I bought my first loc tool about a month after install. I had intended to take over maintenance of my hair eventually but maybe about a year into the process. At no time did I consider taking the class. There’s so much free information out there. And people tend to find the SL tool uncomfortable anyway. And you have to sign some disclosure about keeping whatever SL info to yourself. 🙄 They’re so secretive. Well, due to recent events, I’ll be maintaining my hair much sooner. I’m now 6 months in and gathering other tools so that I’ll be prepared for my first retie in a couple of weeks. I’m currently on a 4 week schedule and hoping it won’t be too overwhelming. But it beats waiting for my loctician to get back to me about an appointment she cancelled. I don’t like depending on other people. So here goes…

I'm glad you are considering to go ahead and learn how to do it yourself. As you said, the information is our there. I've been after the nappy loc tool for a while but I can't find a dealer that ships to the UK, unfortunately. Practice makes perfect. You can see your consultant a few times a year.

Oh Lord. This is a subject that I been dreading to possibly face. I have ZERO interest in doing my own hair. 😩

The more you self retie it becomes easier I been self retighten my braidlocs for over 2 years now

Excellent idea with the SIM card so that you don’t marry any locs together. I don’t self re-tie and I hope I never have to but marrying locs together and missing up my grid would be my fear. I hope it all works out for you whether your doing the re-tie yourself or you find a loctician. Best of luck to you and by the way your hair still looks fabulous 💗
