Can Thunderwolf Cavalry use vicious executioners (they have the Wolf Guard keyword!!) I mean, MW on 2+ from the charge, followed by thunder hammers hitting on 3+ rerolling hits and causing MWs on 6's AND THEN extra damage on teeth and claws could be MIGHTY! Ok, CP heavy, but a toughness 5 unit with Thunder hammers and Storm Shields could absolutely wreck anything!

Most of this stuff is for narrative play. On tournaments, you just spam flyers or centurions and cheese your way to victory, so do not think about tournaments when asessing the new rules.

Remember when companies used to release finished products? 15 years ago there was no need for FAQs and rules updates - companies got things (mostly, as best they could) right the first time. How many books/documents do I need to play an army on average nowadays... 7? Then they have the audacity to release a book that is obviously not even complete, in a box-set that isn't complete. I guess as long as people are dumb enough to actually pay for unfinished products and updates that should be free, companies will continue doing what gives them their income. Nowadays people boycott and protest about every mundane thing but how is this slipping under the radar?

@pel thoron Yes, back in those days there were the rule book, the codices, the occasional white dwarf for more obscure rules, and maybe one FAQ to patch up mistakes. That was it. Nowadays FAQs arent used to 'fix' the game, they are used to reword / update rules that are obviously not working as intended. In 8thE there is currently way too much damage being dished out by units and instead of nerfing weapons, they keep buffing other stuff to try and keep up. Gazkulls 4Wounds per phase rule is a perfect example of this. At its very core thats a terrible rule to implement into a game that shouldnt need it. Whats wrong with nerfing weapons and slowing the game down to how it used to be like 15 years ago? Turn 1 charges was a thing that only maybe two armies were even capable of! And turn 1 shooting was rarely game-deciding, even for the most shooty armies. I guess nobody cares about balance anymore.

Do you think you could do a comparison between large vs. Small squads in armies? It feels like a complicated subject that can vary from army to army and unit to unit, but some overall advice would be well appreciated

I think this will definitely affect lists, mostly characters. Will see more units outflanking since we cam afford the cp more and will protect our units until tactical / assault doctrines. Wolves still struggle to get into combat. Heros of the chapter means more sagas (3 with the vigilus detachment) and with counter charge i see more death stars. Touch of the wild means alot more characters, I have already turned my wulfen dread into Murderfang to run with bjorn. Definitely going to dust off my wolfguard. Sad to see no help getting into combat nor any strat to give a unit assault doctrine early so wolves will become a soup army :( Morkai’s teeth i think is an auto include just like the wulfen stone (for non wulfen spam armies). If us Jarls don't make some changes to our lists then we are doing something wrong lol

Mind you we do have the litany for +2 to charge now plus more survivability with transhuman to make us survive that much longer to get into melee if we fail the first time. We have a massive amount fo reroll charge anyway, I see wolf priests buffing 50% of your army that just came out of deep strike turn 2 for one super charge.

Do Incursor's paired combat blades stack with savage fury? So would a 6 in assault doctrine generate 2 extra hits as opposed to 1?

Isn't there a Warlord trait for Space Wolves that is +1 to wound against vehicles and Monsters? if so WyrmSplitter relic might make little cool combo.

There's definitely something good but I'm not impressed I was hoping for something more "incisive" The super doctrine is cool but I'm sceptic because getting it in the third round might me a little bit too late to have an impact on the game Relics are not mind blowing I was hoping in some spicy updates for old models (I know it's foolish) and maybe a little addition in the hunter unleashed ability even if it's strong as it is

I actually like it. It's not over the top. It's also loaded with stuff you can use that is not reliant on super doctrine....which is a crutch quite a few players have been leaning on too hard. And dont sleep on that old stalker pack Detachment now. A battle leader on thunderwolf who now get the chapter trait and can take that crazy ass axe that does d3 mortals on 6s, stack the warlord trait and the 4+ exploding hit strat....he will destroy anything....

