Not yet. Im all for giving CIG their flowers but we have a habit of jumping through hoops from what were shown instead of what were playing. If I didnt play SC id think that SC just dropped the most amazing patch in history based off the hundreds videos praising 3.23 as the second coming of Christ. Its cool to be hype but lets actually get it before we make declarations of whether CIG has "changed".

When I first got into SC back in 2020, it took me a long while to understand that the alpha state will not allow me to play it like a normal game. This thing is anything but a normal game. I think once you really understand that you're playing a literal tech demo, all you can do is play the latest current patch, enjoy (or hate) its current state, and move on to another game until next patch. I do love the game. It's maddening when it goes wrong, and truly amazing when it goes right. That's just the Star Citizen Experience right there.

@@vorpalrobot It's not a released game, but it's not a tech demo either...tech demos are static releases meant to showcase the beginnings of a project; the PU for Star Citizen is NOT a static release and is constantly changing...therefore it doesn't fit that definition. It depends in the universe you play in EPTU, PTU, PU. The ETPU is a tech demo while the others are for different stages of the testing phases. PTU is for initial public testing while PU (LIVE) is for widespread testing

SC is such a good dad gamer game. A lot if diwn time between things to take care of afk things, and freight elevators are gonna be great for that. Makes a lot of issues woth time in game manageable. I know a guy whod land his vulture on a pad, call in a cargo ship, then do all his transfers, store the cargo ship, then repeat. Im just imagining all the time saved and hiw much more gratifying itll be to use the elevator as a solo, let alone group play and setting up bunker runs

Wish I had Tree's confidence about the RL release. The tests are not going well, and we're well behind the schedule they seemed to think they could release on. It's feeling very PES-ish at this point, as we push towards Q2 with a Q4 feature still not here yet and clearly not close to ready.

I bet they use polymorphism and data abstraction for ui elements and objects like helmets, ship cockpit, Eva suit, etc. This way they can quickly implement new helmets, ships, etc with less more maintainable code. So they don’t have to do all objects at once and can add new ones fast and easy. This way they can release the new ui elements in stages across versions

For those that don't know Zane created the ship HUDs in flash. The current ships huds are these. The reason CIG hasn't already changed the HUDs is because they are in flash and it is extremely cumbersome to change or fix anything. Don't hate on Zane for using flash. Praise him for the HUD being as good as it is and being able to be used for as long as it has.

I’m at a spot in this game where I made a lot of money, bought all the expensive shit, and now have nothing to do. The part I like the most is earning enough money to buy the next thing I want, but I did all that already. QOL stuff in 3.23 is great and everything, but I feel like there’s a lack of game stuff to do right now. It’s been making me wonder what they can do in future updates to actually get me and players like me to continue playing consistently

I'm very interested in this in a post-launch enviroment. Ongoing development, new systems and features might not be reason enough for me to come back to the game if there aren't substantial rewards, progress or goals associated with them. A new expansion in WoW is right on edge of making me want to return to the game. And that brings with it basicly an economy, profession, gear and progression wipe. I still need to watch the 6 hour video on Eve to learn how that game has managed to keep an active playerbase this long because I have no idea how that game even works. I think this game will be very community driven and that's why I really hope we get many of the promised features to support that. Things like being able to ourselves stream zones from the PU into Arena Commander, customize them to make a race track or something. Or even fully build a location from ground up as they've said RaStar will someday have a version for the playerbase to use. I also think VR will be important as it gets more and more supported while the technology improves.

Things won't happen in one year, but the sum of all years. And CIG still has the habit of losing their deadlines. With SQ 42 pulling fewer resources we will see more PU content. This is my 11th year following Star Citizen. I'm tired of wishful thinking. I want results.

This is 100% theory crafting but I’m thinking a “someone recently in your party with bad reputation“ or “You have done business with someone of poor reputation” system would fix all that. If you know there’s a criminal in your area, and you know of people who do business with them, they’re socially labeled as a shady business too. Just because they aren’t doing anything illegal, they are doing business with someone who is. Edit: added more of an explanation

It's not cyberpunk, it's Cyberpunk 2077. Big fucking difference. There is only 1 Cyberpunk 2077 but there is a load of cyberpunk games, and movies, and books, and I'm sick of people constantly confusing them as if CP2077 is the first and the only and invented the wheel when it's actually comparatively meh.

Is it not true that Chris has made A SINGLE-PLAYER CINEMATIC STORY-GAME then APPLIED THAT GAMEPLAY to a Civilian multi-player Second Life in Space... which might seem like a good idea, "But it's not." It's really not how you design a product with a unified identity. Call me a wouldn't-let-it-lie'r but you'all might discover I'm right, as 2024-25 pans out.

They built up all that momentum with citizen con and then immediately killed it with January's drought. Guys, wake up! Most of the features in 3.23 come from SQ42, which took how many years to be feature complete? These features were presented in oct 2023, why is it taking them so long to port to PU? Most of us were thought to receive so little over this years that it's so funny to me when you hear people saying 3.23 is massive is so big omg.. just look a bit under the rug.. 3.23 should of been out a month or two after they said SQ42 is feature complete as these are mostly gameplay/ui changes

How on holy Terra do you think that features take no time to port over? These features have largely been developed over the last +2 years, after years of R&D, and somehow they just magically get copy pasted into SC? That's not how it works. It's gonna take over a year for SC to achieve complete parity with Squadron 42 and catch up in terms of development, if we're lucky.
@FuriousImp
@FuriousImp 3 ай бұрын
I'd like to add to my previous reply. It takes usually 1 year after being "feature complete" to release for any other game company. The difference being, of course, those companies usually take private investors and don't openly work on development and key technologies. This usually means that when games come out, you won't know how many years they have been working on it and might also mean it is a complete and utter mess (ie Fallout 76, No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk 2077). So tell me... mister expert. Why do you hold CIG to a higher standard than any other already established major studio with decades of experience?
