Loni said she feels like she has a right to say those are “white aspects”. That’s not ok. People love to tell biracial people who and what their racial identities should fall under and it’s the most backwards logic ever, unless that person is blatantly disregarding their privilege due to appearance/status relating to a part of their race, having a conversation on which side of their race is to blame for an aspect makes no sense and is very ignorant. I’m glad Jeannie jumped in, Loni you were out of line!

It's like the mentality "Your not black enough". A lot of biracial people experience discrimination due to this. It's not right. Yes they may get more opportunities due to how they look as their skin is lighter but that doesn't make them any less of a person. They may still fully associate with their black side.
@starfire7322

I don’t agree with what she said but Shannon is 1/4 black so how does that give her the right to call herself black? That one drop rule is what’s backwards, stems from slavery and promoted the idea that white = purity and everything else is black. And loni does have a right to say she’s not black especially when a lot of biracial are now playing black roles and essentially erasing us from tv screens in order to cater to white people. We get biracial people representing us as if we face the same struggles. It’s disgusting.

Everyone in the comments saying “white people have said worse”, yeah but those people are wrong. So hold people accountable on both sides not just one side. Loni said it as if it was an insult. @-a7132
@-a7132 4 жыл бұрын
Dina L no it isn’t...biracial is defined as two races and interracial is defined as two or more races...no where does it say biracial is just black and white...it’s just a lot of people consist of being half black half white especially in America and so people have automatically started associating biracial with just those two races because it’s such a common mix...Hapa is a Hawaiian term used to describe people who are mixed race and is not just exclusive to but most commonly referred to as half white half Asian....
@xpgx.
@xpgx. 4 жыл бұрын
@Dina L Biracial in no way shape or form means Euro/African mix. You're talking about generalizing. "Bi" means 2 hence Biracial, a mix of 2 races. Hapa comes from Hawaii and it naturally means anyone of mixed ethnicity. Once again people started to generalize it for Asian mix.
@xpgx.
@xpgx. 4 жыл бұрын

I was so shocked by her reaction & what she said. I think they all were. Both Jeannie & Adrienne tried to make it about the topic & Loni tried to defend her stance that she clearly noticed was wrong. Poor Tamera looked uncomfortable. And it's just as someone else said, about lifting women up instead if tearing them down, that's what they advocate all the time, & this time, Loni majorly disappointed & kind of disrespected what the platform she is on, is all about. Shame on her for what she said.

I’m a confident women who believes women should be honest with each other and uplift one another, to make a business out of that seems really opportunistic and I happen to associate those traits with white women, but I admit it was a bad joke and I’m sorry.” Boom. And people would have been like “damn... I see you.” 👀
@whatdidido9145
@whatdidido9145 4 жыл бұрын
The thing is , associating particular traits with an entire race of people is just backward and a way of thinking that creates prejudice and stereotypes. As for exploiting , there are many things people can't do themselves and need help for and I think every service should have a price to create value for it. So charging for a service isn't exploitative in the least. People can be good , bad , confident , insecure and many other qualties similar or different and race is one of the least common denominators for them. So bottom line , what Loni said was plain ignorant and no matter how she would've phrased it , it still wouldn't come off any better.

What did I do? I’m Mexican American, there are some things that people will associate with me because of that. Is it racist? Sometimes. Most times, they’re right. Have white people been aggressively exploitive and opportunistic at the most inappropriate times?? Some of them, sometimes. But no, your right, not all the time. And not EVERY white person. But she’s an American black women who’s well into her 40’s. She was born in ‘71, do you really think she cares what YOU think is appropriate. She’s been threw and seen some shit. @@sammmuela6759 I never once mentioned racism madam. My statement clearly implies that I am well aware of the terms I use . As I said, stereotypes may be true or false , but the assocuation of particular traits to a race sure does create them . People can be many things and it doesn't need to be a result of their race. My argument mainly focused on the use of the word "exploitation" and the unnecessary negative connotations attached to it. Every job deserves to have a price and rightly so. Helping someone do something they tgemeselves can't doesn't mean taking advantage of them.

also, it was her choice to let Shan guide her on the date. Loni has to understand that not every approach is similar and that this is not an absurd approach either. If you require help, seek it. If you're capable on your own, don't.

tamara seems like the peace maker in the friend group. if i was her i would've been the same, not because i didn't care but because i know the ignorance of her thought goes beyond them having that one conversation on live t.v. some people are just hard-headed and loni (as she let us know here) is DEF this type of person and tamara has to know this so she probably decided to not push too hard.

It was a joke hush
@christinaallene123
@christinaallene123 4 жыл бұрын
@@JalahMayit was meant to be a harmless joke that went very wrong and instead of backing up and apologizing as soon as someone corrected her and said she isn't white, Loni dug herself in deeper and got hella defensive. I think the ladies of the real are meant to contrast shows like The View with how confrontational they are on there by being a lot more patient and careful not to get too heated and diffuse conversations as they begin. I believe this is why Tamera didn't say anything is because Loni was clearly getting very defensive and digging herself into a hole so she decided to defend her initial comment which was "white people are weird and she does this because she's white and therefore weird" so Tamera chose to oppose that statement rather than the obvious issue of assuming something about someone based on their race because you always run the risk of being incorrect and then very offensive. You could tell Jeannie was offended by Loni's statements about her being "not all the way black" but because of the intention of the show, she wasn't able to confront the ignorance. Loni has had many chances to apologize but has just acted in defensiveness unfortunately. it was inappropriate of her entirely. she alluded in an earlier episode when discussing why black women are statistically less likely to date outside their race that in being in an interracial relationship currently, she's had a lot of backlash for dating a white man of people accusing her of betrayal to her blackness or calling her 'less black' for being open to dating someone white. I wonder if her comments on this episode were a reflection of her current identity dilemma of not knowing where she fits in now that being are rejecting her in her own race. so maybe she tried to criticize white people to fit it more with the black community? something to think about. she really should just quit making race jokes altogether no matter how light or harmless.
