#askeck The Galactic Empire from Star Wars is invaded by the Great Gamilas empire from Space Battleship Yamato. Do the imperials hold off the assault of these blue skinned invaders or do the Gamilas emerge victorious? And which side would the Rebel Alliance join? Even if you don’t do this scenario could you please do something with “Space Battleship Yamato?” Attempt number 13

#askeck If the empire invaded earth what would an Iowas main guns with nuclear shells do to a ISD
@josephn8325
@josephn8325 5 жыл бұрын
@Sprint 600 Well the ISD would have to be at an extremely low altitude for the Iowa to score a hit with its main guns. Depending on the yield of the shells ane the calcs you use for the ISD’s shields a full broadside could do anything from minor damage to causing a cataclysmic reaction that brings the imperial ship down in amazing fashion while “Thunderstruck” blasts in the background.

I think partially the reason why an attempt like that was never attempted again was for two reasons. 1. The attack was meant to stir a ruckus in the senate during a specific talk for peace. Using them too often would eventually undermine the clones and by extension Palpatine. If it was an actual war with no Sith meddling then heck yeah they would use them more. 2. It was a one-trick-pony. After what happened you could assume that all clone guards were required to change up their tactics or detection. You got your pot shot in. But you could never do it again successfully.
@lenkagamine4145

but making everyone terrified of droids would cripple the economy of many planets and lead to civil unrest too, so in a way making use of the tactic woudl be effective in another sense; all the extra tactics and detection required to counter such a strategy would cost the republic greatly.

@MuffinYoBusiness
@MuffinYoBusiness 5 жыл бұрын
It would have been more beneficial to had multiple of these droids detonate in several key systems simultaneously. And attack like that could have crippled the Republic and forced them into a surrender. However I do agree that if this tactic was used throughout the war it would very quickly become ineffective.

@Commander Kyro well only republic worlds are going to be terrified of droids unless your attacking your own settlements. I mean... making your enemy scared of your military because your using your military being a bad thing is weird to me. By that logic, wouldnt they just not attack any worlds with droids since it would "rally more support othe republic"?

Datman King in the season 3 Arc when Ahsoka was Kidnapped and put into a Survival scenario, their was an Easter egg I had completely missed years prior. In the final episode of that Arc when Ahsoka is facing off with the Trandoshan leader, I saw a Mandolorian helmet from the Era of the Old Republic. It was such a cool Easter egg I had never seen before and led me to believe that Trandoshans sport hunting was something that’s been around for thousands of years, it’s great what you can notice in a show even this many years later. And I’m grateful it’s getting it’s proper conclusion this month.

Lolt West what Star Wars Rebels lacked was the Amazing Animation, Even Season 1 and 2 of Clone wars had better art style and Animation. But it’s all mostly due to the fact that unlike Clone Wars, George Lucas didn’t fund the animation, which is why it looks so off in comparison.

I always saw it has there was essentially an original “order” for a certain number of clones. They mention in the movie how not all of them are ready so the Kaminoans are probably just focusing on the growth of the ones they already made. With the war looking like it will never end and the extremely high casualty rate for the clones the purchasing of more clones could be seen as a sort of plan for the future. With more clones being prepared the Republic then doesn’t have to worry as much about conserving troops. Also I’m pretty sure in that episode mentioned at the end they’re at a hospital and it’s said that the clones are in bacta tanks.
@drizzt7dourden7

a) indeed those were hospitalised clones. b) we actually SEE the baby clones in the movie which means they are still producing at that point. c) i assumed "buy new clones" is the simple way of saying "continue the funding of the kaminoan cloning effords and get the next batch ready and equiped"

Well they did experiment with different droids. "The Cestus Deception" novel talks about this with Obi Wan and Kit Fisto trying to halt the building of these Jedi Killer droids that were pretty effective against Jedi, along with the combat droids used in the Battle of Jabiim. Also I do wonder if the Republic was unaware of other cloners like Arkanian Micro? Or did the Kaminoans have a contract with the Republic that had a clause that didn't allow for them to use the Fett template elsewhere, even though in Republic Commando its revealed they start using Spaartii Clones produced by Arkanian Micro or Palps did at least.

