The sad irony of the situation is that if he had actually used this money legitimately, he probably could have ended up an ultra-rich man anyway, but this time from actual payoffs from legitimate businesses AND the Malaysian people wouldn't have been robbed blind. Honestly the celebrities showing up and performing for money makes perfect sense and no that doesn't just mean in the sense of being on stage. These are people who's very skillset is performance art you want them to look and act the part and you have the money to pay that is what you get. Most of them probably see it like a short term improv gig. I read "Billion Dollar Whale". What I found funny was when his money transfers were questioned, he played the race card. He claimed it is Chinese filial piety to send money to his dad, but his dad is wealthy so he refuses and sends it back. And he has to repeat this regularly as a good son.
