I can totally relate to this video! I was born and raised Italy 🇮🇹 on fresh and REALLY healthy food (only oil we used was the best olive oil!), we had chickens and fresh eggs daily and never even heard (or needed!) of vitamins and supplements … my family made a point in buying everything fresh every day … the Mediterranean diet, they called it. When I came to the US and I saw the food here, I cried 😢😢😢 - literally! …and I couldn’t possibly understand why people ate all this garbage. It was harsh. My mother is 88 now, she still keeps the same diet and has no physical problems whatsoever: healthy as a kid, no medications of any kind. Zero. USA 🇺🇸 might be a free country… but the food is a disgrace 😱

Agree, 100%... Half my family still lives in Italy. Its amazing the difference, but I think it also has to do with the food being so fresh. Most being from farm to table, no pesticides, and made in the household. Sardegna, Italy is one of the places considered blue zone. Blue zone is geographic areas in which people have low rates of chronic disease and live longer than anywhere else. The study describes the common lifestyle features of people in Blue Zones, including why they live longer.

Factors that make this the worst food in the world for your health: 1. It combines starch and fat under high heat • This creates advanced glycation end products, which affect your eyes, brain, heart, and kidneys. 2. Hydrogenated oils • This contains trans fats, which affect your cells, harden your arteries, and may increase your risk for cancer. 3. Acrylamide • This is a neurotoxin that has been linked to Alzheimer's. 4. Sugar • Sugar can lead to many different health problems. This food may contain sugar, beet sugar, dextrose, or maltodextrin. All of these types of sugars are very dangerous. 5. Glyphosate • I believe glyphosate can potentially alter a person's microbiome and may lead to negative health effects. 6. Seed oils • These oils are very inflammatory. 7. Ketchup • Ketchup contains high fructose corn syrup, which can lead to fatty liver and insulin resistance. It also has corn syrup, modified corn starch (MSG), and soy oil. You probably guessed it-the most dangerous food in the world for your health is French fries. Thank you Dr Berg!!

Are you ok to agree that US French fries are nothing to do with French ‘frites’ home made. Even if they are still a not to eat meal (and if you can’t avoid it, in north of France they eat them with vinegar - could be interesting to see how this affect the negative effect of starch).
@JamesPlatt88

I used to work in a chemical factory in Missouri. We made agricultural products that farmers spray onto crops. One was glyphosate, which is the generic version of roundup. Everyone who worked there swore it was non toxic and harmless, and you did not even need to wear gloves when we were making this product. It did have "sugar" in it though which would make your hands sticky, therefore 'you may want to wear gloves' because of that. So I was the only one wearing any PPE, because I did not believe them. I found a different job after a few months and am glad I got out of there.

23 years ago, my fit and seemingly healthy 52 yr old brother had a heart attack. His doctor told him the worst food anyone could ever eat was french fries and told him it was a contributing factor to his heart attack. My brother, of course, spread the word to the rest of the family. I wish I could say I stopped eating french fries then and there but in reality, I didn't stop eating them until I started Keto 4 years ago. I'd known for 19 years that french fries are the worst food to consume, but still it didn't sink in until Keto and I immediately noticed how much healthier I felt without potatoes, sugar and wheat. I should have listened to my brother who is off french fries and very healthy right now at 75.

Potatoes although not ketogenic, if cooked properly ie NOT deep fried, ie boiled are fine and if eaten in MODERATION. Not that I eat them. But the Doc is dead right on deep fried food ie fries and chips, cooked in tired highly refined oils full of - omega 6, hydrogenated, transfats and acrylamide. Deadly if eaten any more than rarely or never. The worst thing you can do is eat fries or chips that have been sitting around all day in a heat cabinet as the acrylamide content will be VERY HIGH. If you are going to indulge yourself make sure they are freshly cooked and haven't been sitting around waiting for a victim.

