I enjoy these types of unfiltered/edited review with a few buddies just talking trucks or cars depending on the vehicle. Nice to see a non LIMITED or super loaded trucks on here as well, even though I do love that REBEL 12 or even the REBEL 8 lol ... I am with Andre on the anti-chrome make it with the Sport Appearance package and that would be great. As far as RAM goes I like the Bighorn and up with the better and bigger UConnect system, but for a work truck that 5 inch screen is nice and thankfully it has a back up camera.

Good luck,sorry for the essay !

"Cheap" is relative. Besides that, MSRP isn't necessarily the sales price. Dealers are already discounting them. For example, this truck has over $15,000 in discounts .www.chapmanchryslerjeeppennsylvania.com/new/Ram/2019-Ram-1500-26eeb3ff0a0e0a17289b71c74999af8f.htm

emdec55 big discounts here. Not seeing $15k off but $11k-$12k for sure making the price around $33k. But at the end of the day this is why I choose the new Titan. The 3.6 P Engine is good enough for most things a 1/2 ton is used for. I've ran one since 2015 and I'm really happy with the fuel economy and power seems decent enough. If one needs to haul heavier trailers then the 5.7 will handle a larger load - but you'll need more fuel to do it. Or buy a 3/4 ton and it will haul almost anything one needs to haul. The package itself is practical from a truck owners perspective. This test vehicle must have a trailer hitch - but I didn't hear if it was mentioned. Also, you 's mentioned the rim size but didn't mention the tire size. The only thing missing for this truck as a work truck is fender flares for protection on unpaved job sites, mud etc and a box liner. Fog lights come in handy too.

Glad to hear a review on the Tradesman version. I bought a 2018 Tradesman 2500 Crew Cab with the cummins diesel, 8' bed, 4x4, work grade vinal seat's and the 5th wheel/gooseneck tow prep package, the truck has more chrome than I wanted but in the Granite Crystal Metallic Paint the 18" Chrome steel wheels actually look very good. Electric windows and door locks. It's a no nonsense work truck that doesn't look like a work truck, I love it. Love the cummins diesel too. After coming from a loaded Silverado 1/2 ton for 18 year's, the simplisticity of the new 3/4 ton RAM is a welcome change.

I haul my 5500lb camper regularly across NJ through PA and upstate NY. Took it all the way out to the mid west on a big haunting camping trip. I bought the RamBighorn1500 v6 etorque crew cab over the v6 Hemi. 13.5 MPG through mountains maintaining 60-70MPH. Very rarely have I ever topped 4000 RPMS (with 1 exception traveled through PA and forgot tow haul mode once at most I hit 4500 RPMs). 58k sticker price bought for 48k Fully loaded minus the airbag suspension. I invested extra money in a good weight distribution hitch. City driving I get 22-24MPG all day long. Drive the beach regularly on the Jerseyshore. V8Hemi has no use for me I will never haul 10,000lbs 😆 . 7,700 max towing is plenty for me!

I own both the Hemi in my 04 1500 crew cab and the v6 in my new 17 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have to say, that v6 is no slouch, running empty it runs just as well if not better then my hemi. I was totally surprised. My wife probably said it best when she said "wow, this v6 GC really likes to run", and the fuel mileage is fabulous... Not sure I would buy the v6 if I was towing a lot, actually I would go with the 3/4 ton and bigger Hemi
@slomango79276 жыл бұрын

I've had two Pentastar V-6s, a 2013 and a 2015. I absolutely love that package (came with the 8 spd tranny). Both were Big Horn 2WD quad cabs. Quietest interior cabs we ever experienced. We took one on a 8,600 mile coast to coast trip utilizing back roads and smaller highways so speeds were moderate. Hand calculated mileage for the entire trip was 22.4 mpg. With the second one we pulled a 3500 lb travel trailer coast to coast (over 8,000 miles) and averaged 14.8 mpg. The only issue with this model is that you cannot get a crew cab with a 6'-5" bed (only the short short bed). If you want the 6'-5" bed you have to take the quad cab version. I'd own another one today if it weren't for this limitation.

For 2019 the Ram uses brakes to help with traction. For most all driving this system is what nearly all modern AWD systems use to transfer power. From the owners manual: A feature of the TCS, Brake Limited Differential (BLD), functions similar to a limited slip differential and controls the wheel spin across a driven axle. If one wheel on a driven axle is spinning faster than the other, the system will apply the brake of the spinning wheel. This will allow more engine torque to be applied to the wheel that is not spinning. BLD may remain enabled even if TCS and ESC are in a reduced mode.

This is more than just a work truck. This is a truck that a Dad with kids and other expenses could actually afford. On top of that it has some nice features and upgrades. The better these V6 engines get, the more I feel that they should be the preferred engine in a 1/2 ton truck. Overall they get better mileage and they are still pushing 300+ horsepower. Great review.
@achebe1716 жыл бұрын
Yeah but the hp comes at like 5000 rpm. Plus only 270lb ft of t, probably in at like 5000 rpm. My 04 ram 1500, with a 4.7 makes 230 hp at a little 4000 rpm but makes over 300 on ft of t st only 3200 rpm. Much more efficient and reliable for doing what they are built for.

