Rebeca Cervantes Kurt Cobain was also known as a chronic liar. He probably first used heroin for recreational purposes and then found out how well it also helped with his stomach problems. I don't mean any offense to Kurt by calling him a chronic liar, but he was and he liked doing it; lying to journalists and what not, always fabricating stories.

Sid had neither of them. Many people show empathy towards other celeb overdose tragedy but say awful stuff about Sid almost everytime and before you call him a murderer just get your facts straight that it was never proven and it was in the old days where forensic science (DNA fingerprints)was not well developed. Poor sid, if he only held it together for a few more years MTV would've be on the seen and Sid at the ripe old age of 24 yrs old would have been right there to lead it. He would've been the ambassador to carry punk rock into the 80s. Who knows what could've been. If he only Punk'd on for just a few more yrs. I remember as a twelve year old kid watching Sid's my way on MTV and being blown away because I'd never seen anything like that before. You had only to soldier on and the tide would have turned here in the USA also. Rest n Peace Sid n Nancy.

Punk had a bigger scene in the '80s than in 1977. It went underground, got tougher, often a lot faster and more abrasive. U.S. punk (check out Soul Jazz's _Punk 45_ compilations) and mostly hardcore punk through the '80s (scenes in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Austin, Washington D.C., New York, &c.) and British street punk/UK82, Oi!. Check out the playlist on my channel if interested in U.S. punk. Plus, MTV and punk: that's a paradox. You could say Nirvana did that, but Kurt wasn't punk; Kurt was more an emo ahaha

It’s arguable that Billy Idol had the career Sid could’ve had if he’d been a decent singer and kept away from the drug scene in the late 70s. Their images were similar, except one had black hair and the other blonde. They had the same sneer and attitude, they knew each other and were part of the same scene, Idol was in the Bromley contingent, the first group of people to follow the pistols about, and he had been in one of the original punk bands, Generation X.

Yes,, You are right.I'm sure It IS Keith Levene. I only looked at it once before I wrote what I did and looking at it now I recognise him. I have a few good books of photo collections of the scene and most young people don't realise how small the actual number of people into the punk scene were in London in those days. You see the same people again and again, Particularly at the Roxy as that wasn't around for that long. I love The Slits, I believe it is them. I saw Don Letts a few weeks ago doing a DJ set. right near where I live. It was excellent listening to songs he would have played back then.

strumbolli Great taste in music.Everyone you named is someone I like. The funniest thing is I'm actually wearing a King Tubby T shirt and it's the first time I've worn in in about 5 years. I like a lot of US bands like Television and the MC5 but The Velvets have to be one of my favourite bands ever and Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent are real heroes of mine.. I even got the same model guitar that Eddie Cochran used. I went to see the Velvets when they got back together in the 90's. They played Glastonbury.It's on here. It's hilarious because people complain that ''Pale blue eyes' sounds better on the record''. They obviously haven't heard any live recordings of them before.. That looks like Shane MacGowan at the bar leaning against the wall.. I've seen him in Julien Temple footage too. There is some footage shown often whenever Punk is mentioned on TV where he has a Union Jack top on. I was born in 67 and my brother was born in 66. It was a good time to grow up in. One of my g/f's mothers isn't much older than me and she's in 'The Punk rock movie' and in photos in books I own. The Clash have always been one of my favourite bands. I got to see the last incarnation of them without Mick and Topper. That's the album no-one talks about. 'This is England'. 'Bernie Rhodes knows, don't argue! :-)

He was a kind hearted guy, after all. R. I. P. Sid.

"Kindhearted?" He strangled cats to death, blinded a young girl by smashing a bottle in her face and beat Nancy Spungeon relentlessly.

When he wasn’t high he was extremely talented but people forget he was only 21 when he died. C’mon Everybody, Something Else, a cult version of My Way, the Johnny Thunders cover Born to Lose. Sid was quality and brought Great Rock and Roll Swindle to Life and his vocals are very clear in that film. Also no Sid no Duff Rose McKagen. He inspired a generation of low slung bass players. It is great just to see him being natural as often hammed it up for the cameras.
@fintonmainz78452 жыл бұрын
No he did not influence bass players.
@misfit20222 жыл бұрын
@Finton Mainz I have been challenged many times but this is the easiest to debunk. Duff McKagen has said many times he was influenced by Sid.

It takes a certain character and strength to be thrown into the limelight, if you don't possess that you will look for support and when your friend's don't fulfill your needs artificial ways provide. Bless Sid.

I watched this and i couldn't take my eyes off him, very charming, sweet, you feel like you want to give him a hug. Too bad he was raised so fucked up. If he'd had decent parents or just a decent mother he might still be here.

Ha! Most videos and documentaries about Sid greedily cling to the myths of the subject; this video tears them apart. It shows he was just a normal shy kid. Not really a punk legend at all.

Sid was cool, but nobody could say he had talent, he didn't even play on the album (bollocks). He was def. a true punk but didn't have any talent at all....He was like a punk cheerleader for the band, not a musician...
@johnstoner6666 жыл бұрын
How was he a punk? By being high and drunk all day long, thats fighting the man YEAH! great couldn't play his instrument at all but I do admire Sex Pistols letting him "play" just for the factor of him being crazy. He wasn't punk, he was glorified junkie.

Two future members of PIL there with Sid ... Keith Levine pissing about with his Brothel Creepers and Jeanette Lee on his left, later of Rough Trade, who ironically ended up on the cover of the Flowers of Romance album (Wobble had left by then ...) which was a name Sid coined as a possible band name - Sid also coined Jah Wobble while we're at it. It's also amusing to read the comments below from people who weren't even alive during this time - most have no clue who any of these people are or the significance of the moment culturally or otherwise ... out of the mouths of babes.

Sad to see. He was a a misunderstood young man given the keys to the sweet shop. at about 128 in the film , he has an instant change in his appearance. I hope he has found the peace he wanted . I am sure there are bad people willing to supply things to vulnerable people all the time. Damn them ,save fragile people in need to express themselves

He was relaxed with Nancy more than anyone else. Nobody knew Sid better than Nancy. Not even his mother. Maybe the only person as close to Sid as Nancy was John Lyndon but even then he didn’t see the sides of Sid, Nancy saw. Yeah they fought but he would have left and so would she if they didn’t truly love each other.

I remember sid and the other’s and many other groups from those early days of the roxy and just like sid, me and my pal got hooked up on heroin aged just 20yrs old and the day i came home from detention centre my pal also overdosed and past away, I wasn’t with him that night and I always think that if I’d been there I might’ve been able to have saved him, reason being that everyone panicked in the flat and no one phoned an ambulance and he choked on his own vomit. Miss you wease.🙏🏼
