Honestly, I can't thank you enough dude. Excellent tutorials. I've been drawing for many years but never got to use Flash until now, these tutorials have let me jump right in and get started. If it's two characters talking to one another, i animate them separately in their own clip, if it's low impact physical interaction, i animate them in the same graphic with their own respective tweens and movements, if it's high impact physical interaction, frame by frame in the same clip.

Animating in different files and rendering to compile later is a good approach to working on larger projects.

Audio placed within a graphic will not be heard in a published Swf, Audio in a Movie clip WILL. I tend to work with all the audio filed in the graphics to sync audio, and once animated, have it in line with the same audio in the main timeline.

To draw into a symbol itself you have to double click to enter it, then draw. If that's not the problem then you might have drawn the initial lines as objects, or have your current brush setting to paint behind.

I remembered I watched this video a while ago and I wanted a refresher on how to use masks and movie clips to make an ongoing stream. I couldn't find this video again because I couldn't remember what it was called. I tried searching "masks" "clipping" on Jazza's channel but I couldn't find it. You need to increase the capture rate. The default rate it 1, which plays it the same speed it captures it at, I usually use a minimum of two, which means it plays twice as slow, then speeds it up and adds the audio in the processing, which means it has nearly no dropped frames or lag.

The last brush setting is called "paint inside." It only paints inside the color you first touch with your cursor. If you look at Jazza's beginner video on Flash. He describes it in great detail.

had so many issues exporting my animations as videos and had to record my screen when doing a test movie thing... this video made me realize my bits were movie clips and not graphics and that it made a major difference when exporting them. good tutorial.

actionscript very much depends on what you plan on happening in the flash, and if you are coding things like buttons. For info there, look at the creative resources in the description. As for flash version, this is most important for things like games, if you are making an animation, you should be fine with most versions, something in the higher end would be better though.

User interfaces are tricky since there are way to many styles and approaches and not any 'right' way to do it. I could do a let's draw perhaps. I'll add your suggestions to my list :)

You need to turn of 'object drawing', it's in the tools panel underneath where the color boxes are.

hey batman in flash look to the left at the tools while you have your brush selected, then there should be a circle with a box around it at the bottom that say's object drawing click on it, or you can press "J", hope that helps.

First, I want say thank you! You are truly awesome. I was able to import a Photoshop project into Flash. I got it to work somewhat, although it was entirely too fast. For some reason I could not see the other layers of my project at the same time as my selection or really figure out how to adjust the speed. I will keep watching the rest of your tutorials to see if I can understand more. I image I will get. After all this is the first video of yours I watched. I will look for more. Moyea?! I was absolutely sure you were going to suggest just loading the SWF file into Adobe Premiere... It reads it perfectly. I haven't tested it yet, but I think that if you have Media Player Classic Home Cinema and Flash for Internet Explorer, you can load SWF files into any video editing program, all that's left then is to export from that program to any video format... The advantage here, is that you can do some video editing before converting. Either way, thanks for the tutorial!

Hi Jazza a QQ. 19:42 you copy paste FBF animation into another frame to show how tweens work. I thought I would have two keyframes then with one containing FBF animation and the other one using tweens. I ended up having the 'tween' animation on both of them >.> Did I miss something, please?
