She also looks more unsure of herself. Before she came across like she kinda knew what she wanted but was being polite. Now it seems like she is looking for something to tell her what she should want, and I think the more she's told she shouldn't like Ed the more he gets to push that they're soulmates and it's 'us vs the world' and that sadly has a stronger pull.

I’m so conflicted about Liz. Everyone thinks she’s just as bad as Ed, and maybe she is.. But I agree that she looks like a completely different person now than she did in the beginning. Maybe she’s a really great actress and she’s using Ed just as much as he’s using her.. but there is a possibility she really is under his spell and has been so manipulated and put down (Ed LOVES to gaslight women) that she really believes she doesn’t deserve someone better. The amount of self esteem you have to have to stay with someone as awful as Ed especially after breaking up with you over and over is so minuscule it’s nuts. I don’t think she’s 100% innocent, but I don’t think she’s the evil mastermind everyone says she is.. I think she deserves better than him, period. He needs to be on his own and get his head out of his ass (it’s quite a feat he got it up there to begin with, with no neck 😂)

If you look into Big Ed's relationship history, he specifically has been with women who are single moms. I think he seeks women who are looking for better stability and a level of dependency. That's probably because he knows deep down, that he has nothing to offer to an established woman who knows exactly what they want and has the ability to make that happen without his help. He enjoys having the power of being able to manipulate and control them by holding the materialistic benefit over them. Again, because he knows that he has nothing to offer them other than being able to financially support them. I reckon Liz exactly understands this herself. Maybe she just wants to ride it out until he kicks the bucket lol.

Hope my comment doesn't get deleted but it does seem plausible she's thinking "it's only a matter of time." Or she slowly poisons his ass. I don't wish that on anyone it's just a joke. I'm sure she does care for him in some way but I can see her playing the long game. They get married, he cheats or does something stupid, they get divorced, then she gets alimony/half his assets. Hope she doesn't sign a prenup. At this point though isn't she getting her own checks from the show? Guess they don't pay that much.

Exactly. It’s how he makes his money his career. It goes both ways but it kinda seems like she doesn’t take his photography that seriously, and got wayyyyyy to sensitive, yes Ed has been the one to cause that but to argue in front of his client? Even though that chick was her friend, Liz did NOT have to do that right then and there. That’s his job.

I think this really shows how bad their relationship is. A photographer is supposed to hype up their client, especially for beauty shots like this shoot seemed to be. Big Ed sometimes crosses the line with stuff like this but he didn’t seem to do that with this client. It doesn’t really matter if the client is Liz’s friend, he’s getting paid to photograph her and bring out the best in her. I think they both have a lot to work on and maybe they should do that separately before they get married.
@shelbyj1433
@shelbyj1433 Жыл бұрын
not necessarily true. a franchise owner or store manager may work in the same building regularly alongside part time min wage workers. franchise owner/manager probably views this as their career and part time min wage worker is probably just doing it to get through school. they can (and do, as this is how every retail and fast food place works) work together fine. this didn't work out because big ed and liz are a terrible pair and should separate completely.
@erin2394
@erin2394 Жыл бұрын
One of my friends is a photographer and they do compliment their clients, it doesn't cross the line and actually is professional, not flirting. But i do agree, that if Ed brought Liz to one of the shoots, then he should have told her that he's just trying to make a model open up and feel more comfortable, and that it's not flirting. Plus he did a shitty job teaching Liz the basics of photography, he just gaslighted her as if she doesn't know what a camera is

