In this video, Tim demonstrates the chin-up squat, a member of the LongStrength family created by Dr. Leonard Schwartz. This is a fantastic movement for building your arms and back with an appropriate load (your body).

I do a similar movement with suspension straps. Great shout out to Dr. Schwartz and heavy hands.

Well I tried it on rings and did 40 slow reps without trying too hard. I was 64 yesterday so I try not to red line my old ticker anymore! It’s a great exercise Tim, thanks for sharing it!

I love this. The rehab/prehab potential of that kind of whole body push/pull, compress/decompress combo ... wow!

Bonus points for the Charlie Brown reference. No D- for you This looks an awful lot like standing rocking! Nice

These are great. Particularly if you can set up with rings - you're free to rotate the shoulders

Tried this yesterday. Chin-ups and pull-ups. Both worked. Great exercise and will use this more often!

The Charlie Brown reference 😂. This is a great move. After playing around with it on a fixed bar, you can also 'push' yourself down to also get some overhead pressing in as well

I've been thinking about this exercise for a while now, would be great to introduce certain populations to exercise. Also the Dip Hinge (yes D i p) would be the counterpart. Glad I'm not alone in thinking this is worth something.

I did one “pick 2” session where I superset the push-hinge and the squat-pull. This video reminds me I should do that again.

Like previous comment I do this not with bar or suspension trainer, but rings. However I usually do. 10's. Today I will try the high reps😮

Schwartz was an interesting guy. I think he made moves like this because he thought intense strength-training and Valsalva was detrimental to the heart.

It all just depends - I think it’s worth exploring. You could do 100 reps at time, a session, or per day. You could do 10 minutes of time, just getting the reps you can get in and resting as needed until 10 minutes expires. No hard rules, just pure fun.

P. OK I'll start with 100 total then maybe once or twice a month go crazy for time or 200 reps. I think doing the rope would help my grip immensely

I think it would be interesting to do it with a single ring and a pistol squat, and just alternate after so many reps. Maybe use a little box so you don't fatigue the hip flexors.
