This is absolutely true. I used CalCMag for +/- 6 years. I am 67 and in good health. All of a sudden I got some nasty pains in my lower back. I had it for about 6 months and being health conscious tried to do some research by myself. I started with the CalCMag and discovered that my kidney tubes were block due to the calcium making a lining in my tubes. I immediately stopped it and after 3 days the pain went away. I had to clean the kidney tubes with beer to wash away the build-up that caused a very uncomfortable urination. Since then I have been healed. My nephew drinks calcium for years and was always complaining about his prostate. He is 54. I warned him against calcium, but he would not listen. Then one day he said that he has heartburn, which he never gets. It turned out to be a heart attack in the making. 3 days later he got the attack. He had to undergo surgery for 4 stents in his heart. He bought CalCMag again after the op. I fought with him every day and finally said to him that I am tired of fighting and asked him to watch your video. He finally believed me and said that it makes perfect sense what you say, after I forced him to watch and listen to your video. Thanks Dr Berry, it was very interesting

My mom never drank milk nor took calcium supplements. She did eat a cup of cottage cheese regularly and ice cream occasionally throughout her life tho. She was also practically completely bedridden for decades. She fell twice in her 90s. The dr couldn’t believe she didn’t break anything. She lived until 97.

Perfect video. My mother was like you, a milk baby. She drank milk, age yogurt and cheese daily. She also took a calcium supplement daily, per her doctor's recommendation. Post menopause, she was diagnosed with osteopenia. A few years later she was prescribed Fosamax, only to fall and brake a hip. Do NOT drink milk, take calcium supplements or take bone-enhancing drugs.

True about calcium supplements but NOT true about milk. They are COMPLETELY different. Milk is in part what makes babies bones grow (and sleep too). When was the last time you saw a baby drinking plants ? Calcium that comes from milk is in natural form so it's not bad for you. Calcium supplements on the other hand are not natural. They are synthetic and they cause kidney stones because they usually are manufactured from limestone rock and form carbonate whereas there is no rock in milk

In our perio surgery office..we witnessed women who could not be candidates for implants because they were experiencing necrosis of the jaw bone due to their long term use of Fosamax. And I was horrified when I very reputable spine surgeon suggested I may need to take Fosamax and did not wish to concurr what I mentioned about the necrosis...I am so grateful for doctors like Dr Berry ..who are really concerned about and value the health and well being of patients. My son went through med school..took nutrition..always told me to try to get nutrients from good foods

Just make sure it's not commercial milk which would be the store brand. It's not milk that's bad for anyone - it's the poison the jackass farmers inject the cows with to increase their profit. If you drink milk make sure it's organic. My grandmother drank milk her entire life and NEVER had a single fracture and lived to be 95 years old. What more proof does anyone need that milk is not bad.

I'm 77, a month ago fell hard, full body weight, onto my left knee on concrete, caught myself with hands, knee hurt like a son of a gun!. Nothing broke, a bit of swelling, a slight bruise showed in 2 days, no pain in activity at all, no compromise of function, but I did stop jogging just in an abundance of caution. Only some lingering tenderness on the point of impact for maybe 3 weeks. I did a bit of ice packs, did compression wraps a few hours a day. So I have been on a very low carb to carnivore diet for many years, almost no milk, just HWC in coffee, always vit D, never calcium supplements. I've been a jogger, hiker, walker for 50 years, plus lots of heavy outdoor work and horses...still going strong. I'm only a single case, but I do prove his points.

Dr Berry, Thank you for spreading the word! I wish I’d found your channel sooner. Perhaps it could have extended my 88-yo Mom’s life. She drank milk daily and took daily calcium supplements for severe osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. Earlier this year, she fell, broke her hip and, post surgery, was gone within 24 hours. Scans revealed severe coronary artery calcification and a evidence of a heart attack before after the fall (or during surgery). She was slender, non-smoker, non-drinker who avoided exercise and loved her (“diet”) cookies and ice cream. She was of the generation that bought the hype that (nutritionless) low cal, low fat, high-carb processed diet food was “healthy.” She suffered from numerous systemic diseases, including acid reflux, hiatal hernia, hypothyroid, diverticulitis, depression, IBS, retinopathy and spinal stenosis. She spent the last 2 years of her life in a wheelchair, visiting doctors. Yet she had 5 MD specialists (cardiologist, pulmonologist, internist, gastroenterologist, ophthalmologist and pain management team) who failed to collectively put 2 + 2 together and diagnose her with insulin resistance and systemic inflammation. My living tribute to her is to take your advice, educate myself and others and avoid her mistakes. She was an artist whose mind was sharp until her final day. Following your plan, she might have lived to 100, as she was SO (blindly) conscientious about her health, and did everything her doctors recommended. I will certainly share your channel with others.