My husband and I have been married for almost five years and still haven’t had an argument yet. I attribute that to many things, but the primary one would be that when we need to tell the other person something uncomfortable, we say something to the effect of, “I’m going to tell you how I feel, but don’t take anything I say personally-I’m trying to find the REAL words for what I’m really trying to say.” This has saved us sooooo many hurt feelings because we don’t always say the right thing on the first try. I haven't seen the rose saga, but the other woman who spoke spanish and had a son (I think her name might've been Kaori or something similar?), she was the one Ed took his mum to meet/translate for him in a way-too-soon visit to her country (I *think* it may have been in Mexico?) - Anyway, I didn't get a single hint of her being in it for the money, in fact every moment she was on screen seemed to be more evidence of her being someone for whom a genuinely non-materialistic outlook wasn't just present, but such a core part of her as to be a non-optional priority - so basically broadcasting at all times the 0% possibility of a successful partnership that lasted longer than it took her to realise the absolute basics of who she was dealing with😅 That, along with her desire to live in the moment mindfully rather than rush things, was why it didn't work out; it was Ed's behaviour of buying her son a bunch of expensive gifts when they met (in an obvious and cringeworthy attempt to 'buy his approval') that really seemed to be the turning point to start to sour her on any possibility of a relationship between the two of them. I wish I could remember more details, but yeah, basically the one impression that stuck with me about the episode was the admiration I had for her utter disinterest in shallowness, being pressured or the materialistic trappings Ed's presence obviously brought with it - not only was she not swayed, it was very clearly a huge *downside* for her. She spent the episode trying to get it through Ed's thick skull that there's more to life and relationships than rushing to a goal, and that she valued taking things slow and enjoying the journey - seriously, every opportunity she had to have some actual input on literally anything, it just *screamed* mindfulness and appreciation of the natural in life. For example, she chose one of their dates, and she took him to a botanical garden and tried in various ways to get him to stop and really experience the beauty in those moment. Naturally, it bounced off Ed's skull like he was equipped with a Teflon helmet to protect him from absorbing anything that might distract him from his full-blown charge towards 'i-love-you-will-you-marry-me-insert-name-here-cmon-i'm-on-the-clock-and-desperately-unwilling-to-be-alone-with-myself'. That bit about the name isn't a joke, btw; he never actually bothered to figure out how to _pronounce her name,_ and the closest he ever got to a conversation with her was having his _mother_ talk with her. It wasn't just a matter of not being able to speak the language as well as he'd like, either; it was painfully obvious he hadn't even made an effort despite having a mum that was fluent in the language. After all, why make an effort to show interest in the culture and language of the woman you claim you fell in love with two seconds after meeting her (not to mention taking an opportunity to demonstrate your sincerity of feeling towards her, plus your good character a whole bunch of ways ie. being open to trying new things, resilience in deciding to learn something new and sticking with it, a positive approach to solving problems with curiosity and a can-do attitude etc etc - the list goes on)? Instead, you can just bring your mum and get her to do all the work of pretending the details other than _'is a woman with a heartbeat who might be convinced to temporarily fill my emotional void'_ actually matter - genius!

I feel like an easier way he could have introduced her to is would be to maybe make it so that Liz was the subject and talk about some of the techniques he used rather than broought her to an actual job. Not only woulld it be less awkward for that friend but it would also build Liz' self esteem would improve and she would actually be more interested.

Sadly, Big Ed was born in the wrong place and wrong century. If he was born in France during the French Revolution his condition would have made him immortal and likely the hero and future leader of the French monarchy. Imagine inventing a whole new way of executing people and someone comes around who can defeat it by just shrugging slightly. Morale would be at an all-time low allowing the royals to distribute Marie Antoinette's cake and defeat the revolutionaries! But... I guess that timeline will just have to be inaccessible to us. I bet that's the one that turned out good in the end too!

To go on a slight tangent; I may say that I have unconditional love for someone but what are the the conditions? I would still love my baby sister if she was a serial killer?I know it's the more of a sentiment than the actual meaning of the word, but I always found it a bit disingenuous I guess.

I’m so conflicted about Liz. Everyone thinks she’s just as bad as Ed, and maybe she is.. But I agree with others that she that she looks like a completely different person now than she did in the beginning (she looks 20 years older, no spark in her eyes or personality anymore).

I agree. He's so manipulative that you don't need a neck to see. I believe he prayed on her knowing she's a single mother and needed/needs the money. She's not 100% innocent, but it's still a shit thing to do to someone you know is vulnerable. She's much younger than him and I can see how she might of been glamoured to a different lifestyle at first. She most likely does have feelings for him. I think she wants to believe she cares for him so that it's not just a sugar daddy/power dynamic situation. It can be hard to face and most likely why she behaves so defensive. Either way, she doesnt look happy and he comes off as a controlling man child. He's insecure and wants others to feel as low as he does inside. It's truly disgusting. I don't think he knows how to feel romantic love, at least at this point in his life. Hell, it doesn't even seem like he loves his daughter.

I really really hope she breaks free and gets some help, she is a beautiful woman and she is worth more than what she's settling for.