@@nofuxgivens2797 I agree with not leaning to much on super doctrines, especially if they come in play turn three And also the old detachment relic is cool but here's my problem with gw: we are space wolves, we have badass frost axes which are exclusive to our chapter, why ignoring them and give us power axe relics so primaris can have them instead of letting primaris take frost weapons? Why the primaris range has to be so flat and common between all chapters? I know they're aiming at maximizing profit but c'mon

@@scandro373 well primaris wargear limitations is an issue all chapters suffer from. The biggest WTF I've found in SW Fluff nowadays is that they consider incursors, inceptors and reivers as blood claws

You can’t get more than one use out of any CP regen rule per battle round regardless of source And you can’t use two stratagems with the same effect but different names, they still count as the same strategem

You forget that Rune Priests are more durable than librarians due to being able to buy rune armour for 6pts to provide a 5++ naturaly (4++ on terminators)

It's just so underwhelming. I wasn't expecting to be massively overpowered, but it sucks for so much of our stuff to be a copy paste of the regular space marines. I may buy it eventually, but I'm not looking to get it any time soon. I was super excited for wolves to finally get their time in the psychic awakening, but started getting nervous when there were so few leaks. Sucks to find out there weren't leaks because there wasn't anything exciting to leak. I dunno. I'll probably just step away from 40k for a while and just play Kill Team for a while.

This takes Space Wolves from being unplayable in the current meta to just being a bottom tier army. TWC may be slightly better but still suck overall. Still rely on old models nothing to make Primaris fit in the army. Might see play in a soup list with Wulfen and Ragnar but that’s it. Will now need a wolf priest to boost charges for Wulfen but with litanies being cast at the beginning of the battle round that makes using the outflank strat problematic. Overall Space Wolves remain one of the weakest armies. If you are looking for cc for a soup list you are probably better off using BA in a marine list.

My roommate and I rolled out a fight between Ragnar and Magnus the Red. In a perfect world (with Ragnar charging in on turn 3) using Savage Fury + Gene-Wrought Might +Touch of the Wild+ Emperor's Executioners, Ragnar managed to one round him without needing Honour the Chapter. It was pretty gross. I'm expecting some FAQing to make all those not stack up.

Disappointing, nothing to help them get into combat or avoid overwatch, still lagging way behind the other chapters. Some things sound good at 1st but kinda need a perfect storm scenario to pull off.

What r u taking about nothing to help get into combat ...we have always had cunning of the wolf which is amazing and now wolf priest get the litneay that gives +2 to charge...makes it where wulfen will almost never fail....plus touch of the wild it beyond amazing use with bjorn or ragnar....and we get free cp back lol

@@Vonerik17 Yeah, but Im going to assume our Wolf Priest lose oath of war (it has the same effect as litany of rage but doesnt need a roll) which means you cant effectively outflank a wolf priests with your wulfen. It is a buff (just about anything would be). But most of it just makes us more like every other space marine chapter. Thats not why I build and play space wolves. Great Company sub-factions would have been so much better than combat doctrines and would have brought a nice parallel to the Thousand Sons cult subfactions. No new sagas, our superdoctrine doesnt synergize with Hunters Unleashed, and the only buff to mobility is the generic litanny every other SM army gets. This is overall an underwhelming update that helps us a bit on the tabletop, and hurts pretty much everywhere else.

@@Vonerik17 deepstriking sucks right now as you can't come in closer than 9in. So without Wulfen or other buff to charge it's very hard to successfully make that charge. The plus 2 to charge helps but not if we can't use it when deploying from deepstrike. As otherwise were going to have to rely on vehicles that stand a good shot of getting blown up turn 1 against most gun line armies. The CP refund is the legit only good thing that doesn't rely on everything else going right.

This feels like way too much power to hand out all at once. I get that space wolves were a bit behind their classic space marine brothers in terms of strength but this seems excessive. I thought GW might have learned after the very necessary SM nerf, but this book shows otherwise IMO.

I think they were more than "a bit behind". And all the melee buffs only matter if they make it into combat. So, we'll have to see how it turns out, but I don't think SW are getting OP now...

How so? We struggle to get into combat and doctrines don't benefit us until halfway through a game. This is far from making us op, white scars and blood angels are still better

They are still not a high tier faction, and are still one of the worser Space Marine factions, even with the update. Every single first founding Space Marine chapter has received this kind of update and more.

@@capus2000 40k stats. I think the only faction that is behind them is death guard and renegades & heretic. Even grey knights proformed better
