Hi Jenny, I love your step aerobic workouts! Your directions and routines are great! I took my step platform out of storage in my garage back in March 2020 to be intentional about NOT gaining the "Covid-19" during this time and I have lost 41 pounds from March to November 2020 doing many of your step classes 6 days a week! Hurray for me, and thanks to YOU!

Jenny...I just wanted you to know how much I enjoy your workouts. I was one of those people in the 90's going to step classes at the gym. Truly, i miss those days...but this is even better. Your fun routines are done from the comfort of my home and I still have my step. As a school teacher I always use the summer to get myself in better shape and prepare for the next year. Your workouts are making me feel awesome. I will be 53 in a week and I feel better than ever! Thanks so much! You are an A plus teacher. Lots of love...Laura

Love this new workout, Jenny! The moves are fun, a little different, but simple to follow - especially with your excellent direction. Love the "rock step" and the "hamstring sway" - tons of fun, and easy to ratchet up the level by just adjusting my own intensity. Especially important to me is that it's easy to do in my limited workout area; I really don't have room for routines like Unexpected Step (although I wish I did!!). Awesome - and another 3 pounds gone!!

what a great workout i had today! After you know the routine well, it gets super fun and as you say you can really work it...I appreciate and absolutely need the reminders to use my arms and to tighten my core with the knee lifts and such, I dont think im doing the hip flexor exercise properly I push my pelvis forward but dont really feel any type of stretch in the hip area. thanks again
@JennyFordFitness10 жыл бұрын
Hi terry schaffer , so pleased you are continuing to like this workout so much. I will continue with 'reminders'. Glad they help. So for the hip flexor stretch, standing with one leg in front, (full foot on the ground) other leg behind, (like a mini split) lift the back heel up, curl your pelvis under, tighten your glutes, neutral spine, but slightly pressing your hips forward. See if that helps. Thanks for the feedback. :)

I have to say that I LOVE your videos! Your are so easy to follow and weirdly it feels like you're in the room with me. I've 'graduated' up from the basic 3 move combos, and even though some people may find this pretty basic (to me it isn't lol), it's perfect for getting my heart rate up and burning calories. I can't wait to try some of the more challenging ones in the future. It is so true that you get out what you put in. I've been doing your classes - including the marching and 'ghastly' abdominal one (I say ghastly because I felt stuff in my stomach area that I haven't felt for years...and it wasn't that pleasant lol!) a couple of times a week for the past month or so, and combining that with just eating better I am down 15lbs. Slow and steady is my plan, and the good thing is that I see this as something I can do forever, not just until I hit the 'right' weight. You've shown me that exercise can be fun and rewarding, and that it's not a punishment for eating too many pies! Keep up the good work!

Hi Jenny, this workout was great--just the right pace and good progression of moves. I loved especially the lighter dancier music in the middle. I wonder if you have a beginner video that is at this same pace or a touch slower. I did one beginner one of yours last week thinking that because I was especially tired it would get me moving slowly, but it was very fast paced--a great workout for those who are beginning step as the moves were easy, but I felt that the pace was like a jog!

I always forget how much this one kicks my butt!! First combo.. Step over rock..good but nothing crazy, but then it's split steps then knee lunges then Charleston's, then knee pump repeaters and finally those 3 knee repeater swims.. Gets me every time! 2nd to last set of the Charleston's I didn't know if I was going to make it.. But gentle tap on the shoulder and a "keep it up" from the hubby and got through it all :)

Quick question...I have one of the type of Steps that you can add or take away risers to make it higher or lower. How much more calories are burned with using double risers as opposed to single risers? Or no risers? I like to vary the height of the step on different days for variety and was just wondering. Thanks in advance

Jenny, I enjoyed the ocean in the background in this workout. I have a question. I am using a 4-inch step, and I would like to know how many calories I burn with your workouts with a step this high.
@JennyFordFitness10 жыл бұрын
Sherri Boekweg GREAT question! I always hesitate to tell people how many calories they can burn, as it really depends on quite a few factors. The most accurate way to know of course is to use a Heart Rate monitor. BUT, having said that, for example, in an hour session of step, I would estimate, 400 calories and up, depending on how much energy you are able to put into the moves. Good luck, and let me know if you have any other questions.

You know what would be a good idea? Make a video just demonstrating some of your moves so we can be comfortable with them before doing the workout!

This was a good one. Were you doing this in the morning or evening? Do you use cue cards? How do you keep track of what to do next?
@JennyFordFitness9 жыл бұрын
+Amy Judd Thanks! We filmed this one early afternoon I believe. It was a colder day, absolutely perfect for sweating! I don't use cue cards. I put together the workouts and practice and practice, and memorize the moves. I would say it's something I discovered later in life as a talent. I believe anyone could do it however with enough practice. Hope that answers your questions. =) Are you thinking of teaching group fitness?
@amyj45019 жыл бұрын
+Jenny Ford Uh no. No teaching group fitness for me. :) That is impressive that you can memorize it.

(Claudia vetro') - 1 day ago hello Jenny is nice but not your best... for me your best step routine is unexpected step... wonderfull!!! bye bye Reply · (Jenny Ford) Thanks so much +Claudia vetro' (Mita M) - 1 day ago Jenny, I did this routine for the first time today, had watched it a couple of times to get familiar with the moves, absolutely loved it. Only during the warm up I felt like you were going faster than the music, the rest was fun and a great workout. Cuing is everything in step aerobics and you are excellent at it. You give us time to get used to the moves. To some the routine might be repetitive but for me it was perfect :) I was too focused on the routine, could not see your hubby and baby boy in the background :) Looking forward to the next one :) Reply · (Jenny Ford) - 1 day ago THanks +Mita M , I'll take a look at the warm-up. I suspect the music might possibly be a little out of synch. I'll check it out. As always so appreciate your feedback. It is so spot on! You are so right, cueing is everything in a good step workout. REally appreciate your support and for working out with me. =D Reply · (Blima Spetner) - 2 days ago Wow can't wait. I've had a few requests for a little more advanced step workout. I'm thinking of doing a Step by Step 4 sometime this year. I bet it would be what you're looking for. Thanks for your comments. =D Reply · (Laura Schmuck) - 4 days ago Rating 10!!!! First, Your cueing was excellent. Second, Your moves were simple but the combos made them more challenging. Third, You give us time to master the moves, and last, but not least, it was so much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are the best step aerobic teacher that I have worked out with and you made it doable for people who can't do all those fancy manuevers that others steppers do. Love ya Jenny! Keep them coming! Hi Jenny, is it true that step aerobics bulk up thighs and glutes? Step routines have become my staple although I mix it up with other routines as well. But I have always had heavy thighs and this worries me a bit.
@JennyFordFitness10 жыл бұрын
Mita M- I have never heard research about Step bulking up thighs and glutes. In fact, it is more known for helping to tone and slim the legs and glutes. I am pleased to hear you mix up your routines, and remember you saying you enjoy strength training too. =D As long as you are balanced in your workouts.... not too much of one thing, and then of course a mindful eating regimen. (For me, I do at least 2-3 full body weight sessions per week, never back to back--and cardio at least 3 times per week, with one stretch/relax/yoga day. ) Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. Nice to hear from you Mita!
