The hebrews (jews) basically sentenced Jesus to death AFTER he threw the money changers out of the temple. Jesus was sold out by the apostle Judas for 30 pieces of silver and Pontius Pilate (the ruler at the the time) brought Jesus and another man named Barabbas (who was a notorious thief and convicted of murder) in front of the crowd of hebrews and asked them "Which man shall I set free?" and they all shouted"Barabbas!" The jews let a convicted murder & thief go free in order to crucify Jesus for "blasphemy" (for teaching the truth) and for messing with their money in the temple. - I'm a Confirmed Catholic & studied the Bible for 12 years.

Here’s the thing: God tells us that if we earnestly search for him with a humble heart, we will find him. Have u done that? Everyone has a built-in God given conscience. All religions tell us to be kind, generous, helpful, compassionate, etc.. and most people try to act that way. But, let’s face it, no matter how many good things we do, we also do bad stuff too. We ALL are petty, or lustful, or greedy, or power hungry, or hedonistic, or disrespectful, or jealous, or envious, or selfish, or dishonest, or vengeful, hold grudges, or are overly prideful, etc. So, compared to the pure sinless, holy glory of almighty God, how do we look? Disgusting, sinful, corrupt, dishonorable, disgraceful, UNWORTHY. NONE OF US deserve to even be in his presence much less to live with him in the unspoiled magnificent beauty of Heaven. Basically, sin cannot enter Heaven, and we are all covered in it. But God knew that when he gave us free will, we would sin… and yet he loves us anyway (even though we are sinners) and wants ALL of us to go to Heaven. So what was the solution? God the Father came up with a plan and Jesus (God the Son) agreed to it. He willingly allowed himself to be betrayed, arrested, beaten, slapped, stripped, humiliated, spat on, whipped, nailed to a cross, and suffered a slow, horrible, agonizing death (while people mocked him) to pay the price for our sins. That’s why he sacrificed himself… to SAVE ALL of us. He was our scapegoat, our whipping boy. He was willing to endure all that because he loves EACH ONE OF US that much. And when he died, all our sins (past, present & future) were forgiven. He essentially bought our “ticket to Heaven” with his blood. He holds that ticket out to EACH ONE OF US saying “I love u. I died to save u. Please accept my gift to u. All u have to do is put your faith and trust in me and follow me. Will u do that?” This is a heart issue. He wants us to open our heart to him and see the love he has for us. Sure, we are free to REJECT Jesus’ sacrifice if we want; we have free will. But think of it this way: Let’s say a first responder or a soldier willingly sacrificed himself and died so that he could save a bunch of other people… How would his father feel? He would be so sad and yet so proud of him as well. What a hero! But how would that father feel if some of the people that his son saved walked up to him and said “That’s BS! I don’t believe that he sacrificed himself… that’s just a dumb story”…. Or “That was stupid! I didn’t need his sacrifice. I am able to save myself.” Wow. Wouldn’t that be extremely insulting & ungrateful? Would that father want to give them a hug and welcome them into his home? Probably not.

@@IronPsyde there are over 5200 pieces of manuscript all agreeing to an infinitesimal degree that Jesus lived, led a sinless life, crucified and rose again after 3 days. It’s recorded that he appeared to over 500 people after he rose from the grave. Jesus and his actions are considered historical events by both secular and religious scholars. Also, the explosion of Christianity is more evidence. There is a great book called “the case for Christ” by Lee Strobel that goes over a lot of the evidence for Jesus. Nothing comes close to the reliability of Jesus Christ. The only reason people deny Jesus is because they don’t want to do research into history or don’t want to admit God exists. If you honestly search for the truth and you will find it.

Historians agree that Jesus existed, he was a religious leader in his lifetime with many followers, and that he was crucified despite not really committing any crime. Atheists should ponder that last detail, why they would crucify a peaceful person, at the least it parallels the story of Socrates. Atheists should consider also that Jesus is the most popular philosopher of all time, that his philosophy fueled geniuses like Newton and Bach as well as centuries of generations of men who built the modern world. The level of disrespect in these comments is unwarranted.