I agree. I bought a 2018 Ram 1500 Tradesman 4x4 quad cab, and chose the V6, though I could've afforded the Hemi or the diesel for that matter. I paid $26,400. The most I tow is my 4,000# boat, and not very often. I haul lumber, our gear and luggage, and take it to hiking trailheads and the like on weekends. Seats 6 and has a very comfortable ride. I also get 26 mpg. on the highway, and 18 or so in heavy city driving. The V-6 makes more sense for my ordinary use, and has ample power. I think many people end up investing in more pickup truck weight and power than they ever really use.

As long as you feel it well it is good to go. I recently drove test one of these and honestly it feels really smooth, even when you make turns. It has some great amount of torque when you barely touch the gas paddle. I would say if you like full size trucks, specially a ram, and you won’t use it for any very heavy duty and just use it for everyday use, and also with fuel economy, this v6 is a great option. It is the same if you want to get a camaro, you just like the looks of it and don’t want it to spend a lot of gas, get a v6 or an in-line 4.

This is the "responsible choice" for those that want a truck for the lifestyle enhancements, but don't want a 14mpg fire breathing V8 they'll never utilize.

The air suspension is available on all trim models, the ram guy said it in a previous video with you guys. Can’t believe you forgot that. Great vid though

You had me up to Start/Stop, Is there a easy way to permanently shut it off ?

Work truck reviews are excellent. Please do some basic off-roaders like the rebel tradesman or the Custom Trailboss when available.

I don't know if buying a silverado 5.3 awd WT or this tradesman 5.7 etorque awd. Price is slightly better for the chevrolet that is also lighter and slightly quicker. but the ram has air suspensions, etorque technology and supposedly better comfort. That's an hard choice for me. Consider I want a pickup but rarely haul more than 250 lbs. I just buy it because I want a fullsize suv (like the tahoe) space engine and platform in a cheaper package. Any advise for me?

I just checked at the dealership, there's an offroad package with heavier duty shocks/suspension, full skidplates, and a rear e-locker and it's only $800, for the tradesman🙌🙌

Andre you should go on the configurator and see how much more a similarly equipped big Horn is and do a video

How would it compare on the IKE to the F150 2.7 ecoboost. Meaning the E-torque is not constant due to battery length where the economist will keep the torque constant.

I've got a 2015 ram tradesman with the v6 eco diesel. This is Damn near the same spec option wise as my truck and I love it. Plus the mpgs are fantastic. I average about 23 mpg.

The approach to this review was excellent. A bread and butter real world look at the trucks us regular blue collar guys would buy.

Carpeted floors should be outlawed in trucks.
@bkranz-12836 жыл бұрын
Yea carpet looks nice but in reality your feet can't tell the difference and rubber is wayyyy easier to clean.
@alexpuls82196 жыл бұрын
No. Not everyone wants rubber floors. Especially in their $70,000 luxury truck. I understand in work trucks. But not expensive trucks. Makes it feel cheaper than it really is.
@paulsylvester13946 жыл бұрын
Add a good set of mats and you get the sound and temperature insulating properties of carpet with the easy clean of rubber/vinyl. For many, even a work truck has to do multiple jobs for business and family.
@gregbaird75826 жыл бұрын
@@alexpuls8219 A rubber floor is available on the King Ranch F150, the most expensive model in Ford's lineup. A lot of people want the option of the rubber floor on a fully loaded truck.
@alexpuls82196 жыл бұрын
@@gregbaird7582 yes I know that. I'm not against rubber floors in a truck. But carpet is nice too. Not everyone wants rubber floors. I have a King ranch and I would much rather have nice plush carpets than tacky looking rubber floors

Mr. Truck taking part in a pickup truck review is a "surprise guest"?

my company uses silverado work trucks and the sticker price with options is 44,700. It has apple car play/android auto, way easier to clean vinyl seats, and rubberized floor. 110 outlet. same features as this truck minus the rear power sliding window. its a 17 btw.

Looking forward to the reviews .... Ram wasn’t about to go all Nissan with its loaner ( hardly bare bones ) but then again, biggest complaints of work trucks are no cruise & no power windows.... hate yelling “come around, it’s not power” when someone tries talking to you from the safety of curbside. Sucks switching from right foot to left foot to work pedals because of leg fatigue

I LIKE LOUD SPEAKERS I love it. My mother in law has one in her van and it’s quick off the line and I know they tune it differently for the truck. I would buy one in a heart beat

We have that engine in our minivan. It screams above 4,000 RPM's and really takes off at that point. The funny thing is sometimes when I have it floored and it hits that sweet spot at about 5,000 RPM's and accelerates quicker it will rev up above 6,500 RPM's and hit the rev limiter before the computer could react and upshift! It's done it a few times and occasionally it does it on the 1st to 2nd shift and then the 2nd to 3rd shift back to back! HA HA This engine performs the opposite of the Ford Ecoboost. This engine has mediocre power down low and then takes off like a rocket above 4,500 RPM's The Ford Ecoboost tears ass from just off idle but then doesn't feel too special once revved up. Of course the Ecoboost makes a lot more power overall but this is a fun little engine to feel it pull hard after the initial lag in power down low.

The truck version of the 3.6 puts out 20hp more than the minivan version. But I agree, after about 3500rmp, it wakes right up.
