My boss is a red, I'm a green, my colleagues are yellow and blue. Altogether, we have a slight touch of other colours. Now, I understand why the Yellow talks unending. Therefore, no need for me to get upset anymore and I now understand why the blue 💙 is a perfectionist. Undemanding these make me a better version of myself. Thanks to @Thomas Erikson for the book. Great job 👏 👍 👌

blue/yellow - I hate boredom and analyze the F out of a certain task to be as efficient as possible, so then I don't have to work as much and focus on fun stuff during the working hours. Using blue skills to feed into my yellow needs. And yes, I don't stay for long in a company, every 3'ish years I start working someplace entirely different. New shit to learn and master.

I took some lengthy DISC exam and I thought- naturally if I just answer honestly I’ll get a more accurate gauge on what temperament I am, I got Red more points above all else then yellow then blue in that order. And now having read the book, I definitely see how accurate it is

Aye I appreciated the summary and the explanation between the four colours was great, but the most important part wasn’t included: what do you do and how do you adapt to communicate effectively with the different personality types
@wizbuskout
@wizbuskout Жыл бұрын
If you're interacting with RED, know that they are hot-headed. Don't try to win too much with logic. Keep things simple with them. Don't explain too much. If you're interacting with YELLOW, have some patience, and allow them to talk. But also keep some check on your time. These type of people don't stop blabbering about useless stuff. If you're interacting with GREEN, don't expect too much from them. They will always play safe. So if something is risky, better avoid them. If you're interacting with BLUE, you already know they are intelligent and observant. Don't try to act too smart in front of them. Listen effectively and only speak after thinking. Focus more on the details and logic here, unlike RED. Hope it helps. However, every person is different, so you have to adapt in real-time and learn with experience. The book oversimplifies people's personality (Good for beginners). In reality, humans are more twisted than we think.

You're right, though. The only practical idea from this book is that instead of thinking that everybody is an idiot, try to understand people. Honestly speaking, I didn't find the idea of dividing personality into just 4 types very practical. If you have any good books in mind on this topic, don't hesitate to let me know, I'll try my best to make a summary of it.

Great summary! came here to brush up my knowledge on this framework, it seems the "colours" are just Erikson's way of describing the 4 temperaments. After reading the book I have deducted I am predominantly red but with blue aspects when it comes to being analytical and getting into the finite details. Although in my younger years I was very quiet & analytical, a mix of green & blue, as my confidence in my skills have increased & I now know what I want out of life I am about 70% red 30% blue... Although I would like to work on being more yellow...
@wizbuskout
@wizbuskout Жыл бұрын
You are absolutely correct. Those colors don't tell the full story. But they do help in seeing different temperaments. Many people get this wrong and misunderstand the whole point. I'm glad you enjoyed the summary. Personally, my different colors activate in different situations :)

I am fairly certain I am about 80% Blue, 10-15% Red, and the rest mainly yellow. As a very rough estimate, mind you. I haven't had a chance to do the exact math just yet. (And it is also a bit tricky to be exact when it comes to psychological qualities. Especially as they often are a bit fluid, based on where you are in life.) That said. Good summary. It lacks a bit advice on how to deal with each personality-type compared to the books, and lacks a bit more depth on their flaws, but I understand that there is limits to what one can put in a summary. They are meant to be short after all. And my client has a very red-dominated personality, so reading full books is not something she is willing to do/have time to do.) So as a summary this is a very good video.

Oh, when it's said that they make up the majority, I meant that most people avoid risks and play safe. You are right, loyalty is rare these days. Sorry for the confusion. Lots of observations which ring true in this book. Not very helpful however if you recognise that everyone you know does not fall into such neat stereotypes. Totally agree it isn't very nice to call others idiots just because we have difficulty communicating with them. Idiots and stupid thoughts and behaviour do exist however, and hopefully most of us know what we mean by this. We are stupid and idiotic aren't we? People believe advertising for example.

I believe that my PRIMARY color is yellow, buuuuuuut I resonate with all of the colors. Is there a special quiz helps me to hone in on how much percentage I have in each of the other color types? This reminds me of the five love languages. We all want all five, there there are one or two primary languages that may be more IMPACTFUL to us over the others.
@wizbuskout
@wizbuskout Жыл бұрын
It's great that you can resonate with all types of people. A great quality indeed! Talking about the percentage, I think it's not worth it to find out the percentages of colors. Just realizing our tendency to act in a certain way is sufficient. For example, you realized that you are YELLOW, which means you like to talk a lot and share stories with others. Then, your goal should be to find out whether you're overdoing it or not. And what kind of stories are you sharing with others? Are they helpful or not? Do more self-reflection. Keep it simple as much as you can if you want to get the best results in the long term. Just don't get into the trap of calculating these things because it can change based on your experiences. Also, don't limit your personality to these 4 colors. It's just a simplistic model to judge personality, but I wish it was that simple. Try to look from different angles. If you really pay attention, you'll see that we're more like rainbows with different colors showing in combination in different situations :) I hope this was helpful.