Here are some 10 discoveries related to Jesus. 1. Nazareth Inscription: The Nazareth Inscription - a first-century Imperial edict pronouncing the death penalty for anyone caught stealing bodies from tombs. The Nazareth Inscription is an edict from Caesar inscribed on a marble slab which imposes a death penalty in Israel for anyone caught moving bodies from family tombs, and specifically “sepulcher-sealing tombs,” such as the one Jesus was buried in.The Greek inscription likely dates to the reign of Claudius (41-54 AD), and appears to be directed at a Jewish audience. 2. Tomb of Jesus in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre: While it doesn’t look much like a tomb anymore, this edicule surrounds the remains of the purported tomb of Jesus within the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Archaeological research has demonstrated that this site was a Jewish cemetery in an ancient limestone quarry outside the walls of Jerusalem at the time of Jesus’s death. This aligns with the biblical description of the tomb in which Jesus was laid being outside the city walls (Mt 27:39, Heb 13:12). 3. Heel Bone of the Crucified Man: A replica of the heel bone of the crucified man in the Israel Museum. There is ample literary evidence for Roman crucifixions (ie. Josephus, Plautus, Senneca). Archaeological evidence for Roman crucifixion was unearthed in 1968. That year, a construction crew accidentally dug up several tombs in northeast Jerusalem. Inside the tombs were several ossuaries, including one inscribed with the name Jehohanan (Yehohanan), which contained skeletal remains of an adult male, including his heel bone with a nail still embedded in it. The anthropologist who examined the remains determined that Jehohanan had been in his twenties when he was crucified in the first century (ca. AD 7-66).Further study has revealed that Jehohanan had likely been crucified with a leg on either side of the cross and the nail driven in sideways through his heel. 4. The Pilate Stone: The Pilate Stone confirms that Pontius Pilate was Prefect of Judea. All four gospels declare that the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate, sentenced Jesus to death by crucifixion. While his historicity has never really been in doubt - he’s mentioned by ancient writers, such as Josephus, Tacitus and Philo, in addition to the gospel accounts - archaeological evidence for his existence was unearthed at Caesarea Maritima in 1961. Excavations near the amphitheater revealed a limestone block inscribed with a dedication to Tiberius Caesar from “Pontius Pilate, Prefect of Judea.Rings like this were common among Roman soldiers, and since the name Pilate is uncommon, many believe the ring was once the property of Pontius Pilate or one of his servants. The Pilate Stone and the Pilate Ring provide archaeological evidence for the Roman Prefect, Pontius Pilate, who handed Jesus over to be crucified. 5. The Caiaphas Ossuary: The ossuary of Caiaphas, the high priest who oversaw the trial of Jesus. The bones of a 60-year old man were found in it.Caiaphas was the high priest who presided over the trial of Jesus according to the gospels (Mt 26:3, 57; Lk 3:2; Jn 11:49). The ancient historian, Josephus, records that Caiaphas’s full name was Joseph Caiaphas. It appears that he was known primarily by his family name, Caiaphas, in the same way that many of the sons of Herod were simply known as Herod (ie. Herod Antipas, Herod Archelaus, etc).Archaeologists were called in and discovered a variety of ossuaries (bone boxes used in the first-century), including an ornate one that was inscribed with the name “Joseph son of Caiaphas.” Inside were the bones six people, including those of a 60-year-old man which scholars believe are the remains of Caiaphas himself. 6. The Temple in Jerusalem - Steps, Signs and Stones: The gospels record that Jesus and his disciples spent considerable time at the Temple in Jerusalem. Several archaeological discoveries relate to the Jewish Temple from the first century. A 61-meter wide flight of stairs led to the main entrances to the Temple complex; the easternmost portion of this staircase has been unearthed with alternating short and long steps. Jesus likely used these southern steps many times. The Temple Warning Inscription in the Istanbul Archaeological Museum. Trace amounts of red paint have been found within the letters indicating that the inscription once stood out in bright red.In 1871, a limestone slab with a seven-line warning inscription was discovered - the very one described by Josephus. Jesus and his disciples would have walked past these warning inscriptions many times. Finally, a Herodian street with shops along the side of it has been unearthed along the southern end of the Western Wall. The street itself is buckled from the huge stones, which still lie were they fell when the Roman soldiers threw them down from the Temple Mount in AD 70.The debris is a vivid reminder of Jesus’s prophecy that the beautiful stones of the temple buildings would be thrown down (Mt 24:2). 7. Jacob’s Well: Jesus met a Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well near Sychar, and revealed to her that he was the Messiah (Jn 4:25-26). Today, an ancient well located at the foot of Mt. Gerizim (Jn 4:20) just south of the village of Askar (ancient Sychar) is unanimously identified as Jacob’s Well by all traditions - Jewish, Samaritan, Christian and Muslim. Today, a Greek Orthodox church stands over the well. While many modern tourist sites in Israel are of dubious authenticity, nearly all scholars agree is the actual location of Jacob’s Well where Jesus met the Samaritan woman and offered her “living water” (Jn 4:10). 8. Pool of Siloam: In John 9 Jesus healed a blind man by putting mud on his eyes and having him go wash in the Pool of Siloam. Many tourists have seen the famous Byzantine “Pool of Siloam” in Jerusalem, the one which the Empress Eudocia built in the 5th century to commemorate the miracle. It is located at the end of Hezekiah’s Tunnel, the aqueduct that brings water from the Gihon Spring into the city. In 2004, the Pool of Siloam from the first-century was accidentally discovered during repairs a drainage system. Archaeologists Eli Shukron and Ronny Reich were called in to excavate and unearthed a large pool that had at least 20 steps leading down from the street level into the pool. Pottery from one end of the pool was used to date it to the First-Century AD. Given that it was in the exact location that scholars had long believed the actual Pool of Siloam to be - only 70 meters from the Byzantine pool - and that it dated to the time of Jesus, it was identified as the actual Pool of Siloam where the blind man had washed to receive healing. 9. Synagogues: The remains of the synagogue at Magdala, likley the hometown of Mary Magdalene Matthew records that Jesus “went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom” (Mt 4:23) and Luke states that Jesus’s custom was to go to the synagogues on the Sabbath (Lk 4:16). While some scholars have suggested the synagogue did not arise until after the destruction of the temple in AD 70, and that the references to synagogues in the gospels are anachronistic, archaeology has proven otherwise. To date the remains of ten synagogues dating to before AD 70 have been unearthed in Israel, including at Capernaum, Gamla, The Herodium, Jericho, Magdala, Masada, Modi’in, Qiryat Sefer, Beth Shemesh, and H. et-Tuwani. In addition to the remains of actual synagogue structures, there is the famous Theodotus Inscription, which states that Theodotus built a synagogue in Jerusalem for the “reading of the Torah and teaching of the commandments.”The archaeological record both affirms the historical descriptions of the synagogues in the gospels and helps us understand Jesus’ role as a teacher within first-century Judaism. 10. The anti Christian graffito from 1,970 yrs ago: It is said to be the earliest and only known image of the Crucifixion - a depiction of human-like figure with the head of a donkey nailed to a cross.was etched into a plaster wall of an imperial training school for ancient Roman slaves between 50AD and 250AD. Beneath the cross is ancient Greek text that reads, 'Alexamenos worships God,' as a way to mock an individual in the drawing who appears to be dressed like a slave. The ancient graffiti was done during a time that Christianity was frowned upon by Romans who practiced what they called paganism. Archaeologists discovered the image in 1857 on the wall of a building located on Rome's Palatine Hill, but the anti-Christian graffiti was brought to light by archeologist Ticia Verveer. At the time, it was said Romans depicted Jesus as a donkey as a way of insulting the faith. Tertullian, a Christian theologian who lived from 160AD to 225AD, wrote of how both Christians and Jews were ridiculed by Romans for worshiping a donkey. In the New Testament (Mark 11:1-11) it is told that as Jesus approached the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples to a nearby village to fetch him a donkey, or exactly an Onager or wild donkey. Upon their return, Jesus rode the donkey into Jerusalem, where he was met by cheering crowds.

