After all the break downs of the new Tacoma recorded on KZbin, including yours for the front disconnect, Truck King’s for the manual transmission, and just a few days ago Icon Vehicle’s shock mount, TRD Jon’s and others for grill shutter motor, I wouldn’t buy anything new generation Toyota IN THE FIRST FEW YEARS of production. And my wife drives a Lexus and my son a Corolla so we are not exactly an anti-Toyota family.

Doesn’t have frame mounted bump stops and, unfortunately, the design they went with is completely viable, however the two-piece, cast top hat is not a good material or design choice and is prone to failing. The LC250 design is much better.

@@DaleWilly Fan boy, I have decades of forensic failure analysis mechanical engineering experience, have been testing vehicles for decades up and down Pike Peak and Race to the Clouds up Pikes Peak. I have owned 5 generations of 4 x 4 4Runners and off road nearly every weekend here in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Toyota not using traditional bump stops have apparently already caused many failures. Their engineering and quality defects have turned Toyota and Lexus into total 💩. I own a 2015 Lexus RX450h and 2021 4Runner 4 x4. Would not own the next gen 4Runner, not purchase a new Lexus 550 or new Lexus RX, total 💩. Just saying.

I wish Toyota would make a basic 4Runner without all the tech, manual seats, mechanical transfer case, analog gauges, with a locker. People want to customize their vehicles with their own favored gear. They don’t want to pay for the off road goodies from the factory only to remove them.

I like the looks of the new 4Runner, but not crazy about the engine and drivetrain. I have a 2000 4Runner that we bought new and it has been a great vehicle, (265K miles), still looks and runs great. I put a 2" lift with 17" wheels and 33" all terrain tires on it....I get compliments on it all the time. It's not fast and the gas mileage isn't great, but it gets me there and back without ever letting me down. I just wonder if the new 4Runner will still be running strong in 2048.

All the factory air compressor and inverter are just expensive options that can be done aftermarket cheaper.
@Cloud300003 ай бұрын
Aftermarket inverters are very power limited due to the alternator; factory inverters are able to program the electrical feed of the inverter independent of the battery, so they can provide more wattage than an aftermarket inverter. I bought an 800 watt inverter years ago, but it never worked right at full power unless I was manually revving the engine over 2k rpm. Now, I have the Powerboost, and it provides the full 7.2kW at about 1000 rpm by being designed and integrated together with the rest of the truck.

The only thing that really annoys me about these hybrids in the 4 Runner (and Land Cruiser) is the cargo space lost to the battery. Otherwise very nice and capable.
@hennesseytseng74593 ай бұрын
Why can the battery go under the rear seat in a Tacoma but has to occupy cargo or third row space in a 4Runner
@chibbyylolАй бұрын
@@hennesseytseng7459 Probably because of the functions for each vehicle. Folks generally buy a SUV for more passenger capacity over cargo capacity so placing it under the 2nd row will just make it cramped for the passengers there but greater cargo capacity, versus comfortable 2nd row with compromise towards cargo capacity whereas the big thing about trucks is the bed and less about rear seating capacity, especially in a midsize

What is a trip.. At 1:47 you show the passenger side front shock mounted the same way as the landcruiser. Then at 3:29 you show the tacoma which is mounted completely different with its own little cage. Very interesting. I would really like to see these apart to make an better assessment.

@alaskabornheathen89023 ай бұрын
Also depends on what you want an SUV for. If you’re just hauling around the family and don’t plan on towing much; get a RAV4 or Venza. I cannot believe the dismal leg room in the 4Runner. It’s a full size body on frame SUV. It should have more leg room than that. Seats just need to be smaller, that rear bench is way too deep. They could have made it a few inches shallower and it would have made a big difference with leg room.

Look past the UCAs and you’ll see Toyota cheaped-out on the bump stops, they are now on the shock shafts only. This coupled with them eliminating the steel one-piece shock mounts is leading people to blow out their shocks on small bumps. Ridiculous for trucks purportedly made for off-roading.

Please give us the tried and tested models with proper overbuilt naturally aspirated engines…V6 and V8s and 2.7 inline 4 cylinder were better than these hybrids and Turbo engines. The old durable technology provided easier maintenance, easier on the pocket, very efficient and economical to purchase.
