I'm a lifelong knitter learning how to crochet left-handed. I stumbled across these videos of planned pooling, and I just can't get enough. You pulled yarns that I haven't seen anyone use and really want to see them worked up. Thank you for the fantastic information. I just have to try this now

You're so welcome! I created this post years ago and suddenly the video is getting a lot of traction! I fell in love with it when I found it, and just wanted to document what I learned and share it with others. I found out that so many yarns cannot be pooled, but it was fun trying to find out which one can be!

The kaleidoscope yarn WILL work for color pooling using the granny stitch check out It’s Time for Yarn channel the part 3 checkered blanket in her color pooling series it is super cool she even has figured out a way to use the new granny square yarn to do color pooling

that’s interesting! I haven’t tried the granny stitch pooling yet. Another reason I love crochet, there’s always something to learn!

I think I'm obsessed now! lol. I'm making another pattern using Bernat Blanket Yarn - Woot! I'll post a video to that too once I finish. How are you?! I miss talking.

I just finished a planned pooling afghan using HL Soft & Sleek in the colorway Windswept Wishes. I did the granny cluster technique and it came out beautiful!

That’s awesome. I haven’t used the granny stitch for this yet, but I would love to do you have a pattern to follow.

I kind of combined techniques from Marly Bird and It's Time For Yarn video "Color Pooling Basics" as both have wonderful videos on color pooling. The granny stitch works best when your color sequences are a bit long. I also found a few tips from the fb group Planned Pooling with Crochet as in their tips file they talk about the stand alone DC on the end of every odd number rows. The stand alone DC helps move the color sequence one stitch over. That tip was a game changer. @@stardustgoldcrochet
