The bruising stops. While you are learning to hoop you do it a lot more forceful than needed and it generally sits lower on the hips than it should. All of that improves and gets much easier. I didn’t realize this was even a challenge going around. I used to hoop all the time for exercise. It’s extremely fun to learn new hoop tricks and expand what you do. I saw major results. You can definitely get the same results with other exercises but I feel like hooping brings the child out in all of us. LOL.

Weighted hula hoops are actually not recommended because of the bruising because it can damage your organs etc. The bruising is not a good thing. A none weighted hula hoop is enough.

I have a non-ridged weighted hula hoop and when I first started out years ago I got bad bruising like that. Hula hooping is great for strengthening your core and also for people that suffer with back pain. I’m 58 years old. I love using my weighted hula hoop and the lighter hoops that I made. The heavier the hula hoop the easier it is to keep up. Thanks for sharing! 😊✨👍

I've been using one for months, and I absolutely DO recommend it! The pain and the bruising doesn't go away in a week, but it does go away (at least it did for me). My bruises were much worse than Suzie's, too (think twice as big, and solid black/purple), but then, I bruise very, VERY easily. They happen mostly when you "lose" the hoop, and it hits your hip on the way down. The blood vessels over your hipbones are thin and fragile, and trapped between literal bone and a weighted hoop, well.. what else could possibly happen? It DOES get better (the blood vessels heal and grow more resilient, and as you get better at hooping, you won't drop it nearly as often), and I still love my hoop because it makes exercise available and easy, even when gyms are closed. I have rotated hip bones, and I CAN'T RUN (I have trouble walking correctly at a slow pace), so hula hooping is a great way for me to get some form of cardio in :)

i really like your channel because you have a passion for fitness but you have fun with it and like to experiment new methods to staying healthy. you're fun to watch and always stay positive, and best of all, you keep it REAL! (and it doesn't hurt that we have similar body types.) Also, I find hula-hooping very helpful to staying fit. I'd say it's comparable to swimming because it works all of your body instead of just one part. It's easy to do while watching tv or just listening to good work-out music. if you don't get dizzy easily, then i can even read while doing it. and it's helped me get really fit really fast because it burns lots of calories. i've learned, however, that a bigger hula-hoop works best. the smaller ones are really difficult to keep up.

I love your videos - you're honest, not shy, very entertaining & funny! I used to do body hooping fitness classes where they hooped to music & taught dancing as part of it & they were so fun & did amazing things to my midsection. Then I had 2 kids so I should try it again. Haha. The hooping was what finally made me more comfortable with my body - before that I was way too self conscious & wanted to fade into the background - it gave me confidence to have fun moving in front of others, to laugh at myself & have fun. I got really good at it. Have you ever done a squat, plank or push up challenge? Or Beachbody workout trial? Or soon class? I love all of those. I do weight workouts (just started MBF on Beachbody). Your fitness videos are inspiring. Keep up the great work! 💗 from CT.
