I dont dislike people personally who get plastic surgery, but as a girl, seeing more and more women change their bodies with plastic surgery, it all feels like a reminder that i shouldnt work on my self esteem but rather just use surgery to fix my body image problems. It all feels very glamorized too, people pretending like they loved themselves just fine before and that surgeries make them feel even better. People dont talk about how majority of those who get plastic surgery do it because they actually hate the way they look and are unsatisfied with themselves naturally.

It also doesn’t help that people often tout their plastic surgery as natural, so many people (especially young people) become insecure with their bodies and turn to plastic surgery to remedy it. There’s nothing wrong with plastic surgery inherently but our current culture is one that is mixing psychological issues (body dysmorphia, addiction, etc.) with plastic surgery.

Also, imagine how weird the kardashian kids are gonna feel, growing up, looking NOTHING like their mothers. When i'm insecure about a feature of myself, i remember that my mom has the same and i find her very beautiful, so its a reminder that the insecurity is all in my head. Must feel so awful to look at something you dislike about yourself, to then find out your mom had the same thing, but had surgery to "fix it" 💔

There are certain "addiction replacements" that people can use and be totally fine with though. Some people get addicted to an incredibly healthy lifestyle working out and eating healthy. Weed got me to stop drinking so heavily which has definitely helped my life. Plastic surgery can definitely hurt her in the long run though, especially if it starts messing with her organs and whatnot.

My general rule of thumb when it comes to plastic surgery or any kind of body mod is your body, your choice. The problem here is that she's abusing plastic surgery to cope with psychological pain/problems that aren't going to go away, so she's setting herself up on another unhealthy cycle. She needs to deal with what's going on in her head before she winds up destroying her body.

The most healthy way to deal with this is to avoid addictive things all together. It takes a lot of work though, especially when you are surrounded by people who can do the things you can do in moderation. It's not a good feeling being the only sober person in the room and you know you can't join in because you WILL take it too far and you won't be able to stop. It's like being the designated driver but for life. You can become addicted to anything that give you an endorphin rush, stimulants, shopping, praise, porn, sex, exercise and even animals. People will become addicted to owning pets and end up way over their head with the mini zoos they aquire. It's just a bi-product consumerism.

I actually really wanted to get cosmetic surgery at one point because the muscles in the last two digits on both of my hands don't connect to the right spot so they always look bent and it makes doing some things difficult and I just basically can't wear gloves. I had a consultation with a specialist to talk about it and, really, even after hearing that it's 50/50 that it will work but with a high chance of losing feeling in my hands, I still kind of want it. How you feel about your appearance can fuck you up
