EWG is good too but he’s talking about a Wide gap worm hook. More bite than a round bend but less than a EWG.

Good info! I used a 3/0 on a Yum christie critter and that setup made the whole hook and bait roll over. I switched to a 4/0 and that fixed it. But I think those christie critters are made a bit thicker is all.

Hey Tyler, I love to hear all your tips! I have a question about EWG hooks. I'm a pond guy catching lots of 3 pounders, give or take. When I use 3/0 EWG type hooks, I am gut hooking fish a lot more than I expect and want to. I actually changed to almost exclusively using circle hooks to help prevent this (which does seem to help). Have you had this experience with EWGs--hooking a lot of fish deeply and being unable to de-hook them? Not sure what is causing it for me.
@TylersReelFishing2 жыл бұрын
Hmm I really don’t know why that would be happening. It’s also odd that your switch to a circle hook has solve that, because I gut hook way more on a circle hook haha. I would just recommend learning how to unhook a deep hooked bass. There are plenty of videos about it

I do want to try the Lews rods and reels specifically for Texas and C rigs. I would like to stay around $200ish so what size/action rod and reel ratio would you recommend from Lews and I’ll order it to try it out?

Prefer a regular offset worm hook only cause the hook point doesn’t line up with the eye so really good hookup ratio. I use regular size power worms for Texas rigs mostly though so I don’t need the bigger gap of an EWG
@TylersReelFishing2 жыл бұрын
I get that, but the regular offset doesn’t fit half of the bigger worms, creature baits, and swim baits that i mentioned. Many clearance issues
@smoke14PB2 жыл бұрын
@@TylersReelFishing definitely, EWG is much more versatile
