@@LinneAzalea Nope, you're judging things through the lens of "family" that he owes her anything. @LinneAzalea4 жыл бұрын
@@peteranon8455 Don’t assume things. Had she been one of his parents I would have judged much harder, since I would have had enough to judge them on. In this case, I judged it based on: 1, She had nothing to do with him getting kicked out. Why? Well she is stated to be younger than him, thus she could have been anywhere between 0-14 years old, when he was kicked out. Even if she was 14, she would still have been too young to do anything. Did it ever occur to you that it might have been a really traumatic experience for her? She was too young to stop her parents and too young to help her brother. She might have loved, adored and idolized him, like many younger siblings do. Maybe she had to seek therapy for it? You have no idea, and neither do I, but it’s not a far fetched idea, is it? I for one can’t stand even imagining seeing a sibling getting thrown out at such a young age, if I myself couldn’t even help. 2, She simply wanted to meet him, but was refused in a quite harsh way. So obviously she got hurt and didn’t react in the most mature way (neither did he). She first started asking about thanksgiving, and he said no. She then asked about Christmas, and he said no. Then she simply asked about when they could meet, and he said no, that he had no will or interest in meeting her. Which of course is hurtful, no matter if it’s a sibling or a friend. He doesn’t owe her anything and has no obligation to meet her, but the fact that he doesn’t want to meet her (when we know little of the reasons behind) does make him come off as petty and immature. He has a lot of healing to do still, he clearly isn’t over his past

Story 2 I used to work at a restaurant granted it was in the back of the house but I couldnt stand the girls(90% of our wait staff were girls and relatives to the owner) that felt they deserved the tip and some of those girls treated my guys in the back like crap so I'm going with NTA. And its completely common to have the same waitress/waiter 2 days in a row just like it's common to come in for lunch and have the same girl when you come in for dinner

From my experience many resteraunt's credit card machine are OLD. The only way you can refund is physically putting the card in the machine. ALSO tips don't just go to the waitress, they often get split between wait staff, hostess, and people who bus tables. So he could of had the same waitress but different wait staff.

When parents throw minors out of their home it is not only immoral but it is also illegal. Small restaurants often have a small staff, or people who work regular shifts. As a previous server, no manager of mine would ever have refused to reverse the charge, that is BS. Tipping is not required most places unless it is a party over 6. 15-20% is pretty standard for good service. Plenty of people don't or leave religious pamphlets or crap like that. Luckily a lot of restaurants are switching to a decent hourly wage, and tips are just extra.

Story 2: NTA for one very specific reason. The meal comp, her possibly losing it out of her wages, possibly getting in trouble and fired... that's all on her. He and his group didn't call a manager to get them involved, the waitress did. She was the one who caused a commotion over it. She could very easily have copped it on the chin, taken a moment to realise she was still up $10 in tips from one customer and gone on in life. She chose to make a scene, she can take the consequences.

I love your videos so much! They are so awesome and it seems like you work super hard on them! :) Story 1 NTA op is hilarious, but anyway no, I feel bad for op considering that they were thrown out of the house at such a young age and it’s so sad. Story 2 NAH the waitress is also in a hard spot so I can see why she’s mad, but op is not in the wrong. Story 3 NAH it was over a decade ago, though what they did was horrible they still deserve a second chance, if they proved to have changed and have been kinder than thats good! :) Story 4 NTA ops mother seems horrible, and those are ops children and you don’t have to spend time with someone that just so happens to related to you.

Story 2 I think OP is at least a little bit wrong. He made the mistake, and took it out on the waitress, which may or may not be the same one that served him, and may or may not have been the one to answer the phone. Plus, he can’t just call the restaurant and expect to be paid back. He would have to physically go there and provide proof of this error. He didn’t do either.

It's actually entirely possible to get the same waiter or waitress if you return to the same restaurant on numerous occasions. Considering the hefty tip the guy accidentally gave the last time, the waitress may have specifically requested to wait on his table, likely expecting more.

I realized just how horrible having to depend on tips is when I was trying to get an accounting degree. A restaurant can pay a server as low $1.50 to $3.00 per hour and they are supposed to make up the rest to minimum wage in tips. The owner is not obligated to pay the difference if they don’t make it to the thresh hold of minimum wage because it is “a sign of their performance.” There is many things in accounting that isn’t right so I couldn’t finish the degree. I tip a lot because of knowing this.

She may not have been the one to throw OP out but perhaps OP is justified in not wanting anything to do with her Also, if she really does want to rekindle a relationship why does it have to be a holiday with most likely other members of the family that OP doesn't want to be around? And any restaurant works differently wit the tip system. A tip can you put in the tip jar to evenly split between workers on ours worked (including the cook’s). Or directly to the server how got the tip.

The original saying is "Blood runs thicker than water", which is an old Gaelic proverb which can be traced back to 12th-century writings. The "Blood of the covenant runs thicker than the water of the womb" was written a few decades ago, and has been wrongly quoted as the original proverb (through Tumblr and possibly many other channels)

Hey I'm early! 1. The real saying is "the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb” It means that the people you shed blood for is thicker then the blood of the womb. "His blood might not run through my body but his seamen." BWA HAHAHAHAHAHAHA🤣😂 2. In the US some waiters/waitress' do in fact demand tips even though it isn't mandatory. She isn't entitled to a tip in the first place so she shouldn't be demanding extra money. If she would have had the dma amount in the same two times, she doesn't need any more.
@wilsoncalhoun4 жыл бұрын
"The real saying is...." Only since 2005-ish when a messianic rabbi decided to use it in a homily. The actual saying goes back to at least the 17th century and reads, "blood be not spoilt by water." The modern version is likely the result of cultural or historical misunderstanding.

Tipping isn't mandatory, but waitresses get paid as little as $2 an hour. Refusing to tip is disgusting. If you don't have the money to tip or don't want to, go to fucking McDonald's where you belong.
@wilsoncalhoun4 жыл бұрын
@@WatsonAndDaughter If you're working for tips and don't make at least minimum wage your employer has to make up the difference. If you're waiting tables and your take home is only $2 an hour then you've got both a state and federal case and need to talk to a lawyer. American style tipping only serves to justify predatory employment practices by placing the cost of employee payroll squarely on the customer instead of the employer; it's just more welfare for the powerful over the weak.
@reptilelover21294 жыл бұрын
@@WatsonAndDaughter $2 an hour? TF? No one is entitled to extra money from a stranger. And if I'm not mistaken $2 in hour is not allowed. No one has to tip, A-hole. @@sw3783 I'm sorry to hear that, but my point is, I think the waitress is TA because of how she handled it. Thinking that you can force someone to give you a tip when it isn't mandatory is a bit entitled and getring the manager involved is worse. Or maybe that's just me, but I can't imagine asking a customer for a tip, nevertheless expecting one like I'm owed it. I'm sorry you went to bed hungry and believe me, I do infact tip when I can (which is often) but I do believe that when you demand more money after being tipped $100 the day before is rediculous.
