not like this and wanted to go back to playing outside. She began to chase him around the house when he said no lol. He ended up slipping on a rug in the living room by the window and crashed his head through it. I was told by him and my oldest uncle that there was blood everywhere. She became hysterical and started screaming and crying. My oldest uncle phoned my grandfather at work about what to do(grandmother didn’t have a license or drive) He asked my uncle “who the hell is crying and babbling on? I can hardly hear you!?” He said it’s mom, gramps said give her a good slap to calm her down. He did, she calmed down. Lots of stitches and he caught a pretty good whooping when he came home per my dad. Hey I guess sometimes you gotta slap. Just a story I remembered when coming across this gem lol.

This guy. This guy was so hot back then than my mom, who was the kind of feminist you wouldn't want to mess with, gave him a pass after seeing this interview. She told me something along the lines of "he's so charming, I might let him slap me". I really miss my mum and Mr.Connery's death felt like she died again a little.

This is wrong on so many levels, reminds me of my father who would slap my mother if she didn't agree with what he said

It definitely does. "Can't leave it alone" just means he eventually gets sick of her "nagging" or "not dropping it" and eventually hits her. My dad was like this to my mom as well where if she kept "needling" him, as he said, he would slap or push her. All the guys in the comments agreeing with him is scary, it really doesn't sound like they would hit women as a "last resort" but rather just because they have a short fuse and short temper

@@Allison_Hart then it's quite obvious why you think they way you do.... you both can't be comparing your experience and putting everything in the same basket.... completely different situations and context.... him and that wife were happily married for over 30 years... she loved him dearly and he treated her well.... no1 should hit anyone.. but like he said some people know just what buttons to push, especially women because most of them who do that crap are entitled and think no1 will check them... while causing way more damage then a wake up slap would ever do... also probably why you can't relate because most men don't do that to women, they try to let things go or move forward.... a lot of women would kill themselves if they had to deal with the same crap men do from their partners half the time but men don't even mention it.... you 2 sound like your thinking about the extremes and using a minuscule amount of the population to add the same context to everything... also to all the plebs on here... the law ain't about what's good or bad..... in fact those who pretend to uphold the law eg Gov', police etc usually the most abusive and or break the most laws...... Police officers have the highest amount of domestic abuse among all jobs..... stop living your lives based on the law be free and a good person.... and yes that does mean protect yourself and your space if it gets to a point where it might escalate even more if you don't.... if you know you know, if you don't then your lucky no1 has ever pushed you that far.... even monks have a line...

Male, female, I don't think its right to hit ANYBODY in the face if you're in a relationship. Violence isn't acceptable and if that's all that's left to communicate your anger and thoughts then its time for the relationship to end.
