I've posted this on like 50 different videos but what made Kobe's 2010 run was so impressive was the broken finger, and severe knee injury he was playing with, following the 2010 Finals he had his 3rd right knee surgery and since his cartilage was mostly gone his knee was described as almost bone on bone. In 2008 Kobe did come up short in Games 4 and 6, so on top of the 2004 Finals disaster his legacy would be a lot more criticized but Lakers were an overmatched team. 2010 was a complicated series. Kobe despite playing through injuries averaged 29.5 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 4.2 apg, 2.3 spg on 55.7% ts in the first six games, which given how good the Celtics defense was in those playoffs and they were really zoned in trying to stop Kobe it as really impressive. His 6-24 shooting really damaged his efficiency but he did grab 15 boards and have an impressive drtg of 93. One of the big reasons Lakers won was cause they had Kobe often guard Rondo, he didn't shut him down but did a better job than two other elite defensive teams: the Cavs and Magic Kendrick Perkins going down in G6 was a bad break for the Celtics. But on the flip side Andrew Bynum went down early in G4. Now obviously Bynum came back for the last 3 games but wasn't as effective. G1-3 he averaged 13.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 2.7 bpg on 52% fg G4-7 he averaged 3 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.5 bpg on 35% fg At least Lakers still had Bynum unlike in 2008 but the severely cut production didn't help the Lakers who thankfully still had Odom, the rest of the bench was subpar

That Magic team is disgustingly underrated. They faced 3 60+ win teams that postseason. They had to take out a 62 win team in the semifinals just to make the conference finals where they were rewarded with a 66 win team and after all that, they get rewarded with yet another team 60+ win team in the Lakers.

It was a weak run with multiple injuries, the WC was so weak that the team that got better who was in the WCF to play against Golden State wasn’t even in the playoffs, the nuggets finally where healthy and all of a sudden won a championship and somehow it’s only Curry’s 1 FMVP? He needs to prove he can actually win a ring vs healthy teams, not 1 ring he has has been won without major injuries to important teams during his “runs”

@@Mikeaj-un6mf What other year should Kobe have won? 06 was his best offensively and without Kobe that team doesn't even win 15 games, the only reason he finished so low was because of Colorado though LeBron and Dirk you could argue also deserved it over Nash. 03 was one of Kobe's best and he was playing with prime Shaq and had a better season too! But over Duncan whose Spurs finished with a much higher record? Don't think so. 09 is also a great season but the winner, LeBron in this case, finished with a higher record.

AD hits the big shot to save his legacy in the bubble, Kyrie hit the big shot in Cleveland and Ray Allen in Miami. RIP Kobe but that championship Lakers team then got 0-4 swept by Mavericks the next year in the second round playoff....yes, he rolled his ankle in game 4 of the first round, but if you want to 'body shaming' LB while praising Mamba mentality, then there is no excuses

Nobody who is debating in good faith would diss LeBron for playing through the torn tendon in his foot this past season.

Excuses. Dallas was better and they spanked the Lakers. Dallas deserved their championship. LA lost Kobe missed a shot in game 1 and game 3 LA choked. Game 4 they quit losing by 36pts

@@melvynsngltn27 As a Lakers fan 11 is my greatest disappointment that I saw live. Not only do we get swept but we also get swept when it's Phil Jackson's last season before retirement. The team gave up pure and simple and for a long time I've wondered how they were so mentally fragile after going to the finals three times in a row.

@CrazyxEnigma I agree I was also disappointed. Dallas was good but for the team to play like that in Phil Jackson's last game 🤦

Like even in the 2010 NBA Finals, Pau Gasol played just as well as Kobe. ORTG: Gasol: 122 Kobe: 108 DRTG: Gasol: 101 Kobe: 99 Kobe's stat line 29/8/4. Gasol stat line 19/12/4 Yes Kobe scored more points but he did it on bad efficiency. Gasol basically shot his TS% career average in the finals. Kobe also nearly took TWICE as many shots as the 2nd scorer (Gasol 160 to 79). The 2010 title is as much Gasol as it is Bryant.

Hell even in 2009: ORTG: Gasol 132 Kobe 111 DRTG: Gasol 99 Kobe 100 TS% Gasol 64.7% (nearly 10% higher than his career) Kobe 52.5% (2.5% lower than his career) Also Kobe shot over TWICE as many as Gasol.

Kobe Bryant is the most over-rated player in NBA history. If he wasn't repping the purple/gold and had Shaq as his teammate early on, he would just be another streaking shoot-up guard that puts up decent numbers on tons of stats (ala Carmelo Anthony).
