A vocal coach's job is to point out what they hear in the voice and song whether good or not. However, far as I am concerned here, it sounds top notch. If we all sounded perfect, there would be no talent in any other ways. This is phenomenal performance.

Teddy PERFORMS the lyrics... with his soul. Which is why his face reacts with the delivery of the notes and message (lyrics)... he can convey the pain and sorrow of the song, the man exudes soul...

Interesting voice! Love his sound. He has some blues in his soul. Loved your breakdown of his singing, exactly what my vocal coach is working on my upper mix because my vocal chords are so thick and heavy! Thanks for what you do! Loved it! Low bass Kenneth.

Jennifer! This is an interesting one. I'm not familiar with Teddy either but I certainly know the song. Some natural fry in his voice and that was confirmed at the end of the video when he just spoke naturally and there was a bit of fry or "croak" as you put it. Very nice emotiveness in his voice. I was impressed at 8:05 by the way when you remembered the pitch of one of his notes after talking for 45 seconds! 😁 Glad you're continuing to mend. Great reaction and analysis as always Jennifer. And after watching your interview on the Vocast, I know making these videos is a lot more than just pointing a camera at yourself for 15-20 minutes! Thank you so much for what you do! 😊

His version of "You're Still the One" (yes, the Shania Twain song) is sublime. His song with Meghan Trainor, "Bad For Me", is an interesting listen to see how he works with a big star. There are live versions of that (well, live on a taped TV show). He's also worked with Allen Stone and Thomas Rhett.

Teddy Bear 🧸 Teddy Bear 🧸 This song is absolutely amazing of course, but your cover rendition is just sultry 🔥🔥!! You changed the negative energy I’ve had regarding this song for years because I was going through a life altering divorce when this song was released early on and my daughter’s father played it over and over and over again, he came to see our daughter and he would do what felt like torture with this song and it became a ghost that haunted me. NOW, however, I feel you set me free with your sweet, loving, emotional, moving voice that is very much connected to your heart, for sure. I’m loving ♥️♥️on you always and on my quest to meet you FACE TO BEAUTIFUL FACE!!!! Be Sweet 🖤

Teddy is a bit of a vocal chameleon, while keeping his "voice" through everything he sings, his styling switches to support the song he is singing... Some of his more modern songs (Picky) has him in an almost hip-hop/rap style.

Teddy is awesome! His tone and the texture of his voice pull you right in. Someone else who I found about the same time as Teddy is a wonderful lady named Surrija. She was going by the name Jane Lui back then, but she did a cover of "Rainbow Connection" ten years ago which is still to this day my favorite version barr none. Her arrangement could make an interesting A capella arrangement... Give her a look. You won't regret it. Promise! Link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4rCequcZsSDZqM&start_radio=1 P.S. She also did a cover of a song, "Still Hurting" from an off-broadway show called "Last Five Years". Since you're into musical theater, I think you'd appreciate it. All her stuff is great.

Hey Jen, glad to hear that you are getting better! Seeing Teddy, I was wondering if we'd get a Hard Rock/Metal Ballad, or the beautiful performance that we got. By now I don't trust the optics of a singer anymore to guess which genre they sing in.. 😆 Could his "broken vibrato" be described as "tremolo", as in the guitar and organ-effect that varies the volume periodically? Or is that term not used as a singing technique?
@JenniferGlatzhofer Жыл бұрын
Thank you!! It’s not a term normally used for singing as there are pitch alterations in Teddy’s ‘pitch wobbles’ making it vibrato 😊 but because it’s quite broken and the voice does disappear momentarily it seems, it does sound so similar to a tremolo on a guitar like you said. So cool!
Жыл бұрын
@@JenniferGlatzhofer let's just say that his voice and singing style were very fitting for that song. 😉 Nonetheless, an epic, tasteful guitar solo in the middle wouldn't have shocked me at all. By the way, I am looking forward to what you'll have to say about VoicePlays latest release..
