I can't believe the literal epidemic of children that need to catch some hands 😂 I'm 27 & have three children, all girls (7,5,3) & I work so hard to keep it real & TEACH them how to carry themselves as young ladies. I don't live by the "do as I say not as I do" because that's borderline psychotic in my opinion. Do I believe in abuse? Absolutely not Do I believe in situational beat downs? .... Maybe 💀

@@keylimepxe lmfao I swear, I will never end up on a show like Maury taking about "I'm afraid of my 12 year old because they hit me blah blah blah" That's where the Situational beat down comes in 😂 Otherwise, despite the young ages of my daughters, we literally just talk to one another. I'm careful not to cross the line of where some parents are more of a friend but in a toxic way where there is no authority figure or respect. If I ask my daughters to do something & they don't want to, I ask why & I hear them out then they hear me out & once I tell them why, they have had no problem with doing whatever it is asked. I'm not a strict prude, so maybe that's why it works out along with me treating them as individuals with agency. I believe a major issue is parents playing these weird lying games with their kids & treating them like they aren't as mentally & emotionally capable as they actually are. On top of that, the weird cognitive dissonance of what I said before about the do as I say not as I do AND the blatant disrespect they dish out to the children. It's causing these kinds of issues that bleed on to the general public. It's so unfortunate. I wouldn't have dreamed of behaving the way we are seeing children of TEN behaving in stores... I honestly forsee situational violence when these children get older but it's only because their parents are setting them up for failure. Somebody at some point isn't going to put up with this behavior as they get closer to adulthood or even after they become of age. 💀

I work at a Crystal store and I’ve literally had to tell kids off for running around and picking up products and then rolling it on the floor while their mother stands there. I told a little girl off once for trying to put one in her mouth while her mother wasn’t looking and she just started crying and her mother didn’t do anything , I feel like parents want babies but then babies grow into kids and then they just give up and kind of go. Oh I have to actually raise it now.

I don't use drunk elephant for one, and everything I mentioned above is my extent of makeup. Kids younger than me playing with foundation is strange because at this age, youthful skin might get hurt using those. I genuinely don't understand WHY that isn't whats happening - I can not fathom how the company isn't enabling policies to not allow them in without an adult. I might be a little crazy, but in this regard I swear its not my insanity, I remember stores used to do those kinds of policies ALL the time and it's never been deemed illegal or a violation/discrimination against anyone. There's a shop by my mom's house that to this day has policies that large purses aren't even allowed inside the store and have to be left at the register if you want to shop.

Of course it's mainly the parents, and influencers causing this. However I'm also quite disappointed in Sephora in the states. Why isn't the store saying "No. You can't do that"? Why isn't security in the malls throwing these children out for vandalism? Why aren't the stores locking these (expensive) products and testers behind cabinets until these children learn how to behave?!

Again not trying to be mean at all, i just like trying to help others who may struggle with acne. I would also suggest cetaphil for cleanser and moisterizer as its pretty inexpensive but works sooooo well. You dont have to listen to me by any means but if it means anything you can lhk that acne doesnt define her worth or beauty, its very normal and theres so many people who will back her up.

I think Claire's should use this opportunity to market towards this demographic, adding in skincare thats more age appropriate such as a basic moisturizer with a cute fruity label on it for the scent. More clear and glitter glosses, and body sprays that appeal to this age group with fruity names, pretty colors and busy labels. Sephora is supposed to be for an older demographic and it's crazy to think two years ago I never saw a child unless it was someone's kid waiting annoyed around their mother to get out of shop. Times are changing but I don't think they need to put the parents through hell for a 50 dollar product they don't understand fully or that their mother can't even justify the price to buy for themselves. A cheaper, cuter more age appropriate alternative at Sanrio or Claires should be their go to.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? Young people please, you don't need to "grow fast", just enjoy the different stages of life. There's time for everything in life, trust me, don't screw your childhood because it'll never come back. And trust me too when I tell you that at 16, 17 even 19 you're still mentally a child in many ways. 😢😢😢 Everything is so sad my god...

So I've occasionally tried out eyeshadow or a shade of foundation on the back of my hand, while I ,in real life would in my age never use those. I have literally only been using Mascara for about half a year now and ONLY because my mother let me. I asked. She Thought about it. And then she allowed it to me and the next day after work gave me my first tube of mascara. I don't even have that much of skincare. I have something because of my acne and one for my dry skin.

