Bought a 2024 3.0 and other than my 6.7 power stroke, this is my favourite truck i've ever owned. Super smooth, amazing mileage, lots of power, fun to drive, sounds cool. Great vehicle overall. Getting over 1000km to a tank of fuel.

First vehicle that i have put over 20k miles on in less than a year. My 24 GMC Sierra Slt 4X4 is such a joy to drive that we take it on trips over taking my wifes subaru outback. The last long trip we took was from Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Clarksville Tennessee. We averaged 30.1 mpg there, and 29.6 on the return trip. The total mileage was around 1350 with 4 occupants, and luggage. For comparison, my wifes Subaru on the same trip averaged 26.5. Average speed was around 70. Took 2 tanks of fuel for the entire trip.

I was on the fence between the 3 liter and the 2.8 in the Colorado. Both had a timing belt style maintenance. I went with the 3.0 in the Silverado and probably won’t worry about the oil pump belt till at least 200k, probably more if ever tbo. The fact that the belt is wet and under virtually no stress, I doubt we’ll see much of a failure rate with them. Dry actual timing belts get run way past there service interval and make it under a lot of stress.

21' RST crew 4X, 3.0. Best mileage 39.3, many times in the 31-34 mpg range. Park outside in the UP close to Lake Superior. Never plugged in once, Winter temps, -20 to -30. Up here when you stay in a motel in the Winter there's outlets in the parking lots to plug your auto, or snowmobile block heater into. Semi trucks just let em idle all night.

@@firstlast--- I haven’t seen any come in for that yet. However i say this and first thing Monday there’s going to be one waiting. Weve had to replace two both Yukons so far that was definitely a pain having to come straight out. One of them had a warped crankshaft from the factory.
@firstlast---

@beauxduncan6506 We've had one so far that needed chains. There are more people reporting issues on KZbin and on forums. Coolant control valves are becoming a big issue as well. I've mainly done emission repairs. Had to do an injector and it's harness on one lm2. Radiators as well but that's all the trucks. Pulling the cab is the way to go for sure when doing heavy work on this engine. I haven't pulled a body on an suv before but I hear it's not that much more work compared to a truck

@ coolant pumps definitely have been getting worse. Had a few for emissions issues. In 2021-22 had a good few for wiring harnesses. I haven’t pulled the body on the suv for one yet I’ve just went through the front. However even with the few we’ve had it’s paled in comparison to the amount of V8 lifters and cams we’ve burnt through.
@firstlast---

@@beauxduncan6506 For sure lol there's no shortage of lifter jobs. Gm is cutting corners big time on wiring harnesses across the board. Trying to take parts off and the connector has literally no give to it at all so it's a huge pain to unplug. I wouldn't mind a Silverado since I'm so familiar with them I just don't know if I want to deal with the issues lol

@ that’s my thought pattern. If I bought a GM truck I’d just get a 2500 gasser. Those never come in for issues besides the fuel pump modules. However my Titan hasn’t given the first bit of trouble in 10 years and it’s paid for so it’s like ehh this will do fine.

@@joshtaylor1416 Only have to fill the DEF like every 6000-8000km, really not that bad. So less than $200/ year in DEF. Wife has the 5.3 and it's a good engine, but slower and way worse on mileage than the 3.0. Hands down 3.0 is the best engine option for these trucks in my opinion.

It had like all most nothing coming out of the tail pipe as far as emissions go But they don’t make it anymore so hopefully duramax keeps making the 3.0. Do you know if it’s still produced by Isuzu?

@ all duramax engines are produced by a sub company that Isuzu and GM built now. Called you guessed it Duramax. I have yet to see a problem with the oil pump on these trucks. The biggest problem I’ve seen has been the auxiliary coolant pumps