Was so conscientious about diet. Believed them all. Was lied to all her life. With macular degeneration she was virtually blind for her last 5 years. Ate margarine, no eggs, vegetable oils............ keto would have prevented. It breaks my heart, as it does yours. You are quite right! Our duty is to do our best for our health as a tribute to our mothers.

my mum is 96 and drinks milk in her tea, takes calcium daily....my Granny lived to be 101, same thing...my great aunt drank milk daily because she liked the taste, lived to be 103. Milk/calcium is not the problem. It is ALL contributing factors plus genetics. This "Dr." does not know any more about anything than any other doctor- and they all argue about everything.

@@daleskac4483 Yes you need calcium but not nearly in the amounts recommended. The only time in your life when you should need to take milk for it's calcium is when you're growing, and to stop it before puberty hits. You need barely any calcium from your diet as an adult, you've got tons of it in storage that your body can just pull from in case there's an increased demand and during stages where calcium is available in the diet, it'll be stored.

Omg, I knew it. My Dr told me to take it every day years ago but I heard how it caused heart attacks so I stopped taking. But my mother took it faithfully along with the medication foe her bones. She was always worried about her bones. She died of ovarian cancer. The Drs were so surprised she got it at 79. I have been tested genetically because I had stage 1 uterine cancer and the genetics test came back negative. But what you said now makes so much sense. THANK YOU. Our entire family has been switching over to Keto. My son was over weight, had kidney stones, guess what he was always eating milk products. It was his wake up call. This makes sense. So, I will continue with my vitamin D3 supplement, but discontinue the calcium citrate. I'm 75, and have been taking the calcium citrate for about two years after being diagnosed with osteopenia. They wanted me to take alendronate, but I found out that it can be harmful. Anyway, a friend of mine gave me some kettle bells and dumbbells, so will increase exercising with those. I also play tennis as often as possible. At least two or three times a week. Every day if it's not raining. I don't use milk at all, and have never had kidney stones. I'm glad I found this out about calcium. Thanks for your video(s). By the way, since learning about this, I've found other doctors who agree that the calcium supplements should be stopped. Thumbs up and subscribed.

@Lisa I would never recommend taking calcium supplements even when taking k2. I'm not sure if there is any proof that k2 will remove calcium from soft tissues like arteries as many people claim. Best thing you can do for bones (in my opinion) is taking optimal levels of vitamin d3 with a quality magnesium supplement like glycinate or citrate and vitamin k2 of the mk7 kind as it stays in the system longer.

I was diagnosis with osteoporosis and my doctor said vit D only forget the calcium. I also started on collagen protein powder from the bovine [taken from beef hide]. Collagen is an important staple since body doesn't produce much with age. Much safer than taking a pill like fosamax or inj of prolia. Too many side effects from these drugs.

May be you do not take the right kind of calcium. I take 300mg calcium citrate a day, d3, k2, magnesium, boron and multi. I feel good. I think that diet can provide us with calcium, but we do not eat consistently. So, calcium supplement help.

I just found this video and about had a heart attack. I’ve been taking calcium supplements for about 5 years. I switched to calcium when I took myself off of fosamax. I was on fosamax for 12 years because I was told that I had osteopenia. Wake up call was when I was just walking into my kitchen my femur snapped in two and I landed on the floor. I now have a rod in my femur to hold it together because the break has not fused 100%. Only about 60%of the bone fused. Took me 10 years and 6 orthopedic doctors before one would listen to me about feeling pain around the fracture. It’s in your head they said. Finally found one who took X-rays, MRI, CTs and really Looked at them. He looked at me and said you have a Bisphosphonate fracture. I literally cried because someone validated what I had known for years. The year before I had a small fall and shattered my wrist. No more calcium for me. Thank so much for these wonderful videos. It’s disappointing that there was no mentioning of peri- and post-menopause and their effects on bone health in this video. Women need to know that estrogen loss causes major bone loss. This is established scientific fact. Yet most women are not aware until they sustain a fracture. This doctor missed an opportunity to reach women here and put it on their radar for further exploration, if nothing else. Menopause and its consequences for a woman’s long-terms health is still a very neglected topic.