Some people have suggested that the Bible has changed over time. However, I believe the following view below concluding that it has barely changed over the centuries, is fairly compelling. When they discovered the extremely well preserved Dead Sea Scrolls around 1950, which was written from before the time of Jesus Christ, it provided extremely strong evidence that our current Old Testament version is almost identical to the version written around 200 BC and preserved for over 2,000 years ago. This suggests that they held these sacred texts in very high regard and maintaining their integrity was paramount. Another view that helps me believe the Bible is true is found in the Gospels. It is an incredible story to read Jesus was crucified and then rose from the dead, written by people who some may say were more simple (not as smart) than us in the 21st century. Most people over look two striking facts in this crucifixion story. Have you ever wondered why the writer included two facts that did not make sense for a 'simpleton making up a story' some 2,000 years ago? Put another way, why would someone 2000 years ago put such strange details in the story if they were making it up? Strange fact 1 To include that Jesus sweat blood is strange. However this is an actual medical condition called Hematohidrosis and occurs when an individual is suffering an extreme level of stress. Strange fact 2 Another strange fact the writer included was when the soldier pierced Jesus side with a lance, out came blood and water. There is a pericardial membrane surrounding the heart and the fluid is like water- hence out came blood and water. Lastly, we should appreciate that when anyone has had an encounter like the Apostles did, their past lives (what they did before they met Jesus) became somewhat irrelevant. What is now foremost in their mind is to tell everyone about Jesus every day. So to retell the stories of Jesus from morning to night every day all of the events are like signing the words to your favourite song that you have sung many times over. You can repeat it word perfect, so when it came to writing it down in the future was not that much of a problem. So to continually tell the same stories day in day out (preach) solves (counters) the wrong assumption that the Gospel writers decided to write a story from a memory trying to recall something that occurred 10 - 20 years ago. The memory was live and fresh.

