Just subscribed. Have looked at several videos today. My bio: 64y/o male. 15 year history of hip, thigh, leg pain. Extremely tight all over. Rounded thoracic back. Hip flexion dominant with poor upright posture. I am in anterior pelvic tilt. Poor core strength. Limited leg abduction angle. Feels like there is limited proprioception in my feet and walking is like always going to be the next trip. Your videos are well presented. My goal is to be able to do the Asian squat. My generation is in great need of increased strength and flexibility. Hope to keep you posted on my progress!

You can get a really good stretch when you squeeze your abs as hard as possible. Doing this with the hurdler's stretch technique helps when you want to include the abs. You could even do crunches while you are stretching to help your back stay flat before you go to bed.

Can you think of any reason why I simply cannot bend my leg back from the knee without getting awful cramping in the thigh...to the point that I basically cannot do it? I have tried to discover why this is or how to "fix" it but cannot get a good answer. If you have any idea, please please let me know
@HeartlessKnave Жыл бұрын
I've seen a few of your videos and finally decided to sub and make a stretching playlist outside of my regular "exercise" playlist. I have some knowledge of stretching and a few books dedicated to it, however your content is much more comprehensive by going into small details about what not to do and why, how to do it "exactly right", and harder variations. I'll keep watching as well as reading and adding books to my library for a physical reference, but I'm wondering if there's ones you'd recommend for athletes and/or Martial Artists? I have "Ultimate Flexibility" by Sang H. Kim and it's only so-so. Also if there's classes/lessons/activities you'd recommend for enhancing mobility and flexibility, as I find I'm not motivated at home and I don't make enough time for it on my own, or get bored and do other things instead. I don't really like taking Yoga classes because I find they usually don't do adequate warm ups before static stretching, or I end up being cooled down from my own warm up before the classes start. There isn't really Tai Chi in my area that is accessible for me. And I've never tried pilates but might go for that.

Super video. In the hurdler's stretch, what is the benefit of turning the bent leg out to the side compared to keeping it parallel to the straight leg as I have usually practised it?
@Livinleggings2 жыл бұрын
Not a huge deal of difference to the demands on the quads or hip flexors themselves, but allows for the pelvis to more easily posteriorly tilt which is where it wants to be for an optimal hip flexor stretch!
@vintdg72502 жыл бұрын
@@Livinleggings Thanks Liv. Maybe not a huge issue for me as posterior tilt usually comes easily to me - it's anterior tilt that I struggle with. I'll try both ways and see if I can tell the difference.

Hello there! I have patellar chondromalacia in both knees (more in the right one). My orthopedist recommended me to strength the quads. Are these exercises healthy for my knees? What do you recommend?
@raezen2 жыл бұрын
as someone who's mindful of my knees, i know the hurdle stretch isn't great for them, and i would definitely use more cushion under my knee in that lunge stretch. I don't know about your specific issues and disclaimer: i'm not a doctor. :)

I have watched several of your videos but practically everything you do bends the osteoarthritic knee with a nodule grown out the back of it in a way that is impossible. I can't do a standing quadricep stretch either, but, also can't do lying on my tummy. I do a quadricep stretch lying on my side.