When you try to get estrogen from a gyn they told me no It can cause cancer because I had A huge lump in my breast and they refused to take it out Said high blood pressure and cancer no estrogen But my hair falling out and nails brittle and teeth and jaw bone deteriorating No density scan because no broken bones So six years later now have cancer take lump out and said want to zero out my estrogen Because of cancer The pills are horrible side affects bones joints swell ache and sores on my lower back and blood dripping out of me 7 months No tests for what is wrong and no exam refused So I quit taking Feel better now Stopped calcium supplements and high blood pressure gone and take some good food and drink protein whey powder and some natural herbs Thus far no cancer I know of and no blood dripping no weird sores and no pain and swelling and no bacterial infections of my bladder when you need estrogen they say no And then when you need better different medications they refuse that too Side affect of pills uterine cancer But no tests exams so just keep taking so cancer will not come back is the manure you get So good to tell someone the truths about these awful pills to stop estrogen Deteriorating your whole body and causing infections

The problem with current Calcium supplements is that the biodisponibility is very low. Less than 30% of the calcium you take, goes into your bloodstream. The rest, that's 70% goes to your linphatic system, your kidneys. As soon as a new technology for calcium biodisponibility is available, I agree with this video. But I've heard that a new calcium supplement is on its way. ..

I just got through listen to other doctors say calcium WITH D3 is good for you, the truth is vitamins are found in kale and many greens also calcium is in all the greens . I love these doc's with there know it all video's... people do your research and do what makes you feel best.

My PCP said I needed to add a calcium supplement due to my age. I already had chronic kidney stones it caused more stones and I got severe bone pain in my hips and lower back. Severe enough I could barely move. I stopped taking the calcium and it cleared up in about 3 days

Wow! Thank you for clarifying this information Dr Berry. I just talked to my primary doctor and she recommended me to take calcium supplement. This is straight forward explanation and I am not taking the calcium. My mother she is taking calcium and I will talk to her about this information as well. Thank you this educational video. I couldn’t lose weight, so I started following intermittent fasting (by way of Dr Jason Fung) but my pudgy endocrinologist doesn’t accept the studies showing it’s safe & helpfull. I lost 47 lbs‼️. I’ve been able to get off several medications & I’m not hungry. The video that plays after yours says we’re dying from too much fat. He also believes a calorie is a calorie. He also advises a low fat, low calorie diet. He says women need less than men & short people need less. So according to him, I will lose a pound a week on a 1400 calorie diet or less. Did you know that? How does he explain my weight loss? With intermittent fasting, I can eat whatever I want (fat & calorie wise) and I’m still losing albeit more slowly. Also, I’m NOT hungry!

I have been taking calcium for about 10 years. July 2021 I had a coronary artery calcium score test and my number was 225 in my aortic. I still took a calcium for a year after that beause a heart doctor told me to just eat low fat foods and do cardio. I have learned so much in the last few months it's mind boggling. My husband also took the calcium score test. He eats mostly whole 30 foods. His score was 18.

Take 180 mcg of Vitamin K2 every second day. Stay away from Calcium supplements and too much dairy. Vitamin K2 has been shown to not only decrease calcification of the arteries, but to also reverse it !

I wish I would have known this years ago. I don't drink milk anymore but I have been taking calcium supplements for years. I've had heart issues since I was 50 ( 3 stents and last year quad bypass) I am 64 now. I have never been informed about calcium not being good for my heart and I've seen many cardiologists and done cardiac rehab 3 separate times. So much for the bone density tests they do on you for a physical. I did weight training and cardio for most of my life. It's just in the last few years because of health issues that I stopped weight training. Guess I'll be getting back into the gym for weight lifting. I do take vitamin D daily as I'm aware of the need for that. Thank you for sharing such good info Dr Berry. I think I'll be watching your videos more now. I'm going to pose the calcium question the next time I have to see my family Dr or cardiologist. I'm sure they won't be thrilled with me questioning their treatment !!