Joseph already had children before he met mary (jesus’ mother), one being called Thomas which means twin, because he looked so much like his younger brother Jesus. Jesus immaculately conceived a child into his wife mary magdeline, and sent his brother Thomas off traveling with her to protect her after Jesus’ death.

First point Made: Alexander the Great stories/bio were written longer after his life than Jesus. -This is false. Second Point Made: Oral history on Jesus is accurate, while other oral history’s are not. -This is hilariously false. Third Point Made: Everyone in history agrees Jesus lived and died. And after death he rose and then walked around town meeting and seeing over 500 people. -Do I even have to explain this is insanity? Last Point Made: People tried to keep it quiet as a conspiracy theory back then. -This relies on the others being true, which most likely they were not. Believing anything this guy said here is like hearing the tale of the three bears and believing all bears live in houses.

Let's fact-check each point: ### First Point: Alexander the Great vs. Jesus - **Alexander the Great:** The primary sources about Alexander the Great's life, such as the works by Arrian, Plutarch, and Diodorus Siculus, were written several centuries after his death in 323 BCE. - **Jesus:** The Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) were written approximately 40-100 years after Jesus' death (circa 30-33 CE). **Fact-check:** It is accurate that the written accounts of Jesus' life appeared closer to his lifetime compared to the accounts of Alexander the Great. ### Second Point: Oral History Accuracy - **Oral Tradition:** Oral histories can vary in accuracy, and scholars often debate the reliability of oral traditions. However, asserting that oral history about Jesus is accurate while others are not is a broad and unsupported claim. **Fact-check:** This point is subjective and lacks evidence. Oral histories can be both accurate and inaccurate depending on various factors. ### Third Point: Universality of Jesus' Life and Resurrection - **Historical Consensus:** Most historians agree that Jesus was a historical figure who lived and died. However, the resurrection and appearances post-death are matters of faith and religious belief, not universally accepted historical facts. **Fact-check:** While the historical existence of Jesus is widely accepted, the claim about his resurrection and post-death appearances is a matter of religious belief, not universal historical consensus. ### Last Point: Conspiracy Theory - **Early Christianity:** Early Christians faced persecution, and their beliefs were not widely accepted initially. However, there is no substantial evidence to suggest it was universally regarded as a conspiracy theory. **Fact-check:** Early Christian beliefs were controversial and faced opposition, but labeling them as a "conspiracy theory" is an oversimplification. ### Conclusion The points made in the post mix historical facts with subjective interpretations and oversimplifications. While there are kernels of truth, the overall claims need to be nuanced and supported by evidence.