Just wanted to add that the ketchup in Europe (some parts of it anyway) is much more traditional. You'll find sugar not HFCS, and you'll often just find tomatoes and herbs/spices, some salt. Especially the slightly more health-oriented ketchup varieties (common in supermarkets from big brands like heinz) which offer 50% reduction in sugar are, in my humble opinion, net contributors to health due to the insane amount of lycopene and other antioxidants. I don't disagree with your analysis of regular ketchup but it's important to note that not all ketchups are created equal :)

You’ve been right about all of it, Dr Berg! And judging by what people are still eating, they need to discover your brilliant short videos that cure people. I decided I’d make the pandemic count for something, so I plunged into your keto program with intermittent fasting. My girlfriend pointed out that I could do this, because these were foods I liked. Well, it opened up a whole new world for me. This was priceless information mixed with the compassion our healthcare system does NOT have, or want, because it’s not profitable. Not going to turn this into a rant, I just wanted to point out that you gave me a way to bypass the ambiguous, disappointing diet results that Ive been putting up with for so long, and now have a real tool that bypasses my hypothyroid I got from drinking water close to 3mileIsland back in 1980, traveling with my job. It changed my metabolism. But keto works anyway in spite of it, and also has real profound health benefits, because your brand of keto causes us to avoid all these terrible foods, and ingredients. You’ve also given me a license to eat healthy fats. It’s such a different approach that actually works, and is good for us. Doughnuts seem to also meet the criteria of the french fry. Pointing out that it’s really a poison that is never an option, no mater what diet your on. I feel really fortunate that I know that, and no longer have an addiction to all junky, processed phofood, Which is just another corporate manipulation that we should all resist, and resent

What I’ve noticed is that you’ll eat a lot healthier if you cook and get fresh organic produce. Fast food generally comes from processed packaged food and they always will use cheap ingredients. I live in the UK, and I was at the seaside recently during the heatwave we had. I went to a Fish & Chip shop there and had battered sausage & chips. It tasted amazing, but Dr. Berg's advice about fries has really made me think...

Thanks for the great topics, Dr. Berg. Just a point of clarification to keep things accurate and informative: the glyphosate herbicide is called “Roundup”; “Roundup Ready” are the genetically modified crop seeds that are resistant to its glyphosate-based herbicide, Roundup.

We had our children in the 90s, no McDonald’s, no pop, no hotdogs. It was tough because other children had birthday parties that included these items and more. But we told our kids why some foods were unhealthy. Today they are 30 and 28 and they continue to eat well. We’re so grateful that we stood by what we thought was right for them. I share my videos of Dr. Berg. They are so grateful that we were careful with what they ate when they were younger. It wasn’t always easy but education is key.

I think one of the worse things that we do here in the UK is the school lunches. They are incredibly unhealthy, you either have white bread sandwiches or pizza and chips, or fried frozen chicken. I never ate school lunches, I always got salads or prepared steamed vegetables. Thanks to Dr Berg and his keto and IF, I lost 20kg in 8 months, that is life changing. Thank you Dr Berg.

I the fast pace of life, where does a person go that ensures they can purchase safe food?

Glad to see you giving this information that was so unheard of when I was reading David Gillespie's 2015 books . Such a con to say seed oils are vegetable oils, eh? And I remember when margarine first came out in Canada . It was a white solid in a bag with a capsule of yellow dye that you squeezed into the solid , and everyone thought it was fantastic because it was cheaper and supposedly healthier than butter ! Talk about a con. Another thing: a friend told me that canola oil was once a motor lubricating oil that they genetically modified then hydrogenated it to make it solid . True? I would cringe watching adored Hugh Fearnley -Whittingstall fling it around (he called it rape seed oil but... ) Thank you and please keep on warning us.

Critter free and "farming" indoors year round now for a long time - sprouts of all kinds. We buy in bulk, 35 to 50 lbs. Lasts a long time, less expensive than gardening outside, WAY less expensive than retail sprouting seeds (the definition of consumer rip-off). More healthful than than the mature veg of whatever it is, surprisingly. Only non-sprout veg we eat is homemade sauerkraut, which we make from local organic cabbages. Ginger carrot kraut...oh dear, that's good.
