Kyle is an excellent teacher. I’ve watched a lot of demos and he gives out more helpful and comprehensive information than most. One very important piece of advice he recommends is not to choose just a pretty scene. Much better to use a very simple view or subject and enhance it. It took a while for that to register in my paintings.

You are the first person I have heard advise new painters to use quality materials. I totally agree. If you are a beginner and are trying to replicate something you have seen in another painting, if you are using cheap paints you don’t know if the reason you can’t do it is your lack of skill or the paint not being able to achieve the effect. With quality paints you remove that variable. It’s you!

Hi Kyle. Just discovered your beginner #1 video, very informative. Like the painting big shapes with paper towels. You show how a painting can develop by applying broad strokes from the beginning. I know I get to wrapped up in getting it to look like a finished painting with to much detail right off the bat. Also like the suggestion of picking a simple subject. You're being very generous with your time and knowledge. Thank you.

I think it usually dries enough that it doesn't come up with the new stuff. If it does just adds a little bit of texture and it's never really been a problem. experiment with it and you might find that you want to clean your palette completely after each time 🎨👍😁

hey Kyle can you do this technique of rubbing in with a towel for portraits and still lifes? superb video, also, are the bright primaries your warm version of primaries vs the earths which are the cooler ones? or would i have two versions of 'bright' primaries warm/cool plus those 3 earth tones?