I experienced this last summer. I’m in my early 30s. Went into a Sephora with a friend who was visiting from another country, and it was PACKED with kids (probably because it was summer vacation). I had no idea what was going on, but my friend was looking for a new foundation and I wanted to show her Fenty because she’d never seen it in person, so decided to go ahead and look for it through the sea of children. Almost all the testers were gone (now I see why), and we couldn’t get someone to help us figure out her shade the 20 mins we tried because they were too busy dealing with actual 11-year-olds. Eventually we went to the perfume section (the only child free space) and the employee there recommended we go to the Sephora in the super high end mall in my city because it would be more chill. We left and my friend went the next day (I was at work) and said it was a much better experience. Not only are these kids making a mess out of the store, but they can cause said stores to lose paying customers with their antics.

At the store I work at, we started putting only 1 or 2 products out for certain brands and keeping the rest behind the register or in the back room because we kept finding completely empty displays minutes after we filled them... and when the cameras would get checked, it would be middle or high schoolers shoving all the products in their bags. This was basically a daily occurrence for a long time before we got better security and started tracking them down and getting them charged with theft, but it still happens a lot. It's also sad because we get a lot of paying customers thinking we're out of stock and asking where the products all are. But if we put them all out, they would be stolen by kids by the end of the day and we WOULD be out of stock. We made that mistake before.

Yes, it *is* on parents to a point, because no matter how good a parent you can be, no matter how much you drill proper etiquette and morals into your kid's head, your child will act how they wish outside of your watch. Especially pre-teens. All those hormones and new societal pressures they endure while trying to figure themselves out. Some of my own friends at the time were a testament to that since some of them would act out when we were on our own when I knew damn well their parents were present in their lives (not including usual pre-teen/teen angst of "ugh my parents suck"). Hell, one friend that was well-behaved in public was actually abused to hell and back at home because she loved HP, and her mother literally beat her with a bible and called her a witch! You would think she would have been one to act out! I don't know what could actually even begin to fix this problem of Gen Alpha/Young Gen Z kids acting like it's Lord of the Flies out here beyond banning TikTok as a platform and keeping them off of social media. It's like a virus rotting their little impressionable brains. Let's not even get into the volatile political climate they are growing up in. 10 years old and just being dropped off at the mall??? I wasn't allowed in the mall by myself until I was 15 (but then again my parents were kind of strict). I know of at least 2 Sephora stores in my area that have put signs that say things like "All Minors Must Be Accompanied By An Adult" because of the sheer destruction these kids leave behind! Edit since II was on mobile before: Seeing all those testers being destroyed makes my blood boil! Seeing all those bronzers and blushes with the nail line down the middle defintely makes me think that they were copying a tiktok influencer who does that to their own products. This all reminds of an incident that happened when I worked at Bath & Body Works. Girls would just walk in, go to the Warm Vanilla Sugar, spray it all over themselves, and then walk out like it was their own room. Thing is, not all of them would use the tester! When an object is made into a tester, you have to do all sorts of steps to catalogue it as such. One time a group of girls came in, took the non-testers, and started spraying them. The manager was fed up at that point because that was product lost (3 spray bottles were used at $20 each, so that was $60 of product lost). She asked if the girls were paying for it and they said no. When asked why they didn't just used the tester, they said it was because they wanted to use something new/fresh. When asked that they pay for the product they wasted, they tried to bolt but security had been called already. Their parents were MORTIFIED when they were called. One Dad basically shoved the spray in his daughters hand and said if she didn't used it everyday until the last drop was gone that she was never going out anywhere without BOTH her parents at her side at all times until she turned 18.

Sephora can easily stop this by making a store policy no one under 16 without a guardian. What I'm most shocked by is parents leaving 10yr olds in a mall ALL ALONE! WHERE ARE THE PARENTS?!?! They know there's creeps everywhere right? So many kids go missing n they just drop them off at the mall? What if there's a shooter? And ur not there to protect them? I dunno my daughter is 11 n yes she loves to play with my makeup n skin Care. But I will say she does treat it with respect. She loves to try my face masks n stuff. N I don't mind because she acts right. And I would NEVER leave her alone in the mall no way. But that's just me. The kids act like that because the parents aren't being parents. I bet you they all have parents who are their "friends" n probably never punish them. I'm friends with my daughter but I'm her mother first. Come on PARENTS step up n be a real parent. If I ever found out my daughter went in a store and was acting like an animal she'd be in so much trouble.

Or a 4 year old into a jeweller and play marbles with pearl necklaces. Or allow 12 year olds into night clubs. Well, none of that is allowed, now is it? And you know why? Because it's either forbidden or those ages simply have no reason to be there. Just like at freakin Sephora where 10 year old with their $10 pocket money have no damn purpose. Being little shits that only destroy products for some ridiculous "challenge", and are a flat out nuisance to shoppers and employees alike is NOT a good reason for them to be there. Damn I miss those days where parents would bring children into this world to raise them as respectable human beings. Children, because that is what a 10 year old is, should play with slime from the toy store, not serums from Sephora.