To those saying it must be money, I say you're very lucky to have never experienced being groomed at your most vulnerable and just how completely it consumes you. I'm now 35 and at the point where I can logically see the 52 year old who picked me out of a crowd at 21 just after my mother died, with no supports and no life experience, was not the love of my life but a narcissistic monster using me as a trophy after a divorce. But emotionally, this man fundamentally changed me permanently and I was so devastated when he traded me after two years for a 'respectable' partner still younger but nearer his age less than a week after we separated (and realistically, no, he had a backup ready) that I tried to kill myself, and spent the better part of a decade moving between mental health wards, absolutely convinced that I'd ruined things with my only soul mate and all I could do was wait to die. I still have nightmares about him; I had one last night. But now that I'm older and have a child of my own, I've finally begun to realise and actually feel that no. No, this man was not the be all and end all, he was a predator and decided to knowingly fundamentally alter a young woman, manipulate her whole paradigm and completely change the course of her development so she truly believed her purpose was to adore him... for no other reason than amusement, then chucked her aside like so much garbage the instant he was bored of that toy. And I'm *only just now* starting to undo the emotional hold, just slightly, and change that perception more than a decade later. And not for lack of trying, or lack of devastation. Thing is, I'm sure everyone thought it was him buying me expensive stuff. It was the opposite. I was the only one who worked out of us the entire two years. I never expected nor received anything of monetary value from him, and indeed, even though he was extremely quick to convince me to give up a long-standing, exceptionally exclusive and notoriously difficult to enter career that was really blooming to fly back across the country and live with him; once I was there, he herded me into his old field which was more common and more well paid, and I paid him 'rent' for a room in his house I never stayed in at a rate that was higher than my current rent for double the space/rooms, and this was fifteen years ago, in the same market. He made me feel like I was a disappointment and needed to 'carry my weight' to have integrity, a concept I already had strongly embedded in me, and perverted that desire into what I realise in retrospect was funding him to have a life of leisure whilst I worked full time in a career I came to think I 'always wanted', yet I remember absolutely desperately wanting to quit but feeling I absolutely couldn't without 'letting him down', so just straight up off the table. And then I came home and worked as his outlet for some of the most fucked up, pedo fantasies that I only realised were incredibly fucked far after he'd ditched me for his next entertainment. Yeah. He had such an absolute hold on me I was _paying him_ for two years to be his 'sugar baby'. That's the reality of the difference between being in the hold of a narcissist as a vulnerable and much younger woman, and being in a 'sugar baby' type situation. They are not in the slightest interchangeable, and the fact that people really struggle to believe it speaks to their inexperience with the true extremes another human being can, in the right circumstances, utterly own and control someone _who believes they're the lucky one and doing it willingly._ That's a really fucking scary concept to grapple with if you haven't been there and live life feeling like you're in control and would never let yourself be in that situation - easier to believe the victims must be aware and doing it for other reasons than the truth, which is that given the right (wrong) situation, they (or their loved ones/children) could have or might still one day look at someone like Big Ed as their reason to exist. And no, that's not hyperbole.

As a model point of view, it’s unsettling if a photographer keeps telling me that I’m beautiful on set, precisely because it does sound flirty ; what’d be professional is to encourage the model by saying impersonal things like « great attitude, I like your pose here, keep going ! » but a great photographer should avoid targeting his model’s appearance directly. And yeah, I can totally see Ed being a photographer largely because it allows him to hang out with women way out of his league, there’s so many men who use that as an excuse, that’s not reaching at all, it’s true ! Liz isn’t wrong about that part 🤷🏻‍♀️

She says she's happy when she's by herself, but she looks so uncomfortable when she's around Ed... Her smile disappears. And if you're afraid that any disagreement will potentially end the relationship, then you do NOT have a strong relationship. Whether it's a romantic or platonic relationship, having to walk on eggshells will eat you up inside until you explode and you end the relationship in a way that probably can't be salvaged. Not that this stopped Liz and Ed the last 8 times, though... You should never be scared to disagree in a relationship. You shouldn't be worried that if you speak up for yourself, the other person will leave you. Every disagreement shouldn't become full-blown arguing. I know I'm not saying anything that we don't already know, I'm just... baffled. Which I guess is why we're all watching, haha