I discovered this by experience - I was told I had osteoporosis, took the perscription meds and extra calcium for several years, but at each yearly bone scan my bones had not increased density!!! All the calcium supplements ever did for me was give me constipation which led to nasty painful problems in my nether regions! No more for a good while now, and no breaks either. I discovered the whole osteoporosis thing is an industry.

In my experience , I was told to take a calcium supplement and I felt really poor! I quit. I get enough through food since I eat natural and my bones are health as can be more so than most especially at my 50 plus age. And YES! I have done weight bearing exercise my entire life having been living on a working farm and I can still physically out work most twenty somethings!

@@heros0264 yes, Vitamin K2 is best taken separately in the evening because it helps you sleep and it's best absorbed by the body while we sleep, like magnesium. Vitamin D3 should always be in the morning, taken with fat. If you take D3 at night, you cannot sleep deeply.

You're welcome! Most people who take Vitamin D3 (as supplement) take the D3+K2 supplement combo because it's convenient for them not to forget the K2 component. However, it's always best to Google and read medical journals about the 'optimal time to take minerals/vitamins' (if taken as a supplement instead of via sun or food). I first learned about the importance of knowing when to take certain vitamins or minerals from a Finnish doctor who practices both traditional medicine and homeopathy. :) Always happy to share knowledge that has tremendously helped fix my sleep hygiene.

Doctors don't advice calcium anymore , bit sad , as if you have osteopenia etc, calcium is a good idea but only combined with K2 and D3, those take care the calcium ends up in the right place, your bones and not your arteries. Its annoying their conclusion is that calcium supplements are bad while if you take it with k2 and d3 its a great idea

Thank you for this!!! I was an avid milk drinker up until 1.5 years ago. I stopped it cold turkey and feel so much better! My question is, what age do you recommend for children to stop milk? I have a Day Care and we are required by the state to serve milk twice a day. If they are over 18 month we are required to serve 1% milk. I can honestly say 90% of the kids have chronic constipation. I am positive it’s from the milk they drink (along with the pop tarts and bagged muffins they bring in everyday) One of my son in laws was raised on a dairy and he totally believes in drinking milk. Just the thought of drinking milk now turns my stomach.

Forget milk, that's only a minor issue compared to the tens of things you and the vast majority of people are doing wrong. Like farming, eating "vegetable" oils, eating refined sugars, drinking coffee, eating excessive carbohydrates etc. Not to mention the literal poison known as soda. None of those are natural and none of those are good for health. None of them were there 20,000 years ago. Look at the big picture.

If you take D3 and K2 with it as well as magnesium you will be okay. I have to take it because I have a nutritional deficiency due to my gluten allergy. I also take blood pressure medication that removes all my minerals out. So I can't stop taking it. I'm actually low in calcium because I don't drink milk often either.

ONE QUESTION: Do you have any patients who have undergone roux-en-y surgery for weight loss? I am 29 years post op and MUST take a boatload of supplements because the surgery creates malabsorption issues as part of the weight loss/control mechanism. I was prescribed 1500mg of calcium citrate daily as part of my supplement regimine. I hope others in my situation think hard before stopping their calcium supplements without speaking with their own doctors. It is a real shame that medical doctors don't get enough education in nutrition and staying healthy. I am no expert but have created some puzzled looks and silent responses when I ask most of my doctor's about food/nutritional issues. Kudos to you for taking an interest and doing your research. And yes, kidney stones ARE more painful than anything medical I have experienced, and I am a 68 year old "chubby chick with bad bones" (4total joint replacements this far) and numerous surgeries. Thank you for your time. I hope you actually respond to this.

I am not a doctor nor a nutritionist but I would never ever ditch the magnesium! I absolutely love magnesium!! I am 63 years old, and have drank a ton of milk all my life. Just had a bone-density test and I was scored a 98% density. No porous or brittle bones at all. Never had a bone fracture in my life. But I've cut back on milk recently because of mild kidney issues. Magnesium, on the other hand, is one of the best minerals on planet earth!!!😉

Most Americans are deficient in magnesium. We need magnesium, calcium, D3 and K2 taken together. The K2 de calcifies soft tissue and directs calcium away from soft tissue and towards bones and teeth. D3 also helps with this process. Do NOT take calcium without the supplements I listed above according to many knowledgable doctors.

