The GREEKS in John's Gospel were GREEK-SPEAKING JEWS (not Gentiles)

In this episode I give reasons to understand that the “Greeks” mentioned in two places in the Gospel of John (7:35 and 12:21) were not Gentiles but were Greek-speaking Israelites who grew up in the Greek culture outside of the land of Israel.
The Gospel of John is using the word “Greeks/Hellenes” in a cultural and linguistic sense, not in an ethnic sense.
Understanding that the Greeks/Hellenes mentioned in the Gospel of John are Greek-speaking Israelites helps us interpret the Gospel of John better, and illuminates another evidence that the author gives to show that Jesus is the Messiah. As the Messiah, Jesus is the facilitator of the "gathering of the exiles of Israel". As the Gospel of John says it, "the gathering of the children of God who are scattered abroad" (John 11:52).
Gentiles are not in the picture that the Gospel of John paints. The "door of hope" through the Messiah Jesus for Gentiles was not opened by God until a decade or more after the events in the Gospel of John took place.
The Gospel of John was written by a Jew, for Jews. Gentiles can read it and benefit by it in much the same way we can benefit by reading the Book of Exodus. We see that God has done great things for Israel and proclaim "Yahweh (the Father) is God and Jesus is His Messiah".

I enjoyed this video. You connected several dots in my thinking. Question: - At the end of of the video m, you indicated that Jesus was just another Moses. Do you believe he was just making an analogy or metaphor when he said he was the bread of life, or that he was before Abraham, or that he and the Father were one (beyond of one accord, same opinion etc)?

Torah Explorer, I would personally frame that in the same file Cabinet as he was "slain from the foundation of the world". Or did John the Baptist actually "Build a highway", when he came in the "spirit of Elijah"? 🤔 Isaiah 40:3-5 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill made low; the uneven ground will become smooth, and the rugged land a plain. lol I recently had to "kick the bricks" out of both my Indoctrinated Theology & Eschatology when I started taking this type of approach to various aspects of the bible.🙂

This settles so many questions in so many arenas. Just to understand who the first Christians were in that first Century. I love the proof of how it was Jews who carried that powerful redemption message for the first 100 years at least.
