He has the ability, similar to Rogan but in his own style, to make his guests feel comfortable enough to share certain thoughts and stories that they would never ever share in a standard TV interview. Yes the one take and zero editing stuff helps, but you still need to be that person that can hold the conversation in a way where the guest is relaxed and letting it flow. His Trump interview is superb!

As a teenager I accidentally gave Motley Crue a Spinal Tap moment. I was into New Wave and Punk and had no idea of Motley Crue’s music yet ended up backstage at their concert. I was there for 1st aid because my arm was almost broken by their tour bus driver (long story). I was also drunk. Tommy Lee came up to me to talk and the rest of the band was sitting nearby on a trunk. He is a very cool and funny guy. At one point I asked him, “Hey, don’t you guys sing that song Hot for Teacher?” He was laughing so hard that he started crying. He yelled at the rest of the band, “Dooood, she thinks we’re Van Halen!” The situation became infectious and the band ended up losing control and fell off the trunk. They were rolling around on the ground in a pile crying.