I’d really like to believe this guy - but it’s kinda hard to trust someone (online) who mentions studies, but doesn’t cite any specific studies - and takes a “just trust me“ approach to giving medical advice to the masses. (Ie: Who are “they“ who did these “BIG studies“ @ 3:02 in Video ??? - Which Studies??? ) Also we are depleting our soil’s of Calcium at a rate of about approximately 1% a year… I would be curious to hear his advice for how we could correct for this loss of calcium in our diet - now and more so in the future… or perhaps re-mineralizing our soil with Calcium (and other essential minerals) will be the ultimate solution??? Dr. Berry, Thanks for the info, but please cite your sources of studies below your video (or at least one or two studies)... So that your viewers don’t have to solely rely on YOUR “Expert Opinion” alone. Thank you. Interesting thought experiments though! :-)

I am older and take calcium because my doctor told me to. I have osteoporosis, and am being treated for it. This is part of the treatment... according to the doc/NP. I do take D3, and K2, all in the same pill. Magnesium would also be recommended, but it gives me digestive problems. Love these informative videos. Do you have updates?

I fully believe that if I had been given a calcium supplement as a child, instead of just a child multi-vitamin, I would not have had a mouth full of cavities. My mother did not let me eat candy or drink soda, but I still had cavities. After my first pregnancy, 28 years ago, I had to have nine fillings re-done. With my second pregnancy, I took a calcium supplement (which had magnesium and D) and only had two fillings which needed to be re-done. In both cases I took a pregnancy multi-vitamin.

That's interesting. Isn't it? I suspect it depends on how much calcium a person needs. I seem to recall that rickets in children is cured by calcium, or caused by not enough. Too much is harmful but so is not enough.

My husband has had kidney stones three times since he turned 40 nine years ago. He's also had an MI and has A-fib. He was in the hospital just a week and a half ago and they were literally discussing the possibility of bypass surgery in his near future. Not once during any of these incidents did they mention Calcium. I now feel terrible that I've had him on a 500 mg Calcium supplement for months. I hope that was not the reason he wound up in the hospital this last time. Of course, even if it is part of it, I know it's not the only reason. His Cardiologist always pushes Vegetarian eating and especially low-fat. He tried that for a few months but it did nothing but make him gain lots of weight, so he gave up trying to eat healthily. After that, he became a serious sugar/starch addict, to the point of consuming more than 200g of carbs a day sometimes (most of it being processed sugars). Our PCP told him a few months ago that he is now pre-diabetic, but it did nothing to change his habits. Luckily, three weeks ago I started on Keto and he's been witness to the results. After this last stint in the hospital, he has decided to try it with me, even against his Cardiologist's advice (that doctor REALLY hates Keto...). In just over a week he's already lost 10 lbs despite not being as strict with it as I have been. After he tested for ketones today and saw he had none after his carb-fest the other day, he has promised to become more dedicated to it, though, so I suspect his results will come even faster soon. I wish I could have results like his, but he's 70lbs heavier than me, only drank sodas before going into the hospital, and does not have to inject insulin like I do, so it makes sense he would lose faster than me, especially at the beginning. I'm just happy he's trying. I never thought I would be able to get him to give up sodas, but I suppose talk of cracking his chest open was enough to scare some sense into him.

The healthiest way of eating is moderate protein, lower carbohydrate, higher healthy fats, which puts us into ketosis, or a fat burning state. For clairification: This means that it burns off the fat on our bodies (same as weight loss)d, it's not referring to burning the fat we are eating. Think Dr. Berry promotes KETO (or ketosis way of eating). Low fat was another one of those medical schemes that was started back in - I think it was likely started in the 60's. However, there has been a huge amount of new research that shows that higher healthy fats do a world of good for all kinds of health issues, including diabetes. One of the best sources from an expert is Dr. Jason Fung, who has his own KZbin channel....look him up. He is an internist who specializes in kidney disease and could not understand why his kidney and diabetes patients never got well, in spite of all medial treatment. He figured out that the problem was the way these people were eating. Read his stories on KZbin because you will be blown away by his work. Believe his work is the basis for the KETO movement today. The pharmaceutical companies really do not like KETO because it heals people's diabetes and that means they don't need to buy all the RX drugs for diabetes. Another phase people often go to is called Intermittent Fasting. Depending upon how you do your fasting, it can cure a lot of illnesses through a phase called "autophagy". Autophagy activates our growth hormone and people start looking a lot younger. I did. Read up on that.