A wide-scale attack like the one you mentioned would be exponentially more difficult and risky than the infiltration we see used in the show. They're much more likely to be discovered, and they might not have any way to report their discovery to the CIS, so they could be disabled. Ideally, you would never directly attack with your droid spies, because that will raise suspicions towards all droids. Instead, they should be used to gather information or subtly sabotage key systems during battles, giving a much more long-term benefit to the CIS. It would probably severely damage the reputation of whichever corporation designed them, though, which is probably why they weren't used like that.

5:27 That shot was in S02E15 but it was a callback to S01E03, they are injured clones in bacta tanks. I don't think they know how to grow adult clones. I also think that Palpatine meddled with the CIS tactics, so that they would only use this type of droid for one specific attack instead of multiple ones simultaneously as you suggest: by only attacking the generator, the war could continue, without any loss to the existing Republic army. This way, Palpatine can grow the Republic army even further until he'll form the Empire.

A mass attack with these drones runs the risk of exposure. It takes time to move through the galaxy, time in which something could happen to one of the droids. An accident happens, routine maintenance check ups, someone notices it isn't as effective as it should be, or a malfunction happening. The longer it takes and the more you use, the higher the chance of discovery becomes.

Possibly loss of performance (compared to LAAT without those turrets) compared to effectiveness was deemed unacceptable, which could be compounded by combat losses among turret operators. the gun pods are mainly seen defending the gunships against light fighters, which the Geonosians used on a large scale against the republic forces. On other planets sealed doors were more of a priority for most planetary deployments. Despite the high use of light fighters against gunships by the Umbarans, the spotlights were a higher priority for being able to see the landing zones and make sure the clones would have a safe deployment position on the ground. The gunships also two of the same pods mounted to the wings, so four wasn't as necessary for most deplyoments.

It always Seemed like the Clone wars was so close to concluding numerous times throughout the Series, but all it took was the destruction of a power grid to completely sabotage any chance of a peaceful resolution. That’s probably the best thing about the Clone wars TV show was how much you wanted the War to end, to prevent deaths on both sides, but you already know that Palpatine was steps ahead and that neither side was ever going to be allowed to win. Even Ezra Bridger from Star Wars Rebels had realized the point of the clone wars, and all from just a simulated battle, That the Only side that was allowed to win was the Empire.

This might be one of my all time favs of yours Eck, purely because it has reignited my interest in The Clone Wars series. I've been debating diving into it more deeply ever since it first came out, since back when it did I initially was annoyed that it existed (having enjoyed most of the 2003 series and been disappointed when it was canceled) then almost immediately deciding it seemed to childish when I briefly saw part of an episode that involved Jar-Jar. However after that I happened to catch most of the episode Rookies and realized just how wrong I was, then watched through the Malevolence saga and a handful of other compelling episodes before moving to a new town where I no longer had TV or Netflix access. Now that things are more settled, I've heard tons of praise for it and Rebels, I now have Disney+ and the incredibly intriguing episode you've just covered, I most Definitely am going to rectify my mistake many years ago! Thanks for the content I always appreciate seeing your vids and look forward to the next one :)

Hi EckhartsLadder! One possible explanation of the buying of new clones was that they were buying troops in advance of when the clones themselves were supposed to be bought. I believe that increased demand and advances in cloning/training meant that Clone troopers were being rushed out faster, say it took 9 years instead of 10. So because the clones were needed in advance, they were "bought" As for the droids, yeah it's too bad we didn't see more of them. The separatists had some other great sneak attack droids though, like the cloaking droids that invaded Ilum in the 2003 clone wars series.

I've wondered about those destroyer droids in this episode as well, I've always assumed it was linked into why the main CIS droids were always so foolish... was it that Palpatine didn't want the CIS to win and therefore they never did anything to actually win the war. After all they have the capacity to destroy the republic if they really wanted to. In this episode they needed to hit hard at the Senate itself to trick the Senators into voting to continue the war but most of the time they didn't want to do any real damaged to the Republic and Palpatine wanted it for himself and his Imperial Navy!

