You have to talk about the elephant in the room. If he'd spent more time in the gym and less time in the diner, he'd have handled himself properly. He pitched over the top because he was massively top heavy. He couldn't stand up because he was top heavy. Yes, getting older sucks, but failure with a good excuse is not the same as success.

I don't disagree with anything that you two said. I'll add the obvious, which is that his core strength was really lacking and that led to a lot of his problems. I'm not sure I 100% agree that he "gave up." Depending on what is happening off camera and what he knows about where his partner is, I'm not sure that -- once he loses all grip on the gun (at about 0:25 the guy wrenches it free and half stands up) -- it doesn't make more sense for him to lean back and clear the line of fire for his partner. Its hard to tell if that's what he's intending or if he's just cowering. But there is a hypothetical logic in the decision that says "I've lost the battle for the gun, I'm out-of-shape and on my back. I'm not able to readily re-connect/re-grapple before the bad guy brings the gun to bear...my best hope now is my partner. I see he's there (off camera) ready to shoot, so the best thing I can do is to help him by getting clear." Its hard to tell from the footage though and that's a lot of speculation on my part though. Generally, I defer to Mike's read.

I agree 100% that his physical shape played a major factor in how this played out. We didn’t want to just tear him apart in this video, but I don’t think we needed to point out the obvious. As mentioned, other factors played a big role in this outcome, but being in good physical shape would have made a major difference