Dr. Berry, I use to take a calcium supplement, but for some reason just quit, and after watching your video, I'm glad I did. However, I was a huge milk drinker and would drink a least a half a gallon a day. I was told when I was young, that when I went through menopause, my symptoms would be hardly nothing, and I had no hot flashes or anything that goes with menopause. I just quit having a menstrual cycle and that's it. Since menopause however, I don't want milk or desire it. A gallon now lasts me about 2 weeks or I try and drink it before the expiration. I do love a glass of very cold milk from time to time. I know there is something that they add in milk, that calms you down. I have very bad nervous and when there really bad, I drink some milk and it calms me down. I do take mediccation for it as well. If you could give me some feed back on this, I'd appreciate it. A medical doctor's "strength" lies in their ability to write prescriptions for medications. Why would any of us go to a main stream doctor - this excludes Dr. Berry, of course - for help with this bone strength problem? We need real solutions not RX prescriptions. Dr. Berry is offering these suggestions because they work. Many other functional/integrative medicine doctors (these are M.D.', too, just more enlightened, results-oriented M.D.'s) also recommend this same method as Dr. Berry...but those who only offer prescription medication solutions aren't advocates of functional medicine.

Great advice! I joined a local gym and starting lifting weights and bought some bone broth and collagen. Good to know about the calcium supplement dangers.

This showed up with perfect timing, I mostly cycle which isn't great for bone strength and was thinking I should start taking calcium. I just need to run more, keep taking vitamin D, and walk. Thanks!

D3 and k2 help put calcium to the bone , not leaving calcium in heart arteries and kidneys. Take a good kind of calcium supplement, about 300 mg a day, plus eat lot of prunes and green leafy vegetables.

The challenge I’m facing here in India is 💯 % of the k2 supplements are a part of calcium tablets and not stand alone. Not sure what to do 🥹🥹

DR. Berry. I am 69 years old and have had only 3 GP's in my life and admittedly am one of those men who has to be nearly on his death bed to go see one. I have had regular check ups and blood panels done for the past 13 years. I have read youe book on Lies doctors told us. It is so frustrating to have to see a nre one as I am now and have to listen to the same old crap I heard before about fat, eggs, calcium and practicaly have to stop seeing them or choose to navigate their fragile egos because I choose to challenge / engage what they tel me to do in spite of the incredible results I have achieved listening to you andf maybe one or two other ctedible like thining sources on you tube. I wish there was a way to get them on board without them thinking I am being uncooperative or stubborn when the test results and my health say otherwise.

Really good advice. Just bought a bottle of Citrical from Walmart and I'm going to stop using them. Plenty of organic lettuce everyday could help also. Of course I can't find organic lettuce at Walmart or typical grocery stores but they can be found at Sprouts or Whole Foods. I'm going organic raw vegan so lettuce has to be part of it for sure.

My Walmart store carries organic romaine, strangely I find it to be the freshest and most flavorful from all others, mind you I am not a fan of Walmart, bu enjoy their organic produce.

My mom's best friend was told by her doctor to take calcium supplements and drink cow milk for bone health. I knew it was a bad idea, but she trusted her doctor and was going to follow "doctor's orders." She developed kidney stones after she had been taking the calcium and drinking milk for about six months...but she is still taking the supplements because her doctor told her not to stop. I feel so bad for her. She needs a better doctor!

Sad.....unfortunately they're dumb doctors overseeing our health. The best test to check for calcium is a coronary calcium scan some doctors don't offer it but you can research other companies.

The milk correlation does not eliminate that they may be on westernized diet as well. Raw milk has been consumed for ages around the world.

Vitamin K2 is a vitamin that is crucial for proper use of calcium in the body. Most people are deficient. It is probably the reason for the French paradox, because the French diet is higher in vitamin K2. MK7 is a type of K2. Another type is MK 4.
