One thing I remember about the military, which took me 3 years to learn. If you try just a bit harder at your job (I’m not talking about killing yourself or being a doormat of your dignity), people notice right away, as there are so many lazy asses you have as peers. I’m not talking about being a blue Falcon or an ass kisser, but staying an hour after shift change to finish a task is almost alien, and draws questions and intrigue from supervisors. But yeah, save your money, don’t buy a bunch of crap, or run up your Nex/AAFES credit card on crap.

I know so many people that would be just above average, and they'd always end up f'ed with more work, while the lazy POS right next to them got a nam or a map. It happened to me with chores growing up a lot so it took me a hot minute to notice this toxic phenomenon

I spent 9 months in AT A school. Where did they send me? A ship in the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. Spent the next year and a half chipping paint.

@@paulpeterson5214 The only reason it ended was because we got out of the shipyard and started doing workups for deployment which meant we started working with the air wing and AIMD was very short staffed. I forgot to mention we were homeported in San Diego yet Philly was the shipyard they sent us to.

@@911babygoat listen it's so bad every rdc wanna just leave. Meps brining in so many broken recruits with torretts to suicide to physical disabilities that shouldn't even be waved. I was in seps cause I broke my ankle half way. It was a 135 people in a compartment (that mean it was over packed because it's only 3 compartments.) We had to walk 6 miles a day for chow cause of how packed we where. You got people in there claiming suicide to leave and so many p day recruits are not making it into p days. Swimmers that can't swim or just need to pass swim to graduate boot camp has to pass swim or keep trying until the contract is up. So many are there I know 10 of them that has been in boot camp for 6 months. When I say it's bad right now brother its sooo bad.

Man lol... i ended up on my own at 16 and i've basically just figured it out until 34. I got a wife and dependents and i've been a welder for 7 years. Should be good right? Nah, struggling just to keep up rent. So thats a big motivator for my enlistment (just got MEPS left) I guess I need some parental oversight to take care of a few things for me so I can have a break lmao

Go to medical, and always check the note afterwards in the in your physical record or the online portal to verify something got documented. But wait until your through you school pipe line IF you can. You're first year they failure to adapt separate for the dumbest stuff. Like 3 UTIs in 1 year can lead to a separation. Once they've invested money into educating you they start moving toward retention rather than separation. They're always gonna choose the cheap path. That being said, it you are hurt absolutely seek medical attention. I think I started documenting everything about 2 years in and now at 10½ years I'm considered 90% disabled and there was almost no debate because of my very through record

Cut for sure, no questions asked. But there are waivers available afterwards,depending on the condition of your skin to where you don't shave so often and in some cases not at all.

@@911babygoat Already going through the process my homie that’s a little older was in for 6 years as a SWO paid off his student loans got a house. Bare minimum I want that plus the benefits I’m looking at it as a way to put myself above my peers but also a way to set up the family I plan on starting. I’m also the type of person that doesn’t like change so I’m thinking of trying to run that 20 come out at 45 with that pension (if I don’t make it to 20 that’s fine by me as well)
