The long wing could be used as a heat sink to reduce IR output . As much as it doesn't change manoeuvrability like you would think , it does potentially serve a purpose. Both X-wing and Tie-Fighter have the same design. Wings used as heat sinks.

Blue and green light are both wavelengths that trick you into being more awake , thats why your phone can make it hard to fall asleep and is also why blue light filters exist.

Michael Bigheart its not that it tricks you into being awake, the light itsself just pierces further into you eyes keeping them at a higher stimulation. In the Navy we have red lighting on ships for nighttime due to how little red light travels compared to the others.

I love that the weapons fold in when weapon power is off. It means that you can show other players that you're friendly, and can be used for civilian airspace where they might demand your guns to be stowed.

Won't be swapping my Tali for this, but may keep an eye out for one in the verse. The other benefit of the Retaliator is versatility. Where as this is dedicated to doing bombing, the Tali can carry cargo, passengers, marines, turn into a floating space pad or a mix of any of the above with current modules. Even for one person it should be fairly useful for something. Guess it depends how much work there will be for a lone bomber really.

Green registers as the brightest wavelength of light to our eyes. For example a 500mW green laser will look much brighter than a 1500mW (1.5W) blue laser. :)

the size of the ship wing is due to the single wing design and diamond shape. which will repel radar signals. in other make the ship more stealthy

I really hope they give us some more freedom with loadouts for this thing. We know now that traditional gravity bombs are gonna be a thing in SC and I think it'd be really cool to fill that bay with a big load of them for ground attack, or maybe a whole crapton of normal-sized missiles. (Especially air-to-ground ones, if that's ever a thing.) Also, "flicky switches" serve a real purpose in aircraft and spacecraft, and that's allowing the pilot to operate them through muscle memory without having to look at them. It's also much easier to operate a real distinct switch when flying through turbulence or pulling Gs than it is to accurately tap a virtual button on a screen. Try using a smartphone while riding in a car that's on a bumpy road or is cornering and you'll quickly see why physical switches and knobs are still the way to go with aircraft.

Great tour of the spaceship. Obviously based on the B2 Spirit bomber. Not sure why they cut holes in the wings though? May be coolness factor, but as far as I know, you are perhaps saving weight by doing that, but you are wasting potential for fuel/weapons/equipment storage. You said you were slightly put off by "heat cracks" in the canopy glass. I think that's just to replicate what you often see in any aircraft with glass windows. Over time, these tend to have microscopic imperfections that sometimes reflect light differently. Very few aircraft that I know have so perfect windows that you forget that it's there. Either way, you didn't really come back to that gripe, but just said "you'll see what I mean later", and I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. However, you did actually make a very important discovery when ejecting. Star Citizen is obviously going to see most of it's ship-to-ship combat in outer space, where parachutes do diddly-squat. However, the ejection seat will literally kill you in atmosphere due to the fall afterwards. Don't know if RSI has commented on this yet, but it's safe to say it has to be addressed at some point. Either A: A chute is deployed if you are within an atmosphere. or B: Your suit sports some kind of one-off RCS retrograde burn mode that can decelerate you before landing (but depletes your RCS gas). Dunno, it's the future, maybe someone has better ideas, but ejecting you into death seems like an oversight to me :)

I suppose the designers are thinking about planetary strikes, probably against ground installations, where a bomber needs to carry a heavy ordinance load to a target, in atmosphere, descending down well clear of the base to avoid detection, before popping up and launching the cruise missiles. The over large wings are a big fuel saver with that load, instead of burning propellant. You're right Tactical, in space they wouldn't matter.

I get what they are trying to do with the stuff on the windshield, just grime, and use. But to be honest I would much rather prefer a bit of shading from the top down, it would just look a little nicer and it would break up the clear glass windshield. I would also like to see an option were you can just have the guns down and keep the bay doors closed.

the soviets painted some of their early jets' cockpits in a green-ish turquoise (just look up "MiG-31 cockpit") because they believed it reduced strain on the eyes for long flights. not sure if it actually works though.

Long and thin design is there to reduce your visibility to radar, its just basic stealth concept. Normally the bomber would be rather thick in comparison, with all the components installed regularly but i think here, they just spread out every single component along the wings, so ship still does all its supposed to do but with much smaller imprint.

They need to add weight to the ships when in atmospheric flight. Ships with no wings should have to use downward facing thrusters all the time. Landing and take off should be harder, with even more use of thrusters. Ship should be shaking and there should be more noise.

Gatlings might be a poor choice for the eclipse if they heat up a lot. It is not really meant to shoot down small targets in a dog fight. It might prefer distortion weapons to disable combatants who discover it so that it can get away

This ship ought not to exist, because it fills the role that had been reserved for the retaliator, and does everything much, much better. Same size torpedoes, pilot, controlled guns, better stealth, better speed and maneuverability, smaller target profile. You can fly and fight this ship with just one pilot, and not be defenseless. It's like a slap in the face to anyone who bought the retaliator.