@@roganroberts8789 Yes, that is what a miracle is, and that is why humans cannot perform them. The virgin birth of Jesus, the Bethlehem Star, the burning bush, and many more miracles in the Bible. The point of God performing miracles told in the history of the Bible is so we understand that it is actually our Creator who is giving us these Scriptures. But He always leaves room for people to doubt, and that's why He doesn't just appear in the sky and show Himself to the world. He wants us to have faith. It's a heart versus pride issue. If people want to be prideful enough to say they know what does or doesn't exist, or who is or isn't speaking to us, then He leaves room for people to do that and be lost by their own pride and arrogance. It takes a soft heart and humility to have faith that His Word is true. Anyone who hasn't read the Bible and at least tried to speak to God are being overly arrogant and foolish to speak on it. And it will lead to their own demise in the next life, which is the big one.

@@roganroberts8789 there are many cases of unexplainable phenomenons occurring throughout history. Even in recent times. There are some things that even scientific laws cannot explain or break down. It amazes me that when science is discussed, it's always noted that the possibilities are endless, and that something can always come along that proves certain theories wrong But in the same breath, people will use science - something that openly entertains the idea of endless possibilities - as definitive proof/disproof of something Science confirming how gravity works, or how the planets work, is not the same thing as proving/disproving the existence of a creator, and/or an afterlife. There are some things that even science cannot, and likely will not, ever be able to explain. That is one of them. I don't deny nor discredit science, but I do believe that it proves absolutely nothing in the discussion of God, Jesus, the afterlife, etc.

If someone tells me a story that they saw Bruce Lee get into a fight with 2 people I am open to accepting the story is true. It all depends on a number of variables. We must note that stories can be exaggerated in order to make it more interesting. Suddenly what should have been a story of Bruce Lee fighting two people becomes Bruce Lee fighting over ten people. At some point you have to start questioning the legitimacy of the story. Now imagine if the same person told the story a little differently such as Bruce Lee shooting fireballs out of his hands and teleporting all over the place. I don't know about you but I would be thinking someone had a bit too much that night! I might start questioning if it was Bruce Lee at all. No matter how outrageous the story becomes they can still be based on a real person. Point is... I am open to accepting that Jesus COULD have been a real person. Maybe he was someone that did good things and ended up with followers. On the opposite end Jesus might have been nothing more than a con-artist. Lets be realistic about it! People can easily be fooled with tricks. Look at John Edwards who can talk to the dead. We have people in this day and age that blindly follows people like that. If times were a little different or if John Edwards performed his "skills" a few hundred years prior his stories might continue today in books and, perhaps, his stories being exaggerated. John Edwards is no longer talking to the diseased with an audience, he now opened up portals to heaven and... yep... was a modern "son of god" It then comes down to the defenders of Jesus believing the virgin birth, the resurrection, or the fact he is the son of god. Why would you believe this? What about other Gods that existed that had resurrections? Why not believe those as well? Oh.. they are fake except Jesus. Gotcha. Lastly - to the comments that claim Joe Rogan is slowly converting. I very much doubt that! I guess we will find out if my comment ages like milk or wine.
