The People's Court

11 ай бұрын

The plaintiff met the defendant on the bus, took her out to dinner, and they became friends. The plaintiff ended up loaning the defendant money for various things, but he hasn’t been paid back, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant admits the plaintiff bought her a few things and gave her money, but she insists the loans were a gift. The defendant believes the plaintiff is just suing her out of spite because he has romantic feelings for her, but she doesn’t feel the same.

I would’ve loved to know his back story. It seems like he was some type of scientist. He’s educated, well spoken. I know he got laid off and couldn’t find another job. Ended up on disability. It seems so sad that he contributed so much to the world of science. Has some friends in high places. But, is struggling to the point he has to borrow $50 from a friend to lend her. The way the disabled and elderly are treated in this country is truly despicable.

He looks like perhaps he is experiencing some cognitive / emotional health issues. He demonstrates an inability to answer the judge at one point because he can’t not tell the story, not because he is being an arse. Unfortunately you have to be careful with lonely people if you’re younger and living a more full life. They can become cloying and needy. However, I’ve always done it out of pure kindness and catholic guilt, not underlying reasons for my own gain. But it does get to be a lot. Idk. There's a certain level of vulnerability that comes with loneliness. One can fend that off with a part-time job for sure, but especially as an older person, there's all kind of need for volunteering at libraries, schools, hospitals, fire stations, police departments, etc. I think it helps a person feel good about giving of themselves, rather than having to give to some stranger who's willing to "borrow" money you just know they have no interest in ever paying back - especially just having met them on public transportation. This ain't "the good old days". I stopped lending money to even my family over 30 years ago when my nephew asked for tuition money. I just wrote the check directly to his admissions office and called it a wash because I knew he'd never pay me back, and I figured it was a good investment. It turned out that it wasn't because he punked out on school, but that's on him. And my intentions were good, so I just had that money go up to the Heavens, which is all we can expect out of "loans". Get promissory notes, though, if you expect your money back. Peace.✌🏾🙂

You would be surprised at how many places like you've mentioned that will NOT allow you on their premises even as a volunteer because of their liability for you if something should happen to you. Places like a Food Pantry maybe or a thrift shop where it would be a non profit you might be able to volunteer. I've tried this or I wouldn't even be commenting about it. People are sue happy and schools, hospitals, etc...don't want the responsibility of an extra person that is an added liability.

This guy is a senior citizen working part time in the garden section of Home Depot and he felt a fellow lonely kindred spirit with her because he believed it was her birthday and she was alone. Can’t wait til she’s his age and experiencing the exact same feelings of loneliness because no one around her trusts her hustling ways and she’s left all alone

1. The Plaintiff seems like a nice guy who is sweet, a bit simply in his view of the world, and lonely. He tried to buy love and it backfired. He needs to find someone with an equally good heart, and not let desperation make him think affection can be bought. 2. The Defendant is a disgusting user with no shame. She was laughing at him & insulting him, but she is very unattractive, looks like she has a physical defect, is poorly built, & apparently has a fungus. She doesn’t look like anybody’s supermodel & clearly can’t find any men her own age or have anything going for herself. She should tone it WAY down.