As a 12-year-old, I think it's crazy how 10-year-olds ruin Sephora. I recently went to one with my grandma and avoided the skin care section because I have the skincare I need (Cleaner, Moisture, Water). I went to Rare Beauty section to try the blush and I remember waiting for a group of kids to stop playing with the blush. I tested the blush properly by putting a little dot on the back of my hand and found the one I wanted. I put this all back in the right way and mess-free. I got other things too, but Druck Elephant and other brands need to be in a separate kid-free zone. Edit: Thanks for the likes. My mom let me get some make-up if I spent my own money on it when I was 11. I started at Target and I got some eyeshadow. Then there were more times when I got more make-up. Then my grandma asked for what I wanted for Christmas/b-day (my Christmas and birthday are close to each other). I said Sephora gift card because I wanted some good quality makeup. I got an $100 gift card. I thought I was only getting $50. Then a few weeks after Christmas, I went to Sephora with my Grandma to spend time with her and get good quality make-up.

@@unfortunatelyiamsanehalf of my generation is spending every weekend partying with friends at home with kids present, and act exactly the same way. They bully the F*CK out of their children under guise of lovingly teasing. Zero emotional regulation skills. That is NOT because of lack of “help”. It’s not hard to reprimand a child and teach them humility and respect by using consequences to actions and following through. It’s laziness. Call it what it is. iPad/screens raised our babies. I’m ashamed it took this long to for myself to actually see it for what it is. If we’re blaming millennials… Blame, Gen X who made us. Then, blame baby boomers who made gen x. Get it? It’s a division tactic. Gender vs gender. Generation vs generation. Heterosexuality vs LGBTQ. Keep us lower folks too engaged with in fighting to see that our own country is turning into a modern day type Nazi Germany. Book burnings, genocides, removing reproductive rights for women. Until the bigger picture is addressed? It’s not gonna change. Again, it’s NOT a generation problem. It’s this gross ‘dog eat dog’ mentality that the government is spewing out. That media is spewing out. Products. Spirituality. All plans set in motion by the powers that be… destroying social etiquette and basic human decency. That’s how you gain and stay in control. Infighting. We’re too busy fighting about this crap on line that we’re doing absolutely nothing to fix the REAL issues. 95% of us can’t even shop at Sephora because we can barely rent. Or get food. If we want change? We need to address the real issue. Evil leaders. Cut the head off the snake, the body will follow. It’s not a millennial vs gen x vs baby boomer argument. It’s the fact that family and faith is becoming last, self and division is strictly what’s put first. Why? Money. Power. Control. To keep us in this loop of 1% and poverty.. altering our constitution, we are losing our freedoms, and the majority are too busy fighting to not seeing it.

#1. These parents letting their 10 yrs olds loose unattended should be held responsible for the damages their little brats cause. As a Mom, I would be mortified to leave a 10 yr old at a mall like she was grown! Sephora should put Do Not leave Children Unattended signage up and when it happens next, call security on them and security can call their “parents” and threaten them with vandalism charges. Bet it’d stop then!

i'm 13. when i was 11ish, my MOM took me to a sephora for the first time. she guided me through using the testers respectfully, choosing the right shade for my skin tone, the fact i DONT need $100 serums, etc. i got a foundation that i used as a concealer and a lipstick, but she would NEVER let me go alone at that age, and i don't think she'd let me go without an adult now even with my friends. it all goes back to the parents. there's nothing wrong with younger teenagers using makeup as long as you teach them how to use it responsibly.

I'm 13 too and my mom took me into Sephora at a similar age. Honestly she forced me in there. It was kind of just a drag along in a mall spree. She was getting some lotion recommended for me by her friend because they said my skin was dry. I didn't have much to do so I went around, cried to myself, looked at the different weird containers and cool models, and took a little eye brush tester tool thing. I was honestly too disgusted to use testers so idk how these kids see past that. Idk why I turned that into a story that added no use

There’s nothing wrong with an iPad. It’s all social media. My daughter uses her iPad for homework sometimes. For math, and language arts. But my kiddos have no social media. My eight year likes blush, and that’s it. But she knows she has to earn it by grades, her chores, and attitude. And how well her test scores were that week. If one of those is not the greatest, she’s gets a make your own sundae on Fri. For dinner. Yeah, yeah, I don’t care about sugar. She worked hard for it.