In Darth Plagues, Higo Damask used his connections with the intergalactic banking Clan to secure loans for an expansion in cloning facilities. Many years before the war. It's in the chapter when he's talking to the kaminoins about specific aspects of the cloning process. That's how they were able to produce so many.

The problem with massive wide-spread attacks using theese droids is that coordination and logistics will require a relatively long build-up phase. You will not be able to insert all the droids everywhere you want to strike at the same day. So those droids allready inserted will have to stay under cover and perform their cover tasks for a while. That increases the risk of something going wrong. Remember: Those droids only stay undiscoverd as long as no-one looks at them too closely. All it takes is one curious mechanic wanting to take a look at that new cleaning droid, or a random accident damaging one of them and the secret plan is blown wide open.

If you read the Republic Commando novels, Palpatine was also growing clones on Centax II. Grew them as full adults in less than a year and they were imprinted with flash training while grown. Less effective than the Kamino clones but far less expensive and easier to produce.

Based on Episode two and Karen Travis novels the Kaminoisns had clone production running so that they supply roughly 100k clones to reinforce the first units every few months. Basically just enough to keep the force close to full strength but never enough to overwhelm the CIS. Palpatine's crafted stalemate.

I agree with what one of the other comments says. They couldn’t have used the same tricks twice because they would’ve wised up to them, and they couldn’t do *too* much damage because of Palpatine But I think you’re right, if they really wanted to they could’ve done a large scale simultaneous attack to not only deal a massive blow to their infrastructure, but also sow terror from the sudden and unexpected attacks, leaving them in an extremely vulnerable stay for a massive invasion to finish them off

I know I've already asked this but in case you didn't see it... Why didn't anyone put tractor beams on the surface of planets to pull down attacking ships so they crash? In a way where the ship doesn't hit the tractor beams or base that's being defended

Great video Eck. The CIS could've done a lot with these tactics, not only in damage the droids caused, but also the psychological factor of not knowing if your pet MSE droid is about to explode and kill you. #AskEck Did the Republic ever consider trying to introduce a computer virus to the CIS droid programming? And would this have worked, or did droids come with Norton, AVG or McAfee installed by default? And did the CIS ever consider trying the same trick on the Republic, enter a virus into a Republic Venator's flight computer system?

I think the idea of buying more clones is that the current armies were still capable in their own right but the Kaminoan facilities either A. Weren’t making new batches of clones, hence this new purchase would begin new production that would allow the current armies to be supplemented as they were continually shrinking due to battles Or B. The facilities were only producing enough clones to keep maintain the armies and such a purchase would allow the republic to grow the army in the future

Funny you should mention a massive attack with camouflaged droid saboteurs as that happened in one of the books. The minion of a self styled Sith Lord who left Luke's school did exactly that to the Senate and other locations. If I recall rightly he also sabotaged the new line of X-Wings the Republic had purchased.

#AskEck why do medical droids not appear to have more soft material on their figures? When Koth rests on one at 4:17 (in the Saleucami battle breakdown video0, I can’t imagine resting up against a hard, metal robot would be very comfortable, especially after being tortured. Why were these fitted with some sort of padding, or even cloth at the more sensitive parts, like the arms, shoulders, maybe even the palms? I understand the fingers need to be dexterous and mechanically precise, but the arms? The shoulders? Never made any sense to me

I’d imagine that the Kaminoans made more clones, and they were fully grown and ready to go but yet to be purchased by the Republic so placed in Bacta tanks (or something like them), in suspended amination, until they were brought. When the Republic brought more, they were simply reainmated, caught up to speed and assigned to units in the GAR.

I think the reason that the Republic was able to purchase more clones, is because the Kaminoans knew ahead of time that the original wouldn't be enough. They're a business, and they know that they control the only supply to a captive consumer. They were growing those clones the whole time in preparation for exactly this purpose. Plus palpatine definitely wanted this to happen anyway. He needed a very good reason to deregulate the banks for easy take over later, and it helped outnumber the Jedi even more, spreading them further as there were many new divisions to manage. All in all, it was planned from the start, so these clones didn't come out of nowhere
