Even the terminology that is used is GREEK . Please respect History ! Notice most of the words their roots are GREEK. Have you heard of Ecclesia tou Dimou. Please count how many words that you are using have Greek origins
Yes, but what about reality? This explains why complete idiots actually get enthusiastic followers to be *for* things that are very bad. This explains why there are people who think murderous rapists should be welcome into all countries. This explains why people like 0bama and the clintons have followers, even though they want horrible things for the USA. :( This Simon Lancaster is so into language, he is blind of reality and facts. This is why he is anti-Trump. Stupid elitist asshole!

I love how he explained that rhetoric isn’t taught in schools as it once used to be. Now there’s so many young people out there that have no idea how to express themselves and it holds them back from making a difference. I somehow feel like this isn’t an accident. Someone was trying to hold us back.

Let's Revive Rhetoric in Public Education! "It is absoulutely scandalous that, when in the world we're dealing with such huge challenges , financial inequalities, the apocalyptic threats of climate change, religious persecution unmatched since the 1940s, that we should be restricting debate to such a narrow minority (the politicians). Instead of teaching our children to sit down and shut up we should be teaching them to stand up and speak out. So, let's revive rhetoric (in education). Let's really reinvigorate debates around the world and let's really give the chance to every child on the planet to become a leader. How should we call this Grand Initiative? Well, here's an idea: How about Democracy!?" Simon Lancaster A strong finish! Superb indeed!

Masterful. I've been teaching rhetoric as a tutor for a while now, and this is truly excellent. So excellent indeed that It should have 100 million views at least, nay 1 billion I say! Even if people do not become master rhetoricians themselves, they need to learn it so that they can defend themselves against manipulation, so that they can grasp the gullibility of the mind on first impressions, and so that they can understand the importance of educating future generations in it.

( ! ) Okay, I really enjoyed this talk and agree this is a very important topic, but this was uploaded in 2016, I'm writing this comment in 2018. Nothing has changed at all. Nobody (to my knowledge) has implemented retoric/speech in the school programs. The same goes for other valuable ideas shared before in TEDx, for example, I remember a talk given by an old man who lived in Africa and had discovered how to stop climate change by bringing in roaming cattle to dry lands... What are we waiting for? This comment section is full of capable and inteligent people, We applaud this concepts and ideas, but we don´t take action.
@thorstenharde70216 жыл бұрын
I agree with you! The ideas need to be spread to decision maker. I think there are many of us viewer willing to send a mail. Because this can initiate a big change. But fewest of us will know who to contact such person. I dont know but maybe a government department is the right receiver.

Here is the thing... those "elite" he mentioned at the end doesn't have any interest of spreading this and many other good ideas as they could be a threat to the same "elite" It is kind of US paragraph 22 - those who can change it are also those who going to take the negatives so... ;)

Important Clippings: - 6 speech writer secrets: 1. The rule of 3. Like TEDx slogan: rethink, reinvent, and reinvest ourselves. 2. Three sentences in which the opening clause is repeated. 3. Metaphor is probably the most important piece of political communication. 4. Images of positive and negative things. 5. Exaggeration 6. Rhyming sentences -They work because they speak to the instinctive, emotional and logical brains. -Instead of teaching our children to sit down and shut up, we should be teaching them stand up and speak out.
